Opel Astra Cruz which is better. Opel Astra or Chevrolet Cruze which is better

09.11.2021

At the same time, they are not only built on a common platform, but are even produced at the same plant. But is the new Chevy really capable of competing on equal terms with its European relative - the big question

Represented

Jim's "worldwide" car Chevrolet Cruze appeared in 2009. Its lineup began with a sedan, to which a hatchback was added in 2011, and a station wagon will soon join them. The assembly of the Cruze has been established at the GM plant in Shushary near St. Petersburg. The current generation of Opel Astra, the world premiere of which took place in the same 2009, is already the fourth in a row. Its release is also organized at the St. Petersburg GM plant. In our market, the new Astra has been on sale since the spring of 2010, and is available along with the previous generation. The hatchback is the basis of the current Opel Astra model line, which, in addition to it, includes a station wagon and a three-door version of the GTC.

Looked

Absolutely dissimilar interiors of our rivals, upon closer examination, are replete with unified elements - they have the same steering column levers, power window buttons and keys on the steering wheel. But the interior of the Opel Astra leaves a more pleasant impression: the finishing materials here are better than in Chevrolet. In addition, there is a suspicion that the light "canvas", which went to the upholstery of the front panel of the Cruze, will be quite a brand. Almost all of the Cruze's increase in length (91 mm) compared to the Astra went to its trunk. Therefore, it has more volume, despite the full-size spare wheel. But Opel has a double floor in the cargo compartment, the height of which can be adjusted.

swept

Atmospheric engine Chevrolet Cruze is better "lucky" on the bottoms, and therefore it is more convenient to crawl in viscous Moscow traffic jams with it. But as soon as a little bit of a gap appears, Astra, with its explosive turbo pickup, immediately wins back. And in the operational space, and even more so, does not leave the Chevrolet Cruze any chance. Opel's suspension is more assembled - it better works out bumps and does not allow buildup. The Cruze has a slightly softer suspension, but hardly any comfort. Accordingly, the Astra steers more pleasantly, and writes turns more accurately. Chevrolet Cruze can only counter this with easier gear shifting (the effort is more noticeable on Opel) and slightly better visibility through the side mirrors. This is clearly not enough to even the score.

asked the price

Prices for a base Chevrolet Cruze with a 1.6-liter engine and a manual box start at 562,000 rubles. Opel Astra with a 1.4-liter atmospheric unit and "mechanics" is estimated at least 593,900 rubles, and with a 1.6-liter engine it will cost 629,900 rubles. The most expensive Chevrolet Cruze - with a 1.8-liter 141-horsepower unit and an "automatic" - will pull 769,000 rubles. Opel Astra in the top-end Cosmo version with a 1.4-liter turbo engine of almost the same power and an automatic transmission costs a little more - 794,000 rubles, and a similar car, but with the most powerful engine in the range - 1.6 turbo, 180 hp . - will cost 849,000 rubles. Given the superiority of Opel in equipment, we have approximate parity.

Outcome

Editor:

Chevrolet Cruze - the car seems to be not bad, but somehow boring and spineless. He does not have bright features, memorable features either in design or in behavior. In general, Cruze "did not hook" me. Another thing - Astra! Everything is in order here and with charisma, and with emotions, and with the pleasure of driving. The current generation of Astra came out extremely successful. You can, of course, speculate about the difference in price and the advantage of Opel participating in the test over Chevy in terms of equipment and engine power. But even in versions with engines of the same size and comparable trim levels, the Chevrolet Cruze is not so cheaper than the Opel Astra that there is a desire to give preference to it.

Good day to all!

Today's post is probably more like a questionnaire.

In the summer of 2014, I decided to sell my Mazda and buy a brand new car from the salon. Before Mazda, I had a Chevrolet Lacetti, an unpretentious car that has never let me down, actually pleasing my father at the present time.

And my choice as it immediately fell in the direction of Cruz, a white sedan in the maximum configuration 1.8 on the machine.

Went to salons, looked, and more and more like it.

At the same time selling your previous car.

And now the hour has come. The car is sold, the right amount in your pocket. I'm going to the salon to negotiate a car and leave an advance payment. And in a conversation with the manager, he accidentally wondered why it was Cruz, and not Opel, and so on.

Well, I told him that everything depends on money, and that the aster in the minimum configuration ends where

Cruz in the maximum configuration.

Well, here he is quite by accident, lasing on his computer, offers me my aster, with a turbo engine, 17 wheels, with an asset package + and only 15 thousand more expensive than Cruz.

The choice was clear, in the direction of the turbo engine and heated steering wheel)))

So I’m what it’s all about, I drive an Astra, but I still salivate on a white Cruz, and sometimes thoughts visit me, all the same, to buy it, a white sedan, with a tint in a circle, a black roof and on black disks ...

It is interesting here the opinion of people who went on both, to hear any positive / negative comparisons.

I'm also considering buying an Astra. I looked at several reviews and all as one complain about the lack of space in the knees for rear passengers. Tell me, as a former owner of a matryoshka, is there less space in the rear of the Mazda or the same amount?

I can say with 100% certainty that in the Opel hatch, there are more places than in the Mazda hatch!

And how is the turbo engine after atmospheric, how is it warmed up in winter, how is the dynamics, consumption?

Mazda drove better, it was a small rocket.

Stock GTC 1.4 turbo I went round. Well, there I had 2 liters and 150 horses for manual transmission.

It warms up quickly, in winter I start moving at 30 degrees slowly. I don’t heat it in positive temperature, I’m eating as the speed drops.

And so pleased with the machine, comfortable quiet and quite dynamic. The only thing that many children's sores, you can read about it in the BZ.

I also considered Cruz and Opel. Cruz seemed too literate. In this price segment, the Opel Astra is one of the best cars in appearance, inside, comfort and ease of driving. I say one of the best and not the best) After the Opel, I will only buy German, because. shoals of the Russian assembly come out.

I also dreamed and was on fire buying a Mazda 3) and after selling my car I went to buy it) but there was nothing worthy and expected) and an Opel Astra in the Cosmo configuration caught my eye) and as soon as I got into it, I realized that this was my car and I’m leaving on it now) it makes me very happy, but still a dream is a dream) and therefore, as I see a black Mazda 3 in a hatch, I salivate at it)

with regards to Mazda, the hatch in 1 body is of course legendary :)

I think he is the most beautiful of all generations!

he rules the ball) in Nizhny Novgorod, the guy was selling a club one) at maximum speed the last restyling but I didn’t have time ((it was a shame) but I’m also satisfied with my Opel purchase)

here I just had the last rest, with mp-3, manual transmission-6 and piano black panels

and why he moved)) of course, the Opel is more modern and, in my opinion, more cheerful)) but there is a Mazda) all the more so it was) they don’t do better anymore

because she was already 6 years old, and the mileage was 103 thousand, I sold it in half a day and for a very good amount, at a time when the market was in principle.

Opel quiet and comfortable car.

A 2-liter Mazda is a crazy stool, a small rocket :)

Thank you for your opinion.

Now I might consider a new seed, I really like it externally.

And I also considered Ford, but the reviews about the 3rd focus are already very bad, they say the car is not the same as before ...

As for the Ford, I agree, it’s not the same anymore, but I’m more of an example, in the context of anything but not an Opel)))

If I had a choice between Opel and Chevrolet, I would choose Kia. Or Ford. On the extreme Lada (as it turned out, Lada is more reliable than Opel). No offense, practice has shown that Opel is not worth the money due to problems with workmanship, and Cruz is 2/3 (if not 3/4) Opel, they have a lot of interchangeable parts. Moreover, due to the departure of GM from the Russian market, they have a big problem with selling on the secondary market, a friend has been trying to drain her GTC 1.4 on the handle for 3 months.

Once again, I ask you not to be offended by such an unusual opinion. I recommend that you carefully monitor the condition of the turbine, engine and cooling system - the most sore spots for this generation

Owned four Opels, from the Kadette to Jki, only pleased. All cars break down, no exceptions. And in terms of repair, the Opel is very simple and at a price slightly more expensive than a vase, but somewhere about the same. Between G and H I had focus 2, Spaniard. Well, I'll tell you that he patted my nerves like more than one Opel. As I remember now, when I sat on it after G, everyone thought that the doors were not closed because it was rustling in the cabin so that the passenger was barely audible. Shumka 0, stocks (factory) a lot, and in the repair of only one chassis costs such an amount that it's just tin. Consumption at 1.8 liters. more than on H ORS. On the Mazda, the zdil is the same as the focus, only outwardly different.

A LKP. it is generally a separate issue. Now on my aster the door was flattened by the previous owner, right from the end (I didn’t put it on the handbrake, the car rolled and rested the door against a pillar), so when the metal was planted back, the paint peeled off a little. And so far, she has remained unfinished. And at the place of the cleavage (the size of 2 thumbs), at least the slightest hint of rust, perfectly clean metal.

Mileage 150 thousand! Changed after buying the coolant reservoir, heat exchanger gaskets. Well, the rear rack taps. Compression in all boilers is 13 each. So much for Opil =)

A lot of people who slander them, but there are also those who will also say that this is an awesome car!)

Watch an interesting video on this topic

I managed to conduct my first comparative test of the Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cruze a year and a half ago, when Rostov was covered with the first snow. The disciplines that were then evaluated were the operation of the braking system and the handling of the Focus, as well as the geometric cross-country ability and accelerating dynamics of Cruz.

New Year's Eve winter evening. Rostov fell asleep with the first snow, utilities, as always, can not cope. I’m driving the Focus at the prescribed sixty along Taganrogskaya, it’s empty in front, I’m heating it up a little. Suddenly, from the adjacent street right in front of the nose, a girl on a Cruise is taxiing - she decided to slip at the intersection, but the wheels are slipping in the slush and the Chevrolet simply becomes across the road. Steering wheel left, right, skid, snowdrift… Everything worked out with a peeled bumper - thanks to the dealer for the donated winter Nokian Hakka, which kept the car on the trajectory until the end.

And now we have almost summer, and all the same Ford and Cruz - but now all the advantages and disadvantages of cars can be assessed in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, and at the same time, popular models can be compared with another classmate - Opel Astra.

The appearance of all three test participants is modern, but rather familiar. It's no joke, for the entire time of the test for our "trinity" drivers of passing cars paid attention only once - when one of the photographers climbed onto the roof of a high gazebo for a good shot. Nevertheless, each of the models has its own memorable design - Focus and Cruz have an emphasis on an aggressive front end, and Astra in a sedan, unlike the GTC platform, looks more imposing.

By the way, Opel Astra and Chevrolet Cruze have recently undergone restyling, which had a positive impact on the appearance of the models. Waiting for updates and Focus - and more radical than its competitors.

I will say right away - it will not be possible to fully maintain parity during today's test - it was not so easy to assemble three cars at the same time in Rostov, where there are no official representative offices of companies. They took cars from dealers, based on the principle of "take what they give." Hence, there is some variation in bodies (Focus in the hatchback body, and Cruze and Astra are sedans) and in transmissions - (the Ford model on the “handle”, the other two cars with “automatic”).

Each interior is original, but the leader in terms of equipment and quality is Opel in the Cosmo version.

First I pick up the Chevrolet Cruze - a feature of its interior in light fabric inserts that enliven the interior. Despite the fact that the model has been produced for a long time, the interior of the Chevrolet is still relevant. The ergonomics of the Koreans turned out to be successful, except that the finishing materials are a little rough. Of the minuses - the not very logical work of the “climate”, we took the car in a hurry and had to figure out the temperature settings on the go. It was not possible to do this reflexively. The optional display of the Chevrolet Cruze multimedia system in the LTZ configuration deserves only a positive assessment - it does not glare even in the bright sun, and the speed and interface are not satisfactory.

Opel Astra Ford Focus Chevrolet Cruze

All three cars are available with "automatic", but we got the Focus in the "mechanics" version. It's a pity, since the Ford Powershift is the most frisky in terms of gear shifting

When changing to Astra, you pay attention to the fact that the cars are made, in fact, on the same platform. This is evidenced by some details that you notice only when changing from car to car - the same ignition switch, as well as some secondary keys. But in general, the interior of the Opel Astra gives the impression of more expensive and high-quality thanks to leather-suede seat trim, tactile sensations from the buttons and less hard plastic in the Cosmo package. The minus is the same as that of Cruise - there is no “sit-and-go” option here, only here the numerous buttons scattered on the central panel require getting used to. But everything looks stylish - a kind of oval office on wheels.

Any test drive participant can be taken both with an economical 1.6 engine and with more powerful versions.

The Focus Salon is perhaps the most futuristic of today's "trinity". Of course, adjusted for the expensive Titanium version, there are the best finishing materials here, but even in the simpler Focus Trend and Trend Sport trim levels, despite the absence of a number of options, the interior is implemented no worse. For design - first place. But the back is closer than in classmates - after all, this is primarily a car for the driver.

Landing is most convenient in Astra - because of its steering wheel, having settled down once, you don’t want to get out. The seats are moderately hard, with good lateral support, and the Astra sedan, again, looks preferable in terms of space for passengers. The trunks of sedans also win in terms of practicality - in the Focus it is smaller, due to the hatchback body. But for comparison, I looked into the luggage compartment of a sedan in the Ford dealer's cabin, it is longer and more spacious, although the loading height is high due to the high line of the raised floor. But in terms of the convenience of opening and closing the luggage compartment, Astra loses to Cruz and Focus, you can’t just open the trunk from the outside - either from the key or from the passenger compartment.

The expected outsider in terms of acceleration dynamics is the Chevrolet Cruze. The fact is that for the test we got a car with a base engine. In tandem with a six-speed "automatic" such an engine has a quiet ride. But Cruz became the most economical according to the test results - less than 10 liters when driving around the city with the air conditioning on!

And for those who want more, we can safely recommend Cruz with a 1.8 engine - one hundred and forty "horses" under the hood is already enough for those who like to be smart.

Opel Astra Ford F ocus Chevrolet Cruze

Cruz and Astra's emphasis on driving characteristics is shifted towards comfort, and Focus - towards driving ambitions

By the way!

Analysts predict another jump in sales in the golf-class car market - they say, buyers are fed up with emphatically utilitarian "state employees" and the bar of expectations has risen. No wonder - the average price of a car sold in Russia over the past year was about 900 thousand, and this is exactly the cost of a well-equipped golf-class car.

And the most voracious is the Ford Focus, the consumption in the city never drops below 11, even in a quiet driving mode. But the Focus is perceived as more dynamic - and not only the test 125-horsepower, but also weaker, with 105 "horses" under the hood. There are no complaints about the “mechanics”, the gears are stuck in clearly, and the clutch is “light” and informative.

I can’t help but say a few words about the preselective “robot” Powershift, because after all, this version is more popular in Russia. On the one hand, the six-speed gearbox switches quickly, without delay. On the other hand, during city driving in traffic jams, one cannot do without “kicks” when switching to the second and third, and with an increase in mileage, such a “diagnosis” only intensifies.

Opel Astra with a turbine already develops 140 hp. which makes it the fastest in the “overall standings”, the speedometer needle covers the risk of 100 km / h in less than 9 seconds. The hydromechanical “automatic” is not as quick as the Focus robot, but it does its job more smoothly. The manual mode is also best implemented - with a forced transition to a lower one, you can safely go for overclocking.

The leaders in multimedia systems are Cruz and Astra

When it comes to how suspensions work, each car is set up differently. Astra and Cruz tend to be more comfortable, subjectively, cars are perceived as softer than the Focus. Ford is more rigid, but it is driven more recklessly - the chassis is tuned for those who like to drive fast, and not on the best roads. Driving on the highway on all three test participants is easy - after all, the gap in the chassis settings compared to the "state employees" is huge here. The soundproofing of all three cars is at a decent level, but there are leaders and outsiders here. The quietest is still Astra, and then go downhill Cruz and Focus.

Opel Astra Ford F ocus Chevrolet Cruze

As soon as there is a gap from the cars ahead, I press the gas pedal to the floor, and then I brake sharply - all three cars slow down without surprises, and the ABS catches on time. It was not possible to make accurate measurements, but subjectively, Astra slows down best of all, and Focus with Cruz is a little worse.

It's time to return the cars to dealers, and we think about who is still the best in today's trio. Our test did not reveal a clear winner - each model has its own advantages and disadvantages, as well as numerous armies of fans. By the way, the reviews of the owners of Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra on the forums largely coincided with today's impression of the cars.

Opel Astra Ford F ocus Chevrolet Cruze

In terms of convenience and size of the luggage compartment, Cruz and Astra are in the lead

The main trump card of the Chevrolet Cruze is an excellent combination of price and consumer qualities. Modern design, good equipment, and after a recent restyling, turbo engines as an option - all this makes the Cruise one of the best offers in the class. Cruz's cons are the abundance of hard plastic in the cabin and a rather weak motor in the "base".

Astra sedan is one of the most practical and comfortable cars in its segment. With similar parameters, it is slightly more expensive than the Cruise built on the same platform, but it also wins in terms of equipment and finishes. In a word, if there is an opportunity to pay extra, it makes sense to make a choice in favor of Opel.

Focus - the choice of the active driver. In terms of controllability, he puts competitors on both blades, competing on equal terms with the trendsetter of the genre in the class - VW Golf. At the same time, Ford is noisier, tougher and more gluttonous. It feels like a more youthful car, especially in a hatchback body.

Who is against?

Today's test did not cover the large family of the VAG concern - Skoda Octavia, VW Golf and Seat Leon (the cost of "medium" configurations is 800-850,000 rubles, "top" - around a million). No less significant competition is made by the “Japanese” with the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Mazda 3 models - on average from 700,000 rubles for the “basic” versions, and up to a million for “full stuffing”.

The choice between cars that turn out to be approximately the same in terms of their technical data turns out to be quite difficult. For example, which is better - Opel Astra or Chevrolet Cruze? They both belong to the same automobile class, and are also the brainchild of the same automobile corporation - General Motors. But this does not mean that these cars are absolutely identical. They have their own advantages and disadvantages, which should be discussed in more detail so that the choice is not so difficult.

I would like to start comparing the Opel Astra and Chevrolet Cruze with their appearance, because this is the first thing that most buyers pay attention to. Looking at Opel, I would like to note that its design successfully combines fashion trends, as well as the good old "chips" that many fans of this automobile brand like. Body lines practically do not have right angles, which certainly adds to the modernity of the overall appearance.

Thoughtful body aerodynamics can significantly reduce fuel consumption, and also contributes to better vehicle stability on the road surface. Of course, one can hardly classify the Opel Astra as a sports car, but its driving characteristics are quite good.

As for the Chevrolet, it also looks quite aggressive and sporty. The radiator grill is made quite massive, which gives aggressiveness and brutality to the whole appearance. Also, the headlights of the car are made in a similar style, resembling the eyes of a dangerous predator, but the manufacturers obviously failed the bumper. It looks very thin, out of the general concept of the exterior.

Opel Astra or Chevrolet Cruze? If we consider them in terms of appearance, then we would give Opel a slight advantage, because its design looks more logical and complete. As for the Chevrolet, it also looks quite decent, but looking at it, one does not leave the feeling that the manufacturer has not fully thought out its entire concept, which is why it looks somewhat unfinished.

car interior

The interior of the Opel Astra would certainly appeal to admirers of Hi-tech style. There are so many different toggle switches, buttons and switches here that it could well compete with some futuristic aircraft. Of course, this comparison is somewhat strained, but here it is really clear that the developers have fully invested in the functionality.

As for the upholstery materials, they are quite high quality. No rough seams were noticed, therefore, from this side of the issue, everything here looks on the level.

Salon Chevrolet Cruze is also very stylish and high quality. If there was not enough drive in the appearance of the car, then the sporty style clearly prevails in the cabin. The instrument panel looks especially bright, as well as the smooth lines of the trim elements. If we compare cars in this component, then we would give Chevrolet a slight advantage, because its style looks more aesthetic. In addition, it is pleasing that in its cabin there are a large number of different niches and compartments where various small things could be stored.

Transmission and engine

In the configuration of Opel Astra cars there are two power units. Both engines run on gasoline, but they have a different power rating. The first engine has only 101 horsepower, but the second is much more powerful - 180 horsepower. The fact that you can buy a car with a different type of transmission is also encouraging. If you are a fan of fast driving, as well as complete control over the car, then you can buy a car with a manual transmission. If you appreciate comfort more, then automatic transmission is more suitable for you.

As for Chevrolet, there is a little more variability in its lineup. Initially, this car was also equipped with two types of engines:

  • One had a capacity of 109 horsepower with a volume of 1.6 liters.
  • The second engine was more powerful - 140 horsepower with a volume of 1.8 liters.

Relatively recently, a new unit was added to them - an engine with a capacity of 140 horsepower with a volume of 1.4 liters. With a sufficiently high power, this engine consumes fuel very economically, which is explained by its small volume. That is why the Chevrolet Cruze has a slight advantage in this dispute.

Specifications

Before answering the question, Astra or Cruz - which is better to buy for a comfortable ride, you need to pay attention to the technical characteristics of these cars.

Let's take a look at the Chevrolet data first:

  • Manufacturer - Korea.
  • Body type - sedan.
  • Number of doors - 4.
  • The volume of the engine is 1598 cubic centimeters.
  • Power rating - 109 hp
  • Torque - 200 Nm.
  • The maximum developed speed is 185 km / h.
  • Acceleration to 100 km per hour - 12.5 s.
  • Gearbox type - 5 speed manual.
  • Fuel consumption - 7.3 liters per 100 km.
  • Dimensions (LxWxH) - 451 cm / 179.7 cm / 147.7 cm.
  • Weight - 1404 kg.
  • The volume of the fuel tank is 60 liters.
  • Trunk volume - 413 liters.
  • The average cost is 1.157 million rubles.

Consider the similar characteristics of the Opel Astra:

  • Manufacturer - Germany.
  • Body type - sedan.
  • Number of doors - 4.
  • The volume of the engine is 1364 cubic centimeters.
  • Power indicator - 140 hp
  • Torque - 200 Nm.
  • Acceleration to 100 km per hour - 9.9 s.
  • Gearbox type - 6 speed manual.
  • Fuel consumption - 5.9 liters per 100 km.
  • Dimensions (LxWxH) - 441.9 cm / 181.4 cm / 151 cm.
  • Weight - 1405 kg.
  • The volume of the fuel tank is 56 liters.
  • Trunk volume - 460 liters.
  • The average cost is 1.198 million rubles.
  • The maximum developed speed is 202 km / h.

Based on these characteristics, it can be seen that Chevrolet is inferior to Opel in some fairly important indicators. If we compare their speed qualities, it is clear that over a long distance, in track conditions, Opel will win with a significant advantage. This is due not only to better acceleration and overall speed, but also to the presence of a rigid suspension, i.e. in Astra, almost everything is sharpened at high speeds.

During the test drive, it was also revealed that the handling of the Opel is somewhat better than the Chevrolet. This is especially important at the speeds that the Astra is capable of developing, so this car wins in this component as well.

Opinion of motorists

No matter how detailed technical data about a particular car, the most important thing is practical information from those people who have operated vehicles in various conditions. That is why, we will study the reviews of the owners of these cars, who know firsthand about all the advantages and disadvantages identified in the process of driving.

Consider the advantages of the Chevrolet Cruze:

  • There is a fairly good climate control system available, which allows you to feel comfortable in the cabin at any time of the year.
  • The steering wheel and seats are quite comfortable, which is very important for driver comfort.
  • The suspension is not rigid, but this cannot be called its disadvantage. The car feels great on the road, but it obviously does not pull the declared 180 km per hour.
  • Good sound insulation of the cabin.
  • The windshield is strong enough to withstand several large stones.

As for the cons of this car, they are as follows:

  • In rainy weather, the visibility of the side mirrors deteriorates significantly. The fact is that the rain literally floods the side windows, so the rear view worsens.
  • Fuel consumption is quite high, because in urban conditions it can be at least 15 liters.
  • Low speed, which is explained by a rather weak engine and a large mass of the car.
  • There are two versions of this car - with mechanics and automatic. So, some motorists strongly do not recommend taking an automatic transmission, explaining that the car will not survive the milestone of 70 thousand kilometers.

As for the advantages of the Opel Astra, motorists note the following positive points:

  • Noise isolation of the cabin at a high level.
  • The rigidity of the suspension seems to be an advantage on the one hand, but can cause problems in cold weather - it starts to rattle and knock.
  • Good handling on the road, as well as good ground clearance for this class of car.
  • Fuel consumption is quite economical in urban areas.

The disadvantages of the Opel Astra are as follows:

  • According to some reviews, it can be judged that the seats in the cabin do not differ in sufficient comfort.
  • The rigidity of the suspension can cause repairs in the winter season.
  • Poor car liquidity. Even with a low mileage and a good condition of the car, it can be sold on the secondary market for no more than half.
  • The menu is quite confusing, so you will have to spend a little time studying it.

The tests carried out showed that the reliability of the body of these cars is approximately the same. Therefore, there is no unambiguous answer to the question of which is more reliable - Chevrolet Cruze or Opel Astra.

If we sum up some results, we can note the fact that the choice in favor of a particular car is formed, depending on where it will be used for more time. So, the Chevrolet Cruze is more adapted for driving in urban conditions, but the Astra also shows itself quite well here. Their price is approximately the same, but the operation of the Opel will cost a little more in the future. If this does not scare you, and you like fast driving, then choose Astra. But again, the choice is a rather individual and subjective thing, which is largely influenced by personal preferences and tastes.

Big test drive deployed about the Chevrolet Cruze

Good day!

I want to tell the story of the short ownership of the Chevrolet Cruze. The car is not my first, when choosing some experience of ownership has already been, including Chevrolet. But somehow the bad is forgotten quickly, and I bought into the fact that the last Chevrolet was a Niva, our domestic car, and here it’s like Korea, it’s kind of inexpensive and rich. It turned out to be an erroneous opinion. I will make a reservation - before Cruz was a Skoda Fabia, maybe a small, but very worthy car in all respects. She set the bar high enough when choosing the next car. There were quite a few potential candidates, mostly the Japanese on the machine, I really liked the Lancer X 1.8 of my now wife. Here are some of the candidates - all of 2009 - Mitsubishi Lancer X 2.0, Mazda 3 2.0, Honda Civic sedan, Toyota Corolla on automatic transmission and certainly not on a robot, Skoda Octavia and many others. In principle, the Japanese were good, but everyone had their own cockroaches ... Lance scared away the CVT, Mazda is very low and tough, Honda is low and there are problems with the steering rack, Corolla is just cramped, boring, and just no. About Skoda Octavia I will say that I liked it very much, but when the purchase was already looming, we decided to choose from new cars, and Oktashka came out a little expensive — 640 sput. In the simplest configuration on the handle on the oars, of the options only Conder. ALL! Volga some — then chesslovo … And then he began to consider the new but more stuffed. Hyundai Solaris - dynamic, very comfortable, just appeared, but the suspension is junk and the machine itself, as time has shown, is not very reliable and just not very good in itself. Kia Rio is better but also not great, besides cramped and small. Volks Polo almost bought a sedan, on full stuffing with a gun it turned out not too expensive, new and quite a machine. Was ready to buy it, but then we went with a friend to a nearby salon and saw it! A handsome, big, snow-white Chevrolet Cruze priced like a Polo sedan. Tempting!

So. We did a test drive and I was on fire with the purchase! The wife dissuaded but retreated, it was useless to argue. A week later, he became the owner of this snow-white handsome man. Engine 1.6, automatic, basic equipment which seemed to have everything you need — air conditioning, front electric windows, electric mirrors, heated seats, and so on. It was euphoria, life was good! Two days later, the seat creaked under me. It happens. Nonsense. I noticed a wild fuel consumption — 25 liters in a quiet mode. It happens, it's a rip-off. I remembered that at Skoda, the consumption was immediately low and did not change for almost a hundred thousand kilometers, up to 8-10 in the city and on the highway in the region of 5-7, depending on the speed. I wrote off the expense for the fact that the machine is still quite new and the motor is not Shkodovsky, but the ancient Opelevsky like the last Nexia (not a very pleasant comparison), and you have to be patient a little and everything will be fine, including constantly floating engine speeds (well, not should be SO on a new car!). I started driving and every day I enjoyed it - a big car, beautiful, automatic, a lot of all sorts of buttons, they notice a car on the road, they stopped brazenly pushing it out and cutting it, well, Skoda and I are used to this, the costs of the Russian mentality. Over time, I began to notice back pain, the seats are simply no good. There is no steering wheel adjustment in the initial configuration, the landing is low, there is simply no back support, it is impossible to get behind the wheel. Unpleasant. Two days later, the paint broke off from the front bumper at the junction of the bumper and the fender - they refused to paint under warranty. The manager argued that it was a chip from a pebble, but how could he get there, because it’s clear to a fool — the bumper is skewed, on the other hand the bumper is not even adjacent to the wing! Nevertheless, the argument of the manager was iron - the St. Petersburg assembly, on Insignia this is also all the time. It's okay, we'll survive. I would like to separately talk about the quality of service in Chevrolet car dealerships, we have 3 of them in Yekaterinburg, I will not name them. How competently the dealership manager Dmitry shared a bunch of gifts when buying a car from him and did not fulfill a single promise, just a born huckster. Just as competently, he managed to sell, yes, yes, to boil a obviously low-quality product. What is the difference between Ford dealers. Ford Focus 3 was considered as an inexpensive alternative to the Cruise, the quality of finish and assembly of both disappointed. As for the Russian assembly, it all depends on the manufacturer, the Skoda Fabia was assembled in Kaluga and passed 100 thousand km. km. without a single breakdown, I now also have a Skoda Octavia assembled in Kaluga and have no complaints, everything is at a high level.
