Why does the car sweat from the inside. How to effectively deal with fogging of windows in the car? Causes of fogging of the windshield and other glasses

17.07.2020

Absolutely any driver, professional or novice, sooner or later, is faced with a problem when the windows in the car are sweating, they don’t always understand what to do. The sweaty windows of your favorite car not only cause discomfort, limiting the visibility of the driver during the start of movement vehicle, but also affect the immediate safety of traffic, and, no matter how sad it sounds, can be the cause of an accident.

Often, motorists do not know why the windows in the car fog up and how to deal with the difficulty by wiping the windshield with a rag or sleeve. Let's understand why the windows in the car sweat from the inside and how to fix the situation? First of all, you can use alarmauto-vrn.ru car interior care services - protective covering for glasses and special compounds that treat car surfaces will significantly improve the situation.

Reasons why car windows sweat.

Condensation on glasses is a product of an extraordinary physical phenomenon and occurs as a result of steam condensation, in other words, vaporization.

It is in view of this that, one and all, drivers do not attach much importance to the wet glasses of their beloved iron horse, considering this an ordinary phenomenon, although there are several reasons for the occurrence of condensate on the windows of the car. So: fogging of windows in a car why it happens and what to do:

1. In cool and winter time years, the windows in the car are covered with perspiration from a sharp difference in temperature and humidity between the car and the street. Warm air car showroom interacts with cold air brought into the car from the street, as a result of which the windows are covered with a thin layer of condensate.

2. This also happens in wet weather, during rain. The reason is not uncommon - the humidity in the cabin rises due to the evaporation of moisture from wet rugs, wet clothes for the driver and passengers, and car seats. The stove dries out things, and the evaporating moisture covers the windows in condensate. In addition to wet rugs and clothes, damage to the insulation can be a source of perspiration. windshield or violation of the integrity of the car door seals.

3. Pollution or malfunction of the cabin filter, as well as its rare replacement and cleaning, leads to a deterioration in air conductivity, and as a result, such a problem.

4. The windows of your car can also sweat in the event of a broken valve or sensor that regulates the normal operation of the valve flaps. Due to these problems, air does not enter the cabin.

5. An oily film on the windows of a car is a dangerous signal of a leak in the radiator, under dashboard cars and one of the causes of misted windows.

6. Washing your favorite car - moisture gets inside the cabin, and he does not have time to dry.

7. A “cheerful” passenger who is in a tipsy state is also, albeit transient, the cause of fogging of windows in a car. Alcohol vapors absorb moisture and settle on the car windows in the form of condensate.

How to fix fogging on car windows.

We found out the key reasons why the windows inside the car sweat, the windshield from the inside? now our task is to try to prevent such a phenomenon, or easily get rid of the problem. The following steps will help you do this:

1. Correction of the settings of the climate system of your car. Directed flow, included blowing warm air on the glass will cope with this. Also, the presence of an air conditioner will allow you to cope with the task in a few minutes.

2. The use of specialized anti-fogging equipment, or in other words, anti-fogging agents. The wide selection on the market today allows you to choose any to your taste, in the form of liquids, spray or wipes. The most famous are such as Ombrello VISIO, "Antituman", etc.

3. Preventive ventilation of the car interior, its drying will also help to cope with the task, and you will no longer have a question, how to fog up the windows in the car, what to do about it.

4. Timely car diagnostics. Do not forget to replace or clean cabin filters, evaluate the health of the valve or sensor that regulates the valve flaps, as well as the radiator.

5. One simple step will help you deal with condensation on the side windows. You just need to open side windows, seals will quickly rid the windows of moisture.

6. Turning on the ventilation system together with the stove will cope with the task of eliminating misted windows. If you turn on only the stove, the air will circulate in a circle without eliminating the problem.

Wet weather and rain, the windows in the car sweat, what should I do?

Wet weather and rain provoke condensation on the windows of the car, what should I do if the windows in the car fog up in this case? A few simple tips will help you deal with this:

1. After you have started driving, you can slightly open the side windows to improve the circulation of air in the cabin, and after the trip, open the doors for fresh air.

2. Carry out preventive drying of the car interior, in particular, on the eve of autumn and winter.

3. Do not leave wet clothes, umbrellas in the cabin, dry the mats periodically.

4. Timely change or clean cabin filter, as well as troubleshoot the valve or sensor that regulates the operation of the valve flaps.

What to do if the windows in the car sweat in the winter season?

In the winter season, the dilemma of what to do if the windows in the car are sweating, and how to deal with it, is especially relevant. Many modern cars are equipped with glass heating systems that provide quick drying of windows in the car.

It is also recommended to systematically check the operation of the stove and fan. To quickly get rid of this, it is necessary to include, in addition to the stove, the ventilation system. Thus, the incoming air from the street is mixed with the air inside the car.

If the windshield sweats from the inside, what to do with such a problem? Simple enough - so that the windows do not sweat in the car, the driver can purchase special composition. It is very convenient to use, it is available in the form of a liquid and a spray, such a special tool is enough for 2 weeks of use.

The windows in the car fog up from the inside - how to deal with this folk remedies?

If there are no purchased funds at hand, what to do in this situation? They will come to the rescue folk remedies and tricks:

1. Shaving foam.

It is necessary to apply a thin layer of shaving cream or gel on the glass, then wipe it with a rag or paper.

Surprising but true! Salt perfectly absorbs moisture, and in order to prevent the windows in the car from fogging up, it is necessary to place paper bags filled with salt under the windows. Salt will absorb all the condensate, and fogged windows will no longer be a problem for you.

This fruit is a real helper in the fight against fogging of glasses, it is not difficult to find it in any grocery store. We cut the lemon into two parts and wipe the car windows, wipe with a towel.

Many experienced drivers wipe the windows of their cars with an ordinary newspaper, it not only eliminates streaks and adds shine, but also perfectly absorbs moisture.

5. Ordinary soap!

In order not to sweat the glass in the car, it is enough to draw squares with soap in the corners of the windshield and wipe it with a rag. The soap forms a thin film on the window and protects the glass.

6. Self-made defogger.

The composition of such a kind of super-remedy includes ethyl alcohol and glycerin, all this is easy to purchase at a pharmacy within walking distance. The components are mixed in a ratio of 1:20, part of glycerin to 20 parts of alcohol. The mixture for convenience only remains to be poured into a spray bottle from a window cleaner.

Summing up

In the current article, we figured out why the windows in the car sweat inside the cabin, examined the most common causes why this is happening. Every car owner is interested in learning the basic ways to eliminate fogging of windows in a car. We examined the most popular among motorists. It is not necessary to run to the nearest automotive goods store, there is an opportunity to cope with folk remedies.

In general, it is quite easy and simple to solve the problem with sweaty windows in a car!

Misted windows bring car owners a lot of inconvenience. The visibility of the road deteriorates, and the risk of getting into an accident increases. Most often, people face similar problems in rainy weather and in winter. To save drivers from a headache, many manufacturers have begun to produce cars with a glass heating function. However, most vehicle owners are still forced to solve problems on their own.

Far from always clouded windows, on which condensate accumulates, are the result of weather changes or the fact that there is a tipsy passenger in the cabin. There are many other factors that can be eliminated to improve visibility.

Causes of fogging car windows

Of course, the most obvious reason lies in the condensate. When the air temperature is very different from the temperature inside the machine, water droplets form and settle on the glass surface. They are covered in sweat. Also, the deterioration of visibility can be affected by:

  • Increased humidity in the car interior. When in rainy weather people get into the car in wet clothes and turn on the stove, this leads to the rapid evaporation of moisture, which settles on the surface of the windshield and side windows.
  • Clogged cabin filter. If this device ceases to absorb moisture and dust in the right amount, then condensation will also form on the glasses.
  • Defective clean air valve. If the sensor dampers cease to function in normal mode, then the circulation of air flows in the passenger compartment is disturbed.

Also, the problem may lie in the system, which is responsible for a kind of drainage in the car. If the holes for removing excess water are clogged with foliage and dirt, then this often provokes the appearance of perspiration on the glasses.

As a rule, solving technical problems in a car helps to get rid of the fogging of car windows. But, sometimes the car owner simply has no time to deal with diagnostics or the causes of perspiration are associated with other factors. In this case, you must follow the recommendations that will help solve the problem.

  • Get into the car only in clean shoes, so as not to bring excess dampness into the interior. Anyone who has ever got into a car in winter or during heavy rain is well aware that it is simply impossible to completely clean the boots in such a situation. The only way is to wear galoshes or shoe covers on the street. Agree, few people want to become such a “fashionista” and even more so offer such solutions to car passengers.
  • Use rubber mats. All the water from the boots accumulates on them, which can be easily poured into the street. These tools protect the bottom of the car from corrosion. However, while the motorist waits for the snow on the tread of the boots to melt and drain onto the mat, the moisture will evaporate and settle on the glass. Therefore, this also does not help to fully solve the problem.
  • Setting up the stove and ventilation. When it's humid outside, many people advise simply switching the car's regular fan to air circulation mode, which, it is believed, after numerous runs through the stove, will become much drier. However, in practice, such manipulations with the recirculation of air flows lead to even more fogging.

  • The use of salt. Some craftsmen, having read that salt absorbs moisture well, begin to diligently rub glass with it, especially in winter. Of course, this component dissolves snow well and absorbs liquid, but do not forget about the abrasive properties of salt. If you start rubbing the glass with it, then small scratches will remain on them, which will only lead to their greater pollution and wear.

It makes no sense to waste time on the methods described above. It is better to get rid of excess moisture formation using more effective methods.

How to get rid of perspiration

The first step is to replace the cabin filter. Drivers rarely think that the service life of this element is no more than 20,000 km. Experts recommend buying new activated carbon filters. Such products perfectly purify the air, and do not allow chemical fumes to enter the cabin.

Other helpful tips to consider include:

  • There should always be clean soft wipes in the car interior. If the windows are suddenly fogged up and there is no time to find the root cause of the sweat, then you can clean the windows from the inside and send a fan to them. This will help temporarily solve the problem.

  • Trunk work. First of all, it is worth removing luggage compartment all wet things and generally make it a rule not to litter it. Also, some car owners cut small openings in the side trim and cover them with plastic bars. Such a cardinal measure allows you to improve the air exchange in the car.
  • Hood grille. If snow or dirt accumulates on it, then you should not be lazy to clean this part before each trip.
  • Warming up Before driving, especially in winter, it is recommended to first warm up the interior of the vehicle a little. This should be done gradually so as not to create sudden temperature changes. It is best to direct the heating to all windows and turn it on medium.

Sometimes there is no time for such manipulations. In this case, some turn on the stove to the fullest and get not the most best result. To quickly get rid of perspiration, it is recommended to use special formulations.

Specialized defoggers

Easiest to buy special liquid and spray it on car windows. The cost of the anti-fog is from 80 to 600 rubles, depending on the composition of the product. The cheapest drugs use glycerin. However, this liquid leaves iridescent smudges on the glasses.

It is better to give preference to anti-foggers based on mastic. They are more expensive, but much more efficient. After covering the surface with such a tool, drops of water will literally repel from it. The action of such trains is enough for several trips (up to 72 hours).

Important! Liquids of this type will only work if they are applied to clean and dry surfaces. Spraying anti-fogging agent on fogged glass won't change anything.

In winter, it is more rational to use various anti-freeze and anti-ice. They can not only be poured into glass washers, but also sprayed onto windows from the inside of the passenger compartment. These liquids contain alcohol, which keeps surfaces clean longer.

Some make their own defoggers. To do this, it is enough to mix 20 parts of pharmacy alcohol and one share of glycerin. The resulting mixture is poured into a spray bottle and applied to the glass.

There are other methods, using the cheapest means, that help to forget about perspiration.

If there was no specialized fluid nearby, then you can temporarily solve the problem using:

  • Shaving foam. The composition is applied in a thin layer on the glass and wiped with a clean cloth.
  • Lemon. For this method, it is necessary to cut the fruit and rub it with glass pulp. After that, the surfaces are wiped with a soft cloth.
  • Salt. If you use this component correctly, you can achieve a good effect. It is enough to fill several paper bags with salt and place them next to the glasses.
  • Newspapers. This "grandfather's" tool helps to temporarily clean windows and prevent condensation. It is enough just to wipe the windows with thin paper.
  • Soap. With it, you need to draw small squares at the four corners of the glass. After that, the entire surface is wiped with a dry cloth. Thus, a thin protective film is formed on the glasses, and visibility does not deteriorate.

In custody

Most of these methods allow you to get rid of the problem for a while. However, if the windows begin to sweat with enviable regularity, then it is best to carry out a complete diagnosis of the car. As preventive measures, it will not be superfluous to periodically ventilate the interior of the car, dry the upholstery, clean the mats and drain the liquid from them in a timely manner. Sometimes moisture accumulates in the soundproofing material. So it's worth finding out possible reasons the appearance of sweat.

During the operation of the car, the driver may encounter various inconveniences. Wherein real problem are those that affect not only comfort, but also safety. In practice, in some cases, the headlights may be too weak even after changing the bulbs, which makes it very difficult to drive at night. In such a situation, you can solve the problem or replace them.

In other cases, the driver is faced with the fact that the windows in the car are heavily fogged up, and this does not always happen only in rain or wet weather. One way or another, fogged glass affects visibility and impairs visibility, leads to stress and fatigue while driving, and also significantly reduces overall safety.

At the same time, not everyone knows why the windows in the car sweat. Next, we will consider the reasons for fogging of windows in a car when the fogged glass indicates possible faults car, as well as what to do if the windows in the car sweat.

So, if windows sweat in a car, it often happens in winter, during rain or fog, that is, in conditions of high humidity. Naturally, visibility in such conditions is already usually poor, and if we add to this that the windshield, rear and side windows are sweating, the risks of an accident increase significantly.

It also happens that the cause of misted glass is not only the weather. In any case, you need to know what to do in such a situation and what measures to take so that the windows in the car do not sweat. Let's deal with the causes and ways to fix the problem.

  • Let's start with the simplest. First of all, glasses sweat in winter due to the fact that condensation forms as a result of the interaction of warm air inside the cabin and cold air outside. The specified condensate settles on the glasses, causing the windows in the car to fog up.

Often the windows sweat when it rains. As a rule, this happens due to the fact that the humidity in the cabin rises significantly. Moreover, from wet clothes and shoes of the driver / passengers, as well as from the rugs, moisture begins to actively evaporate after the stove is turned on, while it settles on the windows.

  • Now let's move on to the less obvious reasons why the windows in the car sweat. For example, if there are passengers in the passenger compartment who have recently consumed alcohol, then this is the reason why the windows in the car are sweating.

In fact, the vapors of alcohol exhaled by a person who has consumed alcohol have the ability to absorb moisture, which causes it to settle on the windows in the car and fog up the windows in the car.

Also, fogging of the glass in the car is caused by malfunctions in the interior ventilation system. Often, we are talking about the interior air filter. Its contamination, defects, model mismatch or installation errors cause the cabin filter to not absorb moisture and dust properly. The result is foggy glass.

Another cause of fogging windows can often be driver errors or malfunctions that do not allow fresh air from outside to enter the cabin. First, on many cars there is a function to turn on air recirculation in the cabin without taking it from outside.

In fact, the damper blocks the inflow of outside fresh air, and the air from the passenger compartment circulates in a circle. In certain situations, this function is useful, as it allows you to avoid dust and unpleasant odors from the outside, the interior can be warmed up or cooled down faster by turning on recirculation, etc.

However, interior air recirculation does not need to be permanently on. If you close the fresh air supply to long time(20-40 minutes) or more, the windows will begin to sweat actively, the driver and passengers may also feel drowsiness, deterioration, etc. The reason is a lack of oxygen, a noticeable increase in air humidity inside the cabin, etc.

If the air recirculation is turned off, and the windows are still sweating for no apparent reason, the valve may break, through which fresh air enters the cabin. outdoor air. The sensor that controls the damper may also fail.

We also add that the cause of fogging windows in a car can be an inconspicuous leak of various technical fluids. As a rule, if the radiator of the heater (stove) or any branch pipe is leaking, the coolant can enter the passenger compartment and evaporate, settling on the windows in the form of an oily mist.

It is necessary to study the features of the device of the stove on specific model auto, carry out diagnostics, etc. If the mat is noticeably wet on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, you need to figure out what is leaking and where. In this case, measures must be taken immediately, since it is very harmful to breathe, serious malfunctions in the engine cooling system are possible, it cannot be ruled out (if the clutch drive flows into the legs), etc.

Driver actions to prevent glass from sweating: ways to fix the problem

So, having figured out the reasons why the windows in the car often sweat, you can move on to what to do in such a situation. Of course, the easiest way is to buy a rag and constantly wipe the glass before driving.

You can also constantly turn on the stove, drying the interior. The downside is to wait a long time for the internal combustion engine to warm up during a cold start and for the windows to fog up. True, you can constantly turn on the air conditioner (if available), which quickly “dries” the air and removes moisture, but fuel consumption increases, the resource decreases air conditioner etc.

Moreover, this approach to removing moisture with a rag or using an air conditioner does not solve the problem itself, but only allows you to get rid of the consequences. If you need a more efficient solution, below we will consider ways to avoid fogging.

So, in order not to sweat the windows in the car in winter, it is important to understand that on different cars The glasses themselves differ in quality and properties. It is good if the car will have multilayer athermal glass. Even better, when in addition there is the possibility of heating the car windows (heating rear window, windshield, etc.).

The presence of glasses that are less prone to fogging, as well as their heating, allows you to quickly dry the windows in the car without turning on the stove or air conditioning. Also in winter, glass heating allows you to quickly clean the windows themselves from ice and snow from the outside. It turns out that if the problem of glass fogging is acute for the driver, you need to take into account this feature even at the stage of choosing a car.

  • We go further. To reduce fogging of windows, it is also necessary to periodically maintain the heating and ventilation system of the car interior, check the operation of the stove, fan, etc. As mentioned above, you need to change the cabin filter in a timely manner, turn off recirculation.

You can also stick a special film on the glass, reminiscent of tinting. Such a film also has the ability to prevent the accumulation of moisture on the windows of the car. In addition, there is another solution - a remedy for fogging car windows.

The so-called anti-fogging agent for car windows is sold in containers with liquid or spray cans. The composition is applied to pre-washed, dried and degreased glass. In practice, the solution is effective, but one application lasts only 10-15 days.

If desired, do-it-yourself anti-fog can be made at home by mixing denatured or ethyl alcohol with glycerin. The proportions are 20:1, where 1 is glycerin. Then the mixture is best placed in a spray bottle for ease of application.

How to remove moisture from car windows quickly and effectively

First of all, if there is snow or ice on the windows, you must first wait until the defrosting occurs, then the windows should be cleaned. While the ice is on the glass, it will sweat from the inside even with intense warm air blowing.

To quickly clean the windshield and side windows from fogging, you first need to ask everyone to get out of the car (if there are passengers), then wait until the stove starts blowing barely warm air.

However, in winter, in frosts, you need to be careful, as a sharp temperature drop can cause the glass to crack. To prevent this from happening, after removing snow and ice, you should gradually heat the glass, increasing the temperature.

If it is relatively warm outside and it is raining, moisture is better removed from the windows with slightly warm or cold air (by the way, turning on the air conditioner with the stove often solves the problem, but the air conditioner may not turn on when low temperatures outside air).

At the same time, it is not necessary to heat the motor and the stove, since the temperature of the air blown onto the glass in this case does not have a strong effect. To prevent the rear window from sweating, its heating must be turned on immediately with the engine.

After the windows have been cleaned, you can turn on the recirculation so that the glasses do not sweat further during the trip. However, increased humidity in the passenger compartment can cause windows with recirculation turned on to fog up again. In this case, you need to try options according to the situation.

As you can see, in order to prevent the windows from sweating in the car in rain or snow, an important condition is to ensure the most efficient ventilation of the passenger compartment. In practice, sometimes instead of waiting for the stove to dry out the moisture, it is better to slightly open the windows.

To dry the rear window, you can turn on its heating. If this does not help, then you can install a small fan or interior heater that runs from a car outlet or cigarette lighter.

The cabin filter must be selected strictly for a specific model, and also changed in a timely manner. If there is confidence in the quality, it is better to give preference to more expensive carbon cabin filters than cheap counterparts from little-known manufacturers. Also, the filter itself must be installed correctly, without creases, distortions, etc.

Also, wet or damp things (umbrellas, shoes, jackets, etc.) should not be left in the car. In this case, as it dries, moisture will settle on the glass. It is also recommended to drain the water and thoroughly wipe the rubber mats, heavily soaked fabric mats should be removed from the car and dried separately.

Still, especially if the car has been in conditions of high humidity for a long time, it is necessary to dry the entire interior. This can be done by putting the car in warm garage or guarded parking for several days with ajar windows.

By the way, you can go to the car wash, at the same time performing dry cleaning of the interior in the event that moisture has appeared in the car bad smell. Specialists will first clean and then thoroughly dry the interior. The simplest solution would be to turn on the stove to the maximum, after which you need to drive the car for several hours with the windows ajar. The main thing is not to catch a cold for the driver himself, if the weather is damp and cold!

If the windows sweat while driving and the stove and / or air conditioner cannot cope with fogging, it is recommended to drive with the side windows ajar. Also, if it is hot in the cabin, and it is cold and humid outside, after a trip it is better to open all the doors for 5-10 minutes so that fresh air enters the cabin.

We also add that if the driver is transporting passengers who have consumed alcohol so that the windows do not sweat, it is optimal to ask such passengers to talk less (if possible), since the alcohol vapor they exhale causes the windows to fog up.

Finally, we note that you should not try to remove frozen ice from the glass with the help of wipers. So you can not only damage the wiper blade, but also scratch the glass itself.

To quickly remove ice from the windows, it is better to use brushes, carefully remove the ice with a scraper, or use anti-ice products for glasses. It is strictly forbidden to pour hot water on the frozen glass! In this case, the glass may immediately burst!

What is the result

As you can see, the problem of fogging car windows is relevant in different time year and applies to the vast majority of cars. At the same time, glasses sweat on different cars, both cheap and expensive. The only thing that compares favorably with others is only such models, where there are separate systems and solutions that prevent windows from fogging up.

To warm up or not to warm up the engine in the winter before the trip. Why the engine should be warmed up, how to properly warm up the engine before driving and while driving.

With the change of seasons for autumn and winter, as well as the onset of the accompanying cold weather and an increase in air humidity, all drivers are faced with such an unpleasant problem as fogging the windows in the car. Not only does this phenomenon quite strongly affect the comfort of all passengers of the car and its driver, but the view is also greatly limited, and this can be really dangerous. For these reasons, it is necessary not only to understand why the windows in the car are fogged up. What to do in such situations is no less important knowledge.

Causes of fogging glasses

So, the question of whether it is considered one of the most topical when the temperature outside the window begins to drop. There may be several reasons for such a phenomenon, and it is very important to know them, as well as to be able to resist in every possible way and be fully armed at any moment.

It is no good to constantly wipe the window with a cloth as soon as it is fogged up. First of all, it is not very effective, and secondly, this method is very difficult while driving and entails the creation of an emergency.

Human factor

We all noticed at least once that the more people there are in the car, the more the windows in the car sweat. This process is easily explained by the simplest knowledge of physics. The fact is that a person's breath, compared to the air temperature on the street and even in the car itself, is warmer. Therefore, when several people breathe inside the cabin, warm and cold air flows collide, and condensation appears on the coldest parts of the car, that is, on the windows, which is the settling of very small particles of water. This means that the more passengers in the cabin, the higher the percentage of humidity from breathing and the more the windows in the car sweat.

Temperature difference outside the window and in the cabin

Another very significant factor is the difference in air temperature outside and inside the car. Condensation also forms here, but the cause is no longer human breathing. In winter, the windows in the car fog up due to the fact that cold air flows from the street and hot air from the passenger compartment collide on the glass, as a result, the same phenomenon of moisture condensation occurs. Outwardly, it looks like foggy glass, blocking our view and causing a lot of trouble.

As many have already guessed, we are talking about people inside the car who drank alcohol. In this case, alcohols are present in the human breath, which, getting into open space, mix with oxygen molecules and react with them. Alcohol in such situations is an active absorbent and is able to actively absorb moisture, settling on all surfaces, including windows, so that in this case fogging can occur even in summer. So there is a simple answer to the question "if the windows in the car are fogged up, what to do" in such a situation. Just ventilate the interior.

Clogged air filters

In the case when your windows in the car are fogged up, you don’t know what to do, and what could cause this phenomenon is also unknown, clogged air filters in the cabin. With such a problem, the air inside does not circulate, and at the slightest resonance of temperatures inside and outside, moisture also settles on the windows. The way out of this situation is also quite simple, just send your iron horse to Maintenance, where the problem of filter clogging will be eliminated, and unpleasant fogging will go away by itself. True, the above reasons should not be forgotten anyway.

Solving the problem of fogging windows in the car

As with the causes of fogging windows, the solutions here can also be different. Some of them are not very effective, but now we will consider the most radical methods of struggle that will allow the driver and his car to feel great at any time of the year.

So, as mentioned above, the windows in the car fog up a lot in winter, and this happens for obvious reasons. So at this time of the year, one of the most effective methods of struggle is a serviceable stove, air conditioning and clean air filters. Thus, before each trip, try to turn on the air conditioner for a few minutes, which, as a rule, allows you to dry the air in the cabin a little, which prevents condensation. If the car is not equipped with air conditioning, just turn on the stove and open the air filters, the car will be ventilated and the air will become drier, which will give the desired effect. A more effective action would be to direct the air flows from the air conditioner or stove directly onto the glass, this will greatly speed up the process.

Chemical method of struggle

Another fairly effective and practical method for every driver. It involves the use of special washer fluids, popularly called them simply anti-fog.

If the windows in the car are fogged up, you will understand what to do as soon as you buy the appropriate product and read the instructions for use. However, it is still worth saying that anti-foggers differ in the method of action and are of three types:

  • Specialized liquid, which, after careful processing of the glass, forms an invisible film that prevents any moisture from settling on the glass.
  • There are also liquids and aerosols that, once applied to glass, are able to repel moisture.
  • Anti-foggers in the form of an ointment or cream are the third option for chemical treatment, after which you will not think about why the windows in the car fog up. This type of struggle is the most expensive option of the three mentioned, however, one such treatment is more than enough for 2-3 trips even in heavy autumn rain, while the first two options will have to be applied again each time.

So the most effective methods We examined the fight against fogging car windows, and each car owner received a clear answer to the question of why the windows in the car fog up, which means that you are not afraid of any bad weather now.

Probably, many motorists often encountered such a problem - the windows inside the cabin sweat, especially in heavy rain. Of course, on older cars, such as VAZ, this was generally a big problem. But such a process can occur even on a fairly fresh car! For example, they bought it a year ago, and the fogging is not removed by either the stove or the air conditioner. So what's the reason? And what to do? As usual in detail, article + video version ...

It must be said that fogging is mainly manifested either in very heavy rain (when there is a lot of moisture) or in a cold period of time (when it is warm in the car and cold outside). And it’s not always a car malfunction, but you just don’t take good care of the car.

Why do windows sweat?

Let's figure it out. There are only three main reasons for this:

  • Lots of moisture
  • Poor ventilation
  • Malfunction of the heating (air conditioning) system

I recently had such a case - a cheerful company was sitting in the car, it's cold outside now, but it's just right there. They drank alcoholic beverages, and there were 4 of them there, the stove worked and it could not cope! And they were surprised - why do the windows fog up because the car is almost new? There are several reasons - it's cold outside, there are a lot of people, they spilled beer on the rugs (that is, moisture), and alcohol, and it quickly settles on the windows.

So if, then do not be surprised. BUT this is a lyrical digression, now it will deal with serious points.

Furnace or air conditioner?

Many people mistakenly think that the interior stove will dry the glass most effectively. They turn it on to the full, but the effect (in some cases) is zero or almost zero.

But as soon as you turn on the air conditioner, the windows are instantly cleared of fogging! Why is this happening?

Everything is very simple. The stove drives hot, but moist air, it turns out, as it were, a double effect:

Firstly if it is cold outside, a greenhouse effect is created.

Secondly if the air in the cabin is humid, it does not dry out, but chases in a circle

Air conditioning, on the other hand, drives cold and dry air, in simple terms it dries the windows from moisture, which instantly affects visibility.

But there is one "BUT"! The air conditioning system can work up to -5, -7 degrees, and then it will not turn on automatically. That is, in the fall it will help you, but in the winter it won’t.

That is why on some cars there is a so-called "anti-fogging" system (it can be turned on with a separate button), and it forcibly connects the air conditioning system.

From high mileage, as well as from malfunctions (about them a little later), a certain coating may form on the glasses. From breath, from dust, etc. glasses can grow with a thin film - with a coating, of course, it may not be so visible, but if the glasses have not been rubbed for a very long time, then it looks like fogging.

RESULT one, wipe-clean the glass at least once a year before the autumn-winter period. And you need to do this with both the front and rear windows.

A LITTLE ADVICE . The plaque “sits” quite well, not every product and not every rag-napkin can remove it.

We take paper towels and ammonia (it can be diluted with water). We apply alcohol on a cloth (on any), wipe the surface, then wipe everything dry with paper towels.

If you can't stand the smell of ammonia, then you just need to buy an optics cleaner (available at any electronics store) and apply it. Then, again, remove the plaque with paper towels.

Well, now about the fight against fogging.

Lots of moisture

It happens that it is pouring rain, you constantly sit down - get out of the car, carry water with you on shoes and clothes (and humid air). As a result, your mats turn into mini pools (literally full of water), it spills onto the interior insulation (under the mat), it also gets wet. And your standard stove Or the air conditioner is not working.

This is the standard situation. You just need to get rid of this moisture in the cabin, stop in a dry parking lot, and at least just pour the water out of the floor mats. Ideally, you need to dry the interior insulation, but this requires a warm box.

Keep an eye on the interior of the car, do not let it get wet, there will be much less fogging.

Poor ventilation

Or vice versa, too good. Mostly our OLD ones suffered. There are two options here:

  • Broke, like "improved" interior . This is when, for example, they “make noise” (make additional sound insulation) of some domestic VAZ(for example, 2114, 2112, etc.) and seal at their discretion all unnecessary holes (which are applied in the body for ventilation). As a result, the car becomes like a thermos that does not breathe at all, and the excess condensate is “right there”. He simply has nowhere to go, and such craftsmen then rack their brains, what to do?
  • Deterioration of seals, the body itself . There are some from long mileage, door seals, trunk (or fifth door) wear out. Through them there is an excessive intake of cold air, or humid (sometimes even moisture can pour into the cabin). Well, it happens, the body completely rots, that is, straight through holes. And this again violates the ventilation of the body laid down by the factory.

There are two pieces of advice here - do not break and do not ineptly improve the interior (everything has already been invented for you). Well, if the seals are worn out, replace it, it's not so expensive.

Heating system malfunction

There is something interesting to say here, it won’t rattle, let’s start right away:

  • Banal reason. The stove broke down, it doesn’t work, either the engine itself was “covered” or the fuse. Need to fix. Further, we will assume that everything is in order in our electrician.
  • Glasses sweat a lot. A sweetish smell in the cabin and in the rugs is an incomprehensible liquid. Here, at 100%, you either have a stove radiator or some pipes - hoses. Moreover, they penetrate into the salon. Everything needs to be taken apart and looked at. It is worth remembering that in coolants there are, in fact, these are “simple” alcohols, they also evaporate quickly and your glasses will just VERY VERY SWEET, no stove and no air conditioner will help you. YES, and breathing vapors of ethylene glycol (which is included in the formulations) is unsafe - IT IS TOXIC. So you need to quickly eliminate the leak (by the way, this can still lead to overheating of the motor)

  • but through every night and bold. This is not the kind of raid that I described above, here, again, antifreeze or TOSOL is still flowing somewhere. BUT not so much, you can say it oozes. Run your finger over the glass, if there is a greasy coating, then disassemble the panel, see the stove - rods - nozzles
  • cabin filter . I myself recently encountered this, one might say on a new car. The bottom line is, on OPTIMA at the first MOT, they can change, or they can not change the cabin filter (by the way, this is almost for all brands). Personally, I didn’t change it, I said, leave this one - if I change something myself later (in the video version there will be instructions on how to do this). Well, and as it becomes clear, I have it clogged with all sorts of dust and other “charms”. The glasses began to sweat a little, it became especially visible at night, not much, but unpleasant! In general, we change the filter, performance is restored. And it seemed to me that the stove really began to blow harder (you can see the filter, it was completely clogged).

I already talked about the anti-fogging glass (read
