Vehicle movement with increased turnover on country roads and high-speed highways, it is also not a problem for Shell Helix HX8 5W40 oil. In addition, lubrication, together with the cooling system, protects the engine from overheating and resists premature wear of structural parts.

Technical information

Engine oil has the following technical indicators:

according to the SAE standard, the product is a full-fledged 5W40;
the viscosity of mechanical circulation at a temperature of 100 ℃ is, on average, 14.4 mm² / s - the consistency is slightly thicker than similar materials;
the viscosity of mechanical circulation at a temperature of 40 ℃ - 87.5 mm² / s;
unique detergent properties due to high base number- 10.14 mg KOH per 1 g;
acceptable acid number - 1.91 mg KOH per 1 g;
sulphate ash content uncharacteristic for such a structural composition - 1.13%, which is rather a positive indicator;
in comparison with other analogs, slightly high sulfur content - 0.400%;
good evaporation rate - 8%;
organic molybdenum in the role of an antiwear component and the same character of an additive based on a phosphorus and zinc compound;
thermal stability is limited by a threshold of 239 ℃;
minus oil limit - 45 ℃.

Based on the data technical parameters, we can conclude that the most modern base oil materials were used in the manufacture of oil.

Specifications and packaging

Shell Helix HX8 5W40 meets the American Petroleum Institute CF / SN indices and the A3 / B3 and A3 / B4 quality tolerances from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. European approvals allow to increase the regulated operating interval between oil changes.

These lubricants have been approved for use by Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Renault and Fiat. In accordance with the specification standards, the lubricant product can be used in any vehicle third party brand.

Since 2016, Shell has renewed the original packaging. The changes concerned the design of the canister and the label, the anti-counterfeiting system was added in the form of a tear-off sticker on the package lid.

The oil is poured into plastic containers with a capacity of 1 l, 4 l, 55 l and a metal barrel with a volume of 209 l.
