Noticeable changes have been made to the gearbox. Such equipment made it possible to increase maximum speed sedan up to 175 km / h and at the same time acceleration to 100 km / h takes no more than 11 seconds.

Independent front suspension GAZ-31105 on ball bearings (pivotless) is easier and more economical to maintain. High-quality, reliable ball joints do not require lubrication during operation and are easily replaced if necessary. The transition to classic ball bearings instead of a complex pivot system made it possible to abandon the simple, but unpleasant procedure of "injecting" the suspension of the Volga's front wheels. Also excluded are the threaded bushings of the levers, which also required lubrication and control of the condition of their seal and adjustment parameters. New bushings provide a tangible reduction in the transmission of shocks from the road to the car body when driving on uneven surfaces.

An important improvement in the wheel suspension, perhaps the first in importance in terms of handling and stability of the car, is the introduction of a stabilizer lateral stability in suspension rear wheels... In addition to reducing the lateral roll of the body when cornering, the stabilizer also works as a reactive link element, reducing excessive longitudinal spring compliance and dynamic longitudinal vibrations rear axle when accelerating, braking and moving the car over road bumps. This ensures precise control of the vehicle when maneuvering, especially at high speeds. In real operation, for the average driver, this means an increase in the speed of confident maneuvering up to 10 km / h on a dry road surface, an increase in average speed, a decrease in driver fatigue and an increase in ride comfort for passengers.

The changes affected appearance cars. Instead of angular headlights, more modern and efficient drop-shaped headlights manufactured by Osvar (Vyazniki) have been installed. They are a block that combines optical elements of the near, high beam and a direction indicator housed in a single housing with a high-strength optical diffuser having a "free" surface. The illumination of the roadbed and the side of the road became more uniform and intense, due to which the level of active safety car.

Like most modern cars, the trunk opening is lowered to the bumper, it has become easier to load luggage into the GAZ-31105. The GAZ-31105 has new convenient external door handles and Vgapo locks, which close the doors almost silently. Since June 2007, the GAZ-31105 has been equipped with a new interior, developed with the participation of German design studios. GAZ approached the interior design seriously and attracted specialists from the leading German design bureaus EDAG (Engineering + Design AG) and H? Rmann Rawema, who cooperate with such monsters as BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes and Volkswagen. As a result of the transformations, the interior of the new "Volga" has become much more ergonomic, stylish and comfortable. Among the innovations: an updated instrument panel and interior lighting system, improved upholstery of doors and ceilings, as well as an original wheel, for the first time equipped with radio control buttons. Among the technical innovations are: a multi-position "joystick" for adjusting the mirrors, the ability to adjust the steering column, sealed vents for the ventilation and heating system, as well as a number of elements that provide the maximum level of comfort for the driver and passengers: pull-out cup holders, glove boxes, glove box and ashtrays.

Serial production of the Volga 2007 model year with a new interior began at the Gorky Automobile Plant on May 18, 2007. The front seats have undergone major changes: the profile and style of the seat cushions and backrests have been changed. The new front seats, in addition to greater comfort for the driver and front passenger, have increased the headroom in the cabin, between the steering wheel and the seat cushion, and between the steering wheel and the seat back. Thanks to the new lowered profile of the cushion, the usable space in the opening of the front door is significantly increased. RELATIVES BUT NOT TWINS

Well, finally, he gave free rein to the hard-hidden desire to travel. The starting point is, of course, the well-known Volga with the ZMZ-406. At idle and low revs, the Mexican engine is quieter and softer. At high speed, the difference is subtle. Traditional "Volgov" noises, aerodynamic and transmission, easily hammer the melody of any engine.

The difference in the response of the car to the gas pedal was felt immediately. On the Volga with Chrysler, the reaction is clearer. This, by the way, is very noticeable when, during measurements, you need to drive at a constant, especially low (20-40 km / h) speed. Acceleration ... Believe me, the Volga, which overcomes the 100 km / h line in less than 12 seconds, makes a great impression. Especially when you know that the road, albeit absolutely empty, is not endless ...

Alas, the GAZ test site, where we evaluated the dynamic qualities of the new Volga, was built when similar cars in Nizhny did not. There is not enough straight road section to achieve maximum speed. But the fact that the car will give out the passport 178 km / h is undoubtedly. Measurements of a commercial run-in Volga with a Zavolzhsky engine were carried out at the test site in Dmitrov, in similar weather conditions.

But in Nizhny, the opportunity presented itself to ride on a non-serial GAZ-31105 with a 140-horsepower ZMZ-405 engine and a control program tuned for it. Such versions are offered by some tuning firms. The difference with the ZMZ-406 is noticeable, it is worth pressing the accelerator pedal harder. But the car with the ZMZ-405 beat the namesake with the Chrysler only in elasticity: acceleration from 60 to 100 km / h in IV gear - 11.88 s, from 80 to 120 km / h in V - 19.06 s. And in terms of maximum speed (169 km / h) and acceleration to a hundred (12.55 s), the tuning "Volga" was inferior to the serial one with the "Mexican".

It seems that the novelty has another important advantage: according to factory data, and subjectively, it is noticeably more economical than its counterpart from ZMZ. By the way, the version with "Chrysler" reaches the maximum speed in the fourth gear, the fifth - economical, "highway".

GAZ is not going to give up ZMZ engines... Having several suppliers is more profitable for both the manufacturer and the consumer.
