For three years, the Allied Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology worked on the recipe for a new coolant, which would have the optimal properties for the rebeling domestic automation. As a result, Tosol was obtained, the same antifreeze, but with an improved formula.

Why Tosol?

This name has received a liquid thanks to the abbreviation. Tos is the name of the Institutional Department, in which the creators of the coolant worked, and the end of OL is the designation of the chemical nomenclature of substances that shows that the liquid includes alcohol (ethylene glycol is a two-headed alcohol).

Tosol remained for a long time in the domestic market for almost the only optimal antifreeze, today the picture is completely different: many brands are available to the consumer, but even among this, Tosol variety can always be distinguished according to a characteristic blue color.

The car is a set of complex mechanisms dealt with a metal frame, but, like people, without liquids. Some cooled, others are responsible for safety.
No less important than Tosol, brake fluid has become, because it is it that affects the safe and smooth stop of the car. Quality and timely replacement directly affect the safety of the driver and passengers.

The Niva SUV, in all modifications, is very popular in Russian expanses. This is due to good maintainability, low cost and excellent permeability. To ensure reliable work, it is necessary to pass all that, in particular, to replace the coolant.

Replacing antifreeze VAZ 21214

The replacement of the coolant is the regulated procedure, which is spelled out in the instruction manual. It does not have anything difficult in it, if clearly and carefully follow the action plan described.

  • VAZ 2121.
  • VAZ 2131.

Before starting the cooling fluid replacement, so as not to get burns, you need to wait for the complete cooling of the engine. Also, antifreeze or antiflowed to the skin should be avoided, in the eyes and digestive organs, since the chemical composition of liquids is poisonous.

Drain of coolant

Prior to the start of the discharge procedure, tools should be prepared by the Tar under the exhaust antifreeze, as well as new fluids for the subsequent bay. If protection is installed under the engine, it can also be removed for convenience.

  1. turn the temperature controller in the cabin to the maximum position to the right (Fig. 1);

  2. we substitute a drain container under the radiator;
  3. we find the plug in the left corner of the radiator and unscrew (Fig.2);

  4. we dress the hose on the drain neck, the inner size of 16 mm and lower it into the drain container. This will prevent antifreeze splashing;
  5. after that, we unscrew the plug on the silent neck of the radiator, for a faster drain of the liquid (Fig. 3);

  6. we unscrew the attachment of the expansion tank and raise it up (Fig. 4). In this case, the liquid is solved through the drain hole of the radiator. And the tank itself can be completely removed and washed;

  7. to drain the coolant from the engine, you need to unscrew the drain bolt using the key to 13. The bolt itself is on the left side (Fig. 5).

After completing this operation, do not forget to put the expansion tank in place, as well as spin all drain plugs.

Flushing cooling system

In the presence of deposits and transition fluid in the liquid or transition from antifreeze to antifreeze, the system washed. To do this, you need to perform the following actions:

  1. through the expansion tank of VAZ 21214, spang the system with ordinary water. Corks must be open;
  2. tighten the drain plug and bolt;
  3. fill in the system for washing (you can use Liqui Moly Kuhlerreiniger or flushing the LAVR cooling system) with distilled water (6-7 liters);
  4. run the engine. Warm up to 90 degrees;
  5. leave to work at idle for 5-10 minutes, depending on the system contamination;
  6. mustle. Let the engine be cooled to about 60 degrees;
  7. drain the washing the same actions as the old liquid;
  8. tighten both corks;
  9. fill distilled water to rinse the cooling system;
  10. get a car and warm up to 90 degrees;
  11. mustle and let cool up to 60 degrees, drain;
  12. if necessary, repeat the paragraphs 8, 9, 10 and 11.

To fill a new fluid into the cooling system, you can use the instruction that is described in the repair book and maintenance book. But making it, air traffic jams are very often formed from motorists.

Air traffic jams can cause engine overheating, boiling it. And may also not work oven for heating in VAZ 21214, VAZ 21213 (Niva).

So, proceed to the correct fill:

  1. before the fill, we unscrew the hoses, bringing toosol to the heating node of the throttle of the throttle and raise them a little up (Fig. 1);

  2. remove the plug from the filling neck of the radiator and begin to fill the toosol until the full fill (Fig. 2);

  3. after that, we begin to drive out the air from the top nozzle of the radiator (Fig. 3). Pressing and stretching his hand towards the filler neck. When performing this procedure, air bubbles should appear in the neck;

  4. twist from a plastic bottle like a funnel and insert into one of the pipes (Fig.4);

  5. through the funnel, we begin filling, until the liquid reaches the upper edge of the flavored neck of the radiator. Tightly tighten the lid on it;
  6. after that, we continue to fill through the funnel while Tosol does not flow from the second nozzle. We put both pipes in place and clamp a clamp (Fig. 5);

  7. pour to the expansion tosol tosol a few centimeters above the MIN mark;
  8. we start the car, warming up to the operating temperature, let's work for 5 minutes, after which the wasting.

The liquid bay is finished, it remains to wipe the spilled Tosol and wait for the engine cooling. On the already cooled machine, check the level in the expansion tank and simply add.

Replacement frequency, how much and what fluid you need

On the recommendation of the manufacturer's factory, to replace antifreeze or antifreeze on VAZ-21214 cars, it is necessary to periodically once every 3 years or after a run of 60 thousand kilometers. If the car is operated in more stringent conditions, then it is desirable to replace it more often - every 30-40 thousand kilometers.

Niva cars sometimes have problems associated with the failure of some parts of the cooling system, such as a thermostat or pump. When breakdown, they change assembly, good is not expensive.   4. we shift the radiator assembly, along with the crane and nozzles towards the driver;
  5. we take out the whole design through space, between the steering wheel and pedals;
  6. all, you can change the crane itself.

After replacement, we collect in the reverse order. As you can see this operation is quite simple, moreover, Tosol will not leak into the cabin. And the procedure is only 40 minutes, even for an unprepared person.
