Mitsubishi Lancer 10 ( Mitsubishi lancer X)- the tenth generation of one of the most popular models produced Japanese company Mitsubishi Motors. Lancer belongs to those cars, without which it is no longer possible to imagine the modern auto industry. The previous generation of this car has become a real bestseller in the world market, and, by right, is considered one of the most unpretentious cars in its class. The hero of today's review is no less in demand than its predecessor, but if he has lost its former reliability in the race for modern trends, now we will try to find out.

A bit of history:

For the first time a car with the name Lancer (A70) appeared on the market back in 1973. Initially, the novelty was conceived as a transitional model for filling the gap in lineup company between the compact Minica hatchback and sedan Galant, and was created on the basis of the Mitsubishi Colt. The car was presented in three body types - sedan, coupe and station wagon. Distinctive feature this model from other representatives of the company became the presence disc brakes all wheels, the use of a safety steering column and a 98-horsepower engine with two carburetors - Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR. A rally version with a 165 hp engine was also released, which in 1973 took the first four places in the Australian rally, and a year later won the East African Safari Rally.

The debut of the serial version of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 took place in 2007 at the Detroit Auto Show. However, the appearance of the novelty and its appearance became known back in 2005, after the premiere of the Concept-cX (was shown at the Tokyo motor show) and the Concept-Sportback (debuted at the Frankfurt auto show). During the development of the novelty, the "Project Global" trolley was taken as a basis, which had previously been successfully tested on. This generation of the car was endowed with a unique and memorable appearance, making it one of the most successful in the history of the model. In addition to the original design, the Lancer 10 was endowed with a safe RISE body, made using a unique technology (torsional rigidity increased by 56%, bending - 50%). However, there were also details on which the novelty was significantly inferior to the previous generation - sound insulation, interior trim and driving performance.

In 2010, the model underwent the first restyling, during which minor technical changes... A year later, the manufacturer made changes to the exterior of the car - new 10-spoke wheel disks, the architecture of the bumpers and the framing of the radiator grill have changed (chrome trim appeared), expanded the line of power units. The update in 2014 was aimed at eliminating some technical flaws - there were shock absorbers anthers, the ability to change the steering rods (earlier the part was assembled with a rack), the reliability of wheel bearings increased, etc. In 2018, it was announced that the production of this generation of the model was discontinued.

Problem places and disadvantages of Mitsubishi Lancer 10 with mileage

The paintwork of the body is soft and thin, which makes it painful to even endure a meeting with the branches of bushes (it is scratched). Due to the fact that the body quickly loses its presentable appearance, the owners often carry out cosmetic repairs, repainting problem parts, because of this, to identify wrecked car more difficult. When inspecting a car in which cosmetic repairs were carried out, check the gaps, openings, the integrity of the joint sealant and look for the presence of putty. The manufacturer also saved on external body panels - the thickness and strength of the steel leaves much to be desired. To corrosion body iron unwillingly, but this is more a merit of galvanizing than of the metal itself. Despite the good corrosion protection, you should not leave chips for a long time without attention, since mushrooms can still appear in them. The fastest rust affects the sills, hood, edge of the roof and arches, trunk lid, door seams, joints between fenders and bumpers.

It will not be superfluous to pay attention to the underside of the car. Rotten Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is still a rarity, but there may already be certain inclinations for this. In the absence of proper care and additional treatment with anticorrosive, over time, arches niches, spars, brackets, seams and a niche near fuel tank... V engine compartment seams and glasses are cause for concern. Among other disadvantages, it is worth highlighting the softness of the protective plastic of the front optics, which, moreover, becomes cloudy over the years, which reduces the quality of the light beam. Polishing will help to restore the headlights to their former transparency, and to protect them from scratches, you will have to glue the film. It is also worth highlighting such troubles as leakage of fog lights, backlash in door handles, unreliability of fastening mirror covers and front door seals.

Power units

In our market, Mitsubishi Lancer 10 meets gasoline engines 1.5 (4A91 109 hp), 1.6 (4A92 117 hp), 1.8 (4B10 143 hp), 2.0 (4B11 150 hp) and 2.4 (4B12). Rarely, but still, diesel versions 2.0 DI-D (136 hp) come across. Looking ahead, I will say that all engines of this model are reliable and, with proper care, do not present significant surprises.

Gasoline

Gasoline engines have one common disease - the O-ring between the manifold and the catalyst quickly burns out, because of this, during acceleration, they appear unpleasant sounds... Ignition coils also do not differ in vitality (symptoms - the car does not start well). It is also worth noting the throttle sensitive to pollution - it is recommended to clean it every 30-40 thousand kilometers. For cars of the first years of production, the "Check" indicator may light up on the dashboard for no reason - it is treated by updating the firmware. Since these engines do not have hydraulic lifters, it is necessary to adjust the thermal clearances of the valves every 80-100 thousand km. For machines with HBO, this procedure should be carried out more often. If this is not done over time, the valves will begin to hang.

The most problematic in the line are the stock engines of the 4A9 series - 1.5 and 1.6 liters. The main disadvantage of these ICEs is the tendency piston rings to coking - leads to an increase in oil consumption. If this nuisance is not followed in the future, the oil burner can negatively affect the resource of the connecting rod-piston group (the liners rotate, seizures appear). The timing chain also does not differ in reliability, which often needs to be replaced at a run of 100-150 thousand kilometers (stretched). The crankshaft oil seals and gaskets can withstand about the same. If tightened to repair leaks, leaking oil will kill the pulley. drive belts... On average, the resource of motors is 300,000 km, but with proper maintenance they can withstand up to 400,000 km.

Engines of the 4B1 series are also not without problems that cause a progressive oil burner, but here it appears after 200,000 km of run. Of the shortcomings of these internal combustion engines, owners most often note increased operating noise and a tendency to vibrations. For cars with high mileage, problems can be caused by exhaust system(the walls burn out) and the timing chain (stretched). On older Mitsubishi Lancer 10, you need to monitor the condition of the wiring and injector connectors (break). If you do not keep track of the catalyst and oil level, there is a high likelihood of scoring in the cylinders. In a 2.4 engine, the cause of scuffing is aggressive operation without preliminary warming up. The signal that there is a problem will be tapping on cold engine... These motors are not devoid of minor troubles, such as leaks of gaskets and oil seals, damage to pipes, etc. The resource is about 450,000 km.

Diesel

Diesel versions were equipped with an upgraded two-liter EA188 series engine, borrowed from the VAG concern. Of the main problems faced by the owners of diesel Mitsubishi Lancer 10, it is necessary to highlight rapid wear fuel equipment, an oil pump hexagon, an EGR valve and a particulate filter (only a BSY engine has a particulate filter). Also, there are often cases of loss of lubrication due to a burst oil supply pipe to the oil cooler and a turbocharger failure, but these ailments are usually found on high mileage... In addition, this diesel is famous for its good oil appetite, which can reach 1 liter per thousand mileage.

Transmission

For Mitsubishi Lancer 10, three types of gearboxes were available - mechanics, automatic transmission and variator. Strange as it may sound, but most of all problems are caused by a 5-speed manual transmission, which works in tandem with 1.5 and 1.6 engines. In this box, in addition to the unreliability of synchronizers, bearings, couplings and gears, a rather weak case. Before buying a car with such a box, be sure to listen to the box for any hum (it is advisable to check on a lift). It is also necessary to look at the oil, whether there are pieces of metal and gray turbidity in it. But the manual transmissions, which were combined with the 1.8 and 2.0 engines, turned out to be more durable. From the general problems of mechanics, one can single out weak drive oil seals (flow) and noise when shifting gears.

Among automatic boxes transmissions, the most widespread was the 4-speed automatic F4A51. This transmission is quite reliable and, with timely maintenance, does not particularly bother with breakdowns up to 300,000 km. From weak points The automatic transmission is worth highlighting the pump, speed sensor and oil seals. At high mileage 200,000+, malfunctions of solenoids, valve body, planetary gears and brake bands are possible. It should be noted that this machine does not like dirty oil, overheating and abrupt starts. The JF613E six-speed controller is very rare for our market, since it was installed only in diesel versions and with gasoline engine 2.4. The main problem of this machine is the rapid wear of the clutches, the particles of which are carried around the gearbox, clogging the oil channels, solenoids and valve body. Despite this, for owners who change the oil every 30-40 thousand km, the box takes care of about 200,000 km without significant repairs.

But the reliability of the Jatco JF011E variator largely depends on the quality of service (it is recommended to change the lubricant every 40-60 thousand km) and operating conditions. With proper care and proper operation, the variator will last about 250,000 kilometers. This transmission painfully endures work in traffic jams and over long distances - it overheats (after overheating, it is recommended to replace it with oil in the transmission as soon as possible). The first in this unit are the solenoids, shaft bearings, a step motor, splined joints of the planetary gear and its clutches. With an aggressive driving style, the belt quickly stretches and the cones are damaged (seizures appear), after which it will be cheaper to change the box for a used one than to repair it. Unit malfunction signals will be extraneous sounds, twitching and hanging. Also, sure signs of imminent death are the presence of small particles of metal on the tip of the dipstick and the smell of burning.

Resource suspension, steering and brakes Mitsubishi Lancer 10

This model is equipped with independent suspension with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear. Chassis Mitsubishi Lancer 10 has a good resource and is well adapted to domestic operating conditions. Of the weak points, it is worth highlighting the rear springs, which sag after 120-150 thousand km. The rest of the suspension life is above average. The stabilizer struts travel about 30-50 thousand km, bushings up to 60,000 km. Front shock absorbers and support bearings are enough for 80-100 thousand km. The silent blocks of the levers withstand a little more, wheel bearings and ball joints- 100-120 thousand km. Silent blocks of the subframe need to be replaced after 150,000 km. The rubber bands of the multi-link under moderate loads hold 100-120 thousand km. But rear shock absorbers and hub bearings (change assembled with the hub) can last up to 150 thousand km. The trailing arms need to be replaced every 150-200 thousand km. It is worth noting that camber and toe adjustment bolts tend to sour.

The weak point in the steering is the rack, which often makes itself felt by the appearance of knocks in the first hundred thousand kilometers. Closer to 150,000 km, the rail begins to flow. Purchase original part a costly business - $ 600-700, fortunately, the rail is maintainable (repairs cost $ 150-250). Another disadvantage is the small resource of the steering tips. The electric power steering, which the versions with the 1.5 engine are equipped with, does not differ in exemplary reliability - it starts to malfunction closer to 150,000 km (the part cannot be repaired). The rest of the versions are equipped with a classic power steering, which, when regular maintenance and the absence of line leaks does not cause unnecessary problems.

The brakes of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 are reliable, but the owners of cars with top-end motors often criticize the lack of efficiency. brake system and rapid wear of pads (30,000 km) and discs (50-70 thousand km). The calipers are very afraid of dirt, since the finger covers are rather weak here (they need to be changed every 4-5 years). In "older" specimens, wedging is possible rear brakes due to souring pistons brake mechanisms... Early enough attention is also required by the ABS unit (when driving through puddles it floods) and sensors with wiring.

Salon

The materials for the interior trim of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 are quite budgetary, and the build quality leaves much to be desired - the seams of the front panel are poorly fitted, and there are backlashes in the attachment points! There are also complaints about the durability of some interior trim elements. For example, on the aluminum-look inserts, door handles, steering wheel cover and gearshift lever, signs of wear appear in the first 100,000 kilometers. The upholstery of the armrests and front seats withstands a little longer. There are also complaints about acoustic comfort - over time, the interior begins to rattle and creak. The situation is aggravated by the lack of normal sound insulation. Due to the bare metal under the carpet, feet freeze in severe frost. On older cars, the cables of the door locks and opening the trunk may require attention - they turn sour and begin to wedge.

The electrical system of the car as a whole is reliable and infrequently annoying. After 5-7 years, the stove fan motor makes itself felt (starts to howl). About the same number of seat heating elements serve, rear window and folding door mirrors. For cars manufactured before 2009, the window regulator mechanism could be skewed along with the door frame (it tore off the fastening bolts). This ailment was eliminated under warranty, but there were those who limited themselves to regularly tightening the bolts. Therefore, in the event of any extraneous noise during the operation of the window regulator, check the condition of the fasteners. Mitsubishi Lancer has 10 air-conditioned headaches add system tubes - flow. The picture quality of the rear view camera has deteriorated over the years. The problem, as a rule, lies in the insufficient tightness of the part (the board is oxidized). The wiring is also not reliable. Most susceptible to damage are door wiring harnesses and engine compartment(insulation cracks, breaks, etc.). The connection connectors are also considered quite problematic (they burn out, oxidize, the latches break).

Outcome:

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 stylish and enough reliable car, the only thing that spoils the image of a high-quality Japanese car is the poor quality of wiring, trim and assembly of the interior. Another disadvantage of the car can be attributed high cost original spare parts.

Advantages:

  • Striking, memorable sporty design
  • Reliable suspension
  • Automatic transmission
  • Galvanized body

Flaws:

  • Soft metal
  • Weak noise reduction on cars before 2011
  • Interior quality
  • High fuel consumption on the version with the 2.0 engine, in the city 12 - 14 liters per hundred

If you are or were the owner of this car brand, please share your experience, indicating the strengths and weaknesses auto. Perhaps it is your feedback that will help others to choose the right one.

I took a 2-year-old car in the spring of 2011 with a mileage of 23,000.

I'll start with the bad: Shumka, plastic in the cabin, paintwork.

Shumka. In general, it does not exist. But at my age and requirements for comfort, this plays a mediocre role. So I can't say that this is a big minus. Everything is decided by the installation of sound insulation, in A ** - tuning "premium Shumka" will cost 21,000 rubles.

Plastic in the cabin. There are a lot of crickets, especially in winter, like rattles in the car. It is removed in the same way as in the first case.

LCP. Also leaves much to be desired. After 10 thousand runs on the highway in thaw conditions, the bumper cover and the bumper itself became white speckled.

Well, now everything else.

In terms of breakdowns - in principle, nothing. Unless they stopped playing the speakers from the driver's side, cleaned the loop on the radio tape recorder, gave 2000 rubles from the officers.

By driving performance everything is fine - sharp, intuitive steering wheel. It fits very comfortably in the hand, you can hold on to it in the area of the spokes, while your hands rest completely on the steering wheel spokes and do not get tired. By the way, the steering wheel is adjustable only in height, was it really difficult to adjust the depth? In general, the car confidently holds the road, the grip is 5+.

The engine is, of course, rather weak, but I knew that I was taking it. The fact that 1.5 is not enough is obvious without words and without the practice of driving it, especially when combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. But the machine works out its power of 109 HP with a bang. At 180 km / h you feel comfortable, the road holds confidently. A maximum of 180 with a little rode at 5000 rpm, so I think that 200 can be pulled out.

The suspension is stiff, but in this class of cars it should be so.

The salon, in my opinion, is the most spacious and comfortable in the class. In front, a person will fully stretch their legs 180 cm. I do bodybuilding, have broad shoulders and still sit in a big, comfortable chair. Behind, in general, beauty is together. Very comfortable armrest and plenty of space. The shape of the sofa is well done, right in line with the shape of the back. By the way, the backrest folds down. The music is mediocre, only for people inside the car, in winter, with strong bass, plastic rattles.

The interior upholstery is black, it looks aesthetically pleasing, but if the fabric on the sides gets dirty, it is difficult to clean it yourself. The upholstery is quickly rubbed into the doors where the elbow is placed.

Plastic is scratched gray in the area of the automatic transmission handle. By the way, it can be replaced (it is inexpensive). The rest of the plastic has not lost its appearance for more than 3 years.

The trunk does not have a handle, but the spoiler opens wonderfully. By the way, the trunk is small, but for those who have it all the time empty, this is not a problem.

Optics at the level, I go without xenon, you can see everything.

Now about the climate inside the car. I have an ordinary air conditioner in the package, it copes with a bang. At a maximum of 35-degree heat, almost steam comes from the mouth. It's the same with the stove, it won't be cold for sure. Heated seats has 2 modes: on the first, a comfortable ride, on the second, you can cook (this is only in order to quickly warm up).

By the way, a separate word can be said about the ABS. ABS has never failed in winter. I was not particularly careful in winter, I drove like in summer, and even on ice the car stops quickly.

In general, the car was more than satisfied, if I changed it to a classmate, I would definitely choose Lancer 2.0 on the mechanics.

Gasoline engine Mitsubishi Lancer 10 1.5 l. with a power of 109 h.p. frankly weak for a car that provokes an active ride. The motor of the 4A91 series itself is clearly not sharpened for this. Therefore, the 1.5 liter gasoline aspirated on the Mitsubishi Lancer X does not last long and often needs to be repaired. The main problem after 100 thousand runs is the oil consumption caused by coking of the piston rings. Today we'll talk about everyone design features this motor. The engine is forced to the limit, the designers have squeezed everything out of it, so it does not live long.

The device of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 1.5 liter engine.

Mitsubishi engine 4A91, this is an in-line 4 cylinder 16 valve unit with an aluminum cylinder block and a timing chain drive. This is a typical DOHC top-mounted two camshafts... At the inlet camshaft there is a phase shifter (the executive part of the variable valve timing system). The MIVEC variable valve timing system works in conjunction with ECI-Multi electronic distributed fuel injection.

Engine block head Lancer 10 1.5 l.

Mitsubishi Lancer X 1.5 cylinder head liter is made of aluminum alloy. The camshafts act directly on the valves. That is, the cams of the shafts run onto the glasses, which in turn press on the valve stems. Fortunately, there are no rocker arms. But also in this motor there are no hydraulic lifters. Valve clearance adjustable by selection of pusher glasses (31 sizes), which have different bottom thicknesses. The candle wells are located in the center of the cylinder head.

Timing drive of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 1.5 liter engine.

Timing chain drive and usually does not cause problems. All labels for installing a new chain are available. But experienced craftsmen make their own additional marks. It never happens that there is a phase shifter on one shaft, which works due to the oil pressure that is regulated solenoid valve MIVEC systems. The service life of the chain is not known for certain, since against the background of chilled valve stem seals, sunken piston wheels and wild oil consumption, this is not at all a problematic part of the motor. • Fuel type - AI-95 gasoline
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 8.9 liters
  • Combined fuel consumption - 7 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 6 liters

This motor is rather weak for Lancer, but for Mitsubishi colt the engine fits perfectly. Before buying a used Mitsubishi Lancer X 1.5, consider how much it will cost you to repair your powertrain.

The official premiere of the Mitsubishi C-segment sedan represented by the tenth generation Lancer model took place in January 2007 at the international motor show in Detroit. But the history of the model began a little earlier - in 2005, when the Concept-X and Concept-Sportback concept cars debuted at the motor shows in Tokyo and Frankfurt (based on which a car “in the tenth body” was created).

In 2011, "Lancer 10" underwent a small update, as a result of which it received point changes in the exterior and interior, as well as improved noise insulation.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is endowed with a smart and very good appearance, from whatever angle you look at it. Even at a rather large age, it looks worthy and relevant against the background of newer cars.

The front part of the sedan is made in the corporate style of the Mitsubishi brand called “Jet Fighter” (in the style of fighters), and the open mouth of the radiator grille with chrome edging and predatory narrowed optics add aggression to it (it's a pity that the filling is completely halogen) ...

The dynamic "combat" profile of the Japanese three-volume is underlined by a long hood, a strongly inclined A-pillar and 16-inch "rollers" with 10 spokes (for a fee - 17-inch).

The rear of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 contains lights made in the same style as the headlights and giving it aggression, a somewhat heavy trunk and an expressive bumper.

An additional sporty touch to the vehicle's exterior is provided by the aerodynamic side skirts and the striking rear spoiler, which are available as an optional extra.

The overall dimensions of the body of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 sedan fit into the concept of the C-class: 4570 mm in length, 1505 mm in height, 1760 mm in width. The wheelbase of the car is 2635 mm, and ground clearance- 165 mm. Depending on the modification, the curb weight of the sedan varies from 1265 to 1330 kg.

The interior of the "tenth Lancer" looks modern, but nothing special catches the eye. Wheel with three spokes is unified with other models of the brand, only the necessary minimum of keys was found on it. Looks most stylish dashboard, which is made in the form of two deep "wells" with a color display with a diagonal of 3.5 inches between them, covered from above by a wave-like visor.

The center console is made in a classic style, in terms of design there are no questions about it. A simple radio tape recorder is integrated into the panel, so it can only be replaced with an original multimedia system. Slightly below there is an "emergency" button, and even lower - three rotating handles and three control buttons climate control... Everything is simple and well thought out, you literally can't find fault with ergonomics.

The interior of the sedan "Lancer 10" is no different high level execution. Firstly, hard and not very pleasant plastic is completely used, and even in the top-end versions, leather trim is not available, and secondly, everything is not assembled in the best way (you can see the gaps between the parts).

The front seats have a good profile, although they would have liked better support on the sides. The adjustment ranges are sufficient, but no more, there is room with a margin in all directions. The rear sofa is comfortable for three, passengers will not feel discomfort in the legs or in width, but the low ceiling will put pressure on the heads of tall people.

Trunk japanese sedan small by the standards of the "golf" -class - only 315 liters of usable volume. Its shape is not the most successful, the opening is narrow, the height is small - in general, large-sized objects will not fit there. Back rear seat folds flat with the floor, providing opportunities for transporting long items. Under the "plywood" floor there was a place for a full-size spare wheel on a stamped disc.

Specifications. For the Mitsubishi Lancer 10, in 2015, two DOHC four-cylinder petrol engines are available, each equipped with MIVEC electronic variable valve timing technology and ECI-Multi multipoint injection.

  • The first is the 1.6-liter unit that produces 117 Horse power power and 154 Nm of limit torque (at 4000 rpm). A 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-band "automatic" is offered to it in tandem, and all the traction is directed to the front wheels. With such a "heart" under the hood, the sedan accelerates to the first hundred in 10.8-14.1 seconds, reaching a maximum of 180-190 km / h ( best performance in both cases for the version with manual transmission). Fuel consumption in combined mode varies from 6.1 to 7.1 liters.
  • A more powerful 1.8-liter engine generates 140 "horses" and 177 Nm of peak thrust (at 4250 rpm). It is combined either all with the same mechanical transmission, or with a stepless CVT variator(drive - exclusively front). With the "mechanics", the 140-horsepower Lancer gains 100 km / h after 10 seconds and a top speed of 202 km / h, while consuming 7.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km in mixed mode. In the case of a variator, acceleration to the first hundred takes 1.4 seconds longer, and the maximum capabilities are lower by 11 km / h (fuel consumption is only 0.3 liters higher).

Previously, there were also available: "sluggish" 1.5-liter 109-horsepower (with "mechanics" it was "nothing", but with "automatic" - just "no" in terms of dynamics); 2.0-liter 150 hp power unit and, "hurricane", a 2.0-liter turbocharged 241-horsepower engine.

The "tenth" Mitsubishi Lancer is based on the "global" platform Project Global, which was created jointly by Mitsubishi and Daimler-Chrysler engineers during the period of their cooperation. The arsenal of the Japanese sedan includes a standard set modern car: McPherson front with stabilizers lateral stability, behind - independent suspension with a multi-link circuit.
Brakes on the "Lancer" are disc on all wheels, and at the front are also ventilated (front have a diameter of 15 inches, rear - 14 inches). The rack and pinion steering gear is supplemented with a hydraulic booster.

Options and prices. On the Russian market in 2015, the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is offered in four trim levels:

  • The basic level of equipment called Inform is offered at a price of 719,000 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes two front airbags, ABS, on-board computer, power steering, four power windows, a standard audio system with an AUX connector, and steel wheels wheels.
  • The Invite version is available only with a 117-horsepower engine at a price of 809,990 rubles for a car with "mechanics" or 849,990 rubles with an "automatic". Such a car is complemented by air conditioning, electric drive and heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats and an armrest between the front seats.
  • For Lancer 10 performed by Invite +, they offer the whole range of engines and gearboxes, and they ask for it from 849,990 to 939,990 rubles. The prerogative of this configuration is fog lights, light alloy wheels, leather-clad multi-steering wheel and gearshift lever.
  • The top solution Intense will cost from 919,990 to 969,990 rubles (depending on the installed engine-transmission link). In addition to all of the above, such a sedan sports aerodynamic door sills, a trunk spoiler, side airbags and a driver's knee airbag.

By the way - 2015 was the last year for the tenth generation "Lancer" on the Russian market, and in December 2017 its production was discontinued in Japan.

/ Assembling the Mitsubishi Lancer X engine

Motor assembly 4A91 1.5 Mitsubishi Lancer X

Only by working in the field of maintenance and repair of cars and thoroughly knowing their design and structure, you can fully assess how much the car resembles the human body. There are no unnecessary details here, everything works in a complex, together. If one organ “hurts” and is left without timely and qualified treatment, then, soon, it will pull others along with it. Everything is exactly the same in the case of a car. You need to be aware that technology, no matter how hardy and reliable it would be, requires attention, care and attention.

What is all this for? In addition, the motor, which we will talk about in this article, was not lucky with the owner. He did not understand these seemingly simple truths.

And it was like this.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 with a 1.5 liter engine (model 4A91) began to demand more and more to open the hood and add oil to the engine. Simply put Lancer 1.5 started eating butter.

The question is why?

It is almost impossible to establish the exact reason, but there are versions:

  1. Oil change every 15,000 km or less. Yes, maybe this is what the manufacturer prescribes in the service book, but there are no traffic jams, frequent warm-up starts, extreme temperatures and many other factors. When operating a car in a city - 10,000 km is the limit even for the most expensive and high-quality "synthetics".
  2. The quality of fuels and lubricants (gasoline, oil). There is a great chance to run into counterfeit.
  3. Poor quality components, spare parts. As with the second point, you can always buy fake or low-quality oil or air filters, for example.
  4. Rare replacement air filter... The result is that he ceases to cope with his duties and the dirt gets into the motor.
  5. Failure to take action when engineMitsubishi Lancer 10 already began to require topping up oil between TO... Killed neutralizer exhaust gases can play a cruel joke.
  6. Constant driving at too high or, conversely, too low revs.
In fact, the list goes on and on. In short, misuse and connivance in the maintenance of your Mitsubishikilled his motor.

It is worth dwelling separately on the sixth point.

The point is that on Lancer 10 1.5 liter engine is minimal in volume. Strength and elasticity is not enough for him, so very often he has to "twist" well. Frequent and continuous work on high revs does not benefit any engine, and the resource is suddenly reduced.

Love for eating up oil more often it is the "smallest" ones in terms of cubic capacity that differ Mitsubishi motors.

Let's return to our sufferer. And so, he began have oil, thereby forcing its owner to open more and more often hood of Mitsubishi Lancer 10... By the time the engine "died", it began to absorb up to 1000-1200 ml of oil per thousand km. Given such a strong buttery appetite, the owner does not come up with anything better than hammer to change the oil in the engine: “Why, it is constantly being updated”. Of course, after some time, it exhausted its resource and stopped working. oil filter ... The clean oil burned out, and all the dirt remained in the engine. From all this "lard in chocolate" clogged and refused oil pump... We predict the result - death of camshaft liners.

Disassembled motor... Begin collect engine 4A91, but first, a couple of photos showing the general condition of some of the engine parts.

State cylinder mirrors.

Pistons with leftovers connecting rod rings... Pay attention to the slurry instead of oil on the parts.

State crankshaft necks.

First we sign crankshaft covers.

We process with the smallest sandpaper cylinder mirrors to create barely noticeable notches perpendicular to the piston.

All the places where were gaskets or sealant we clean it with a special nozzle using a drill. This must be done carefully, because the main idea is to remove only the remnants of gaskets or sealant, not metal. Without fanaticism.

Install the upper crankshaft liners.

Removing the old earbuds With crankshaft covers and install new ones.

The crankshaft returns to its place.

We install persistent half rings of the crankshaft.

Lubricate with a drop of oil crankshaft journal since liners at Lancer lockless and can crank at the first start engine.

When tightening the crankshaft cover bolts, a torque wrench must be used to maintain the required torque. We start tightening from the third cover and move away from it.

We remove the rings from the pistons and clean the latter. Installing new rings.

Work on the block of cylinders is still stopped. We pass to the cylinder head. It needs to be disassembled and sent for grinding. We sign the glasses of valves and remove them.

We remove the exhaust manifold and other parts.

We dry the valves and remove them, also not forgetting to sign.

Remove the valve spring spacer washers.

Disassembly of the Mitsubishi Lancer 1.5 cylinder head completed. Now we measure everything and once again make sure that "Head" took... We send to grinding cylinder head.

We return to the block of cylinders.

Install the rings on the pistons. The rings should be installed in the likeness of the Mercedes badge: three rings - with cavities in three different sides.

Install the connecting rod bushings.

We tighten the piston rings with a coupler and install them in the cylinders. Please note: the point on the piston must point towards the timing!

We fix the connecting rods to the crankshaft. Do not forget about tightening torques!

We continue to work on cleaning up the places where there were gaskets or sealants.

The polished head of the BC is back.

Now the long process of lapping the valves begins. If the valves are new, then first they are rubbed in with a coarse paste, then with a fine one. Used valves - just fine paste.

Before installation valve stem seals grease them a little with oil.

Drying.

Next, all the places where the gaskets or sealant were are ground and cleaned.

Installing a new pump.

Installing the engine sump.

We dock the head and the block. It is best to use new bolts. Of course, absolutely all gaskets are installed as new.

The motor is ready. After installation attachments the engine takes on a full-fledged appearance.
