The answer lay on the surface: why not combine both options in one? Mercedes-Benz did just that, letting the new E63 S 4Matic + turn into a zwi-matic for a while. You no longer need to choose the type of drive, as in the last generation of "super-cars" - it is enough to agree to the top-end version of the new E63 with the letter S. There is more power and a unique two-faced ride.

In the center of the console, there is no longer the original "email" machine selector. The AMG button also disappeared, instead of which the Individual preset appeared.

Technical absence

The same name, similar power in the region of six hundred "horses", V8 biturbo, automatic with petals and Race Start function, four-wheel drive. At first glance, everything is the same, but in fact it is a completely different machine. The points.

Platform. The new E63 AMG is based on the fresh E-class of the W213 generation. This means that it has its own bodywork, an ultra-modern interior with all the innovations like a single-glass dual monitor for the front panel and touchpads on the steering wheel spokes, as well as a full set of highly intelligent electronics. Transmission... Basically, this is the same AMG Speedshift MCT unit with a wet multi-plate clutch instead of a torque converter, launch control and re-gas functions. But now this gearbox has not 7 gears, but 9 gears, as well as a completely new electronically controlled power take-off for the front axle.

Drive unit. This is the most interesting thing. All-wheel drive was in the E63 and in the previous generation, but based on a differential scheme with a constant distribution of 33 to 67. In the same machine - a multi-plate power take-off, which constantly changes the distribution of traction from 50/50 to 0/100 in favor of the rear axle. And even the implantation of all-wheel drive, according to the engineers, had no effect on the steering angle of the front wheels! We look forward to the next, less formal meeting with the car.

Fortunately, there were no wacky restrictions on the racetrack. DTM legend Berndt Schneider is up front in the AMG GT S instructor coupe, and he doesn't like being warmed up from behind. From bundle to bundle, crashing downhill and soaring uphill, the E63 S demonstrates not only dynamics, but also stability and tenacity. Despite the fact that this is not the first task of the "sixty-third yeshka", it travels along the track quickly and with pleasure. And, importantly, no health complaints: six E63 S withstood a couple of hours of continuous sessions at the circuit with dignity! The steering wheel is short and responsive, you don't remember the rolls, and the stabilization stops the traction so delicately that you won't notice it every time without a blinking pictogram on the tidy.

This super sedan is very understandable to the limit, especially if you don't be greedy with entry speed and navigate the built-in ride modes. We will leave comfort, sports and sports + for ordinary (and not so) roads. On the track, we need Race, and not just because of the name. At first, I drove in the S + and could not keep the right pace - understeer and stabilization system interfered. Switching to Race, weakening the "stub" and giving the maximum rear-wheel drive and sharpness, I stopped smearing with the inputs and "dull" at the outputs - a special calibration of everything and everything allowed me not to lag behind, but already to lead in the same group of pilots.

But no matter how great the E63 S turns, its strengths are even more convincing on the straight lines. It is only 3.4 seconds to the first hundred, and the emotions from overclocking are not dulled even after 200! Feelings from Race Start are incredible. In any mode, except for "comfort", I pressed two pedals, if desired, adjusted the speed with the petals, released the brake - and the teleport is at your service. In the previous E63, it was a ritual that would have taken a whole paragraph to describe the procedure. It is a pity that the maximum speed is limited to 300 km / h, and even then with a special AMG Driver "s package. However, the tuners will only be happy - the more contrasting will be the performance they can achieve.

The sound of the engine itself is a little far-fetched, as it is artificially amplified, but the release bubbles, albeit quietly, but basso - in the style of AMG compressor units of the recent past. V exhaust system there are 3 dampers that stepwise adjust the volume and tone depending on the selected riding program. But you can always let the E63 S clear its throat by pressing a special key - in the rare tunnel you will forget to do it! Click is a sport. Click - comfort. No need to change your driving style - the car will change it for you. Therefore, without all-wheel drive in the E63 S nowhere: it is a crime not to squeeze out the maximum dynamics, if this is the main thing in the car. And this is the whole point of the E63 S - the Mercedes managed to create a car that whispers to the owner as damn convincingly: old man, you are special, you are very fast. At the same time, the really fast guys will not get bored behind this wheel.

The "charged" E-class, according to the newly established tradition, enters the market in two versions at once. The place of the former V8 5.5 biturbo engine was taken by a more compact 4.0-liter "eight" with two two-flow turbochargers in the collapse of the block. This is the same engine that is installed on the AMG GT coupe, but if before its output did not exceed 585 hp. and 700 Nm, then for "yeshki" it is seriously forced. The initial Mercedes-AMG E 63 develops 571 hp. and 750 Nm, and the most evil version of the E 63 S produces 612 hp. and 850 Nm! In addition, a system for shutting off half the cylinders at low loads has been added: it is activated only in Comfort mode in the range from 1000 to 3250 rpm.

Both versions have an AMG Speedshift MCT gearbox, made on the basis of a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox with a planetary gear, but for the sake of rate of fire, a wet clutch is installed instead of a torque converter. However, the main news is different: the Mercedes-AMG E 63 marked the company's transition from permanent all-wheel drive with center differential to a system with a multi-plate front axle coupling!

So far, only "junior" Mercedes with a transverse engine arrangement have been equipped with such a transmission, but at the beginning of the year plug-in all-wheel drive for "large" models, and BMW has been using such a system for many years. Now Daimler has surrendered too.

The new transmission is called 4Matic + and in the case of extreme "cars" it is good because it can completely disable the front wheel drive, giving the car a 100% rear-wheel drive character. At the same time, the initial version of the E 63, in addition, has a rear "self-block", while the S version has an electronically controlled differential.

Moreover, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S has a special drift mode: in this case, the clutch is open, ESP is disabled, and the transmission is in manual mode. For those who are not ready to curb 612 "horses" on their own, an intermediate mode of operation of the Sport Handling Mode stabilization system is provided, which allows sliding within harmless limits.

What else? The body in comparison with the standard "yeshka" is expanded by 17 mm and reinforced with four additional stretch marks, and the front end has also been changed - the hood has lost its beak and now a jumper is inserted between it and the radiator grill... Wheels with a landing diameter of 19 or 20 inches, air suspension is already in the "base", and carbon-ceramic brakes are offered for an extra charge for the "Esca". Compared to the previous model, the new AMG E 63 is 30 kg heavier: the curb weight is 1,875 kg.

And yet, the acceleration time to "hundreds" was reduced by 0.2 s: base sedan does this exercise in 3.5 seconds, and the S version in 3.4 seconds! Top speed is traditionally limited to 250 km / h, but the optional AMG Driver "s Package shifts the cut-off to 300 km / h.

In general, an extra-charged sedan is a very specific product. You know, there is such a dish in the world cuisine - deep-fried ... butter. Weird? Why fry butter in oil? Then a counter question - why "fry until crispy" an already "fat" business sedan, turning it into a car, in which you can't take your children to school, and it's somehow silly to drive your friends? In addition, the price is comparable to sports coupe, but it looks, to put it mildly, not so cool. It also seems strange, at first glance ...

However, in spite of everything, the demand for charged sedans is very stable. Moreover, according to statistics, the overwhelming majority of the owners of such cars are ready to change them only for new analogues. Mercedes-AMG E63 2017 is intended not only to win the hearts of the owners of the previous "yeshka", but also to attract the attention of the owners of other fast sedans. Actually, Mercedes has a chance, because he was the first of the German troika to release new model"Charged business". Audi and BMW promise to arrive in time in the spring-summer of 2017.

But now that's it, forget it - no arguments and difficulties of choice. New AMG E63 S 4MATIC + can be AWD or RWD! Doesn't it happen? Now it happens.

Multi-plate clutch with electronic control allows you to completely "chop off" the front wheels so that the driver can still burn the rear tires and create a smoke screen when driving sideways. Let me emphasize that we are talking only about the E63 4MATIC + version with the prefix “ S ". Without this letter you will have a mechanical locking rear differential.


Before the start of the races, instructors and marketers made everyone literally salivate. I was looking forward to driving the E63 in the style of the best representatives best professions and in reality I saw how I "smoke" on the Portuguese track Algarve in slow motion, feeling like the illegitimate son of Jeremy Clarkson and Ken Block, but ... it turned out that Drift Mode and Race settings on test cars were deactivated. Overclocking

Fortunately, the organizers at least allowed me to try the “slingshot” mode, as my instructor called it. Nothing new - you press two pedals and then suddenly drop the brake. In this case, the new E63 AMG shoots like a bird Chuck from Angry Birds ... The improved RaceStart profile allows you to break the car as quickly as possible and without delay - this is how the declared 3.4 seconds to one hundred are achieved. The slowdown is no less impressive, forcing you to literally hang on the straps.

Feelings of driving on E 63 ... original. In the foreseeable past, I have testedwith an acceleration of 2.8 seconds, but it's one thing - a supercar or even a hypercar, and quite another - a full-fledged sedan weighing 2 tons. The sensations of overclocking are completely different - like if you drink three liters of beer or a bottle of vodka in three sips ... It seems that the result is the same, but the path to it is completely different. However, so is the sound.

The acceleration of the new "Yeshka" is accompanied by such an accompaniment that the Himalayan bear can inadvertently go under him when he hears it. In principle, I myself was almost embarrassed when, carried away by a set of speed, inadvertently ran into the limiter - the traditional 250 km / h (with the AMG Driver's package there will be 300 of them). But only we forgot about it and only now - the Mercedes people perfectly remembered what they were creating. How else to explain that the new Mercedes- AMG E 63 - one of the most comfortable charged sedans in history?


On 20-inch rims and tires with a "thirtieth profile", you expect gear crushing, but it is not - the suspension is very energy-intensive. True, this still does not mean that she is comfortable in the usual sense. When compared with the "civilian" E-class, even in the mildest mode, the air suspension E 63 4 MATIC + may seem "wooden". But this AMG will make you put your teeth on the shelf only twice - first when you buy, and then after shifting from corner to corner on rear wheel drive and full speed. A week before official premiere in Detroit, the first photo appeared on the network updated sedan Mercedes E63 AMG 2014 (W212), and on January 10, the German automaker officially presented another novelty, both in the sedan and station wagon bodies.

Compared to its predecessor, the interior of the novelty can be distinguished by a new instrument panel and steering wheel, as well as a redesigned center console with a clock between the ventilation deflectors. Characteristic features sports modifications are metal pedals and rich trim.

But that's not all. Now the line has a version with the S-Model prefix. This vehicle is only offered with four-wheel drive and is distinguished by the presence of a rear differential lock, as well as a forced up to 585 horses and 800 Nm engine.

The top Mercedes E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model picks up a hundred from a standstill in 3.6 seconds, but the maximum speed of all versions is the same - the electronic limiter is triggered at around 250 km / h.

Externally, you can distinguish the S-Model modification by the ten-spoke 19-inch wheel rims on tires with dimensions 255 / 35R19 at the front and 285 / 30R19 at the rear, as well as a chrome splitter and rear trim. On the regular versions, these elements are painted in the body color.

Powerful ceramic brakes with perforated discs with a diameter of 360 mm and silver calipers for the regular version, or with red calipers for the S-Model, are optionally offered for the Mercedes E63 AMG 2015.

In Russia, the price of the new Mercedes E63 AMG 2015 is 5,790,000 rubles, and its all-wheel drive modification is estimated at 6,290,000 rubles.
