For installation you will need: a jack, safety racks, a hair dryer, leather gloves, a light sledgehammer, a wooden beam with a cross-section of approximately 50 mm by 100 (120) mm and a length of half a meter.

Three wheels are mounted in the usual manner, but under the rear left one you will need to prepare a wheel arch.

We hang the car and install safety supports, since the car can come off the jack if there is a sudden mechanical load on the body element under the arch. We remove the wheel, clean the hub and arch from dirt.

At the rear of the arch, on the bumper side, there is a metal assembly that sticks out at an angle towards the wheel. The fender liner is also molded with a protrusion, as can be seen in the photo, and when installing a wide wheel profile, the tire will rub against the plastic.

It has been verified that actually jamming the protruding element will not damage the car body. Therefore, we boldly take a block and a sledgehammer and straighten this bracket with sharp, increasing blows from the side of the arch. I did not remove the fender liner. Then we press on the fender liner with our hand to make sure that the body element is jammed.

We take a hair dryer, heat it to about 500-600 degrees, and slowly warm up the protrusion of the plastic fender liner. After local heating for 2-3 minutes, we try to press the bar on the edge of the arch covering and hold it a little to fix the shape. If it doesn’t work right away, it means the plastic may not have been warmed up enough yet. The result of changing the shape of the fender liner should be as in the photo.

The ground clearance after the replacement increased by 21.5 mm, visually even more. I would like to draw your attention to the installation of bolts; I purchased them complete with alloy wheels. Yes, they are shiny and beautiful, but after installation I discovered that their length was too long specifically for my disks. The ends noticeably touched the brake drums; I had to grind them down a couple of millimeters using an emery wheel.

I would like to note that geometric dimensions tires from different manufacturers, as well as, for example, studded tires, often differ. Some Korean tires are guilty of this, so an individual approach to their selection is needed. Arches limit the size of the installed wheels, and their weight can have a detrimental effect on the durability of the suspension and directional stability.

Meanwhile, considering that if you live in the absence of roads, and, therefore, alas, there are only directions, and in fact there is no point in jumping on high speed over potholes in order to quickly destroy the car, then your option is to replace the wheels with larger size before installing spacers for suspension units. You can radically change the wheel size by purchasing only a brutal SUV...

I drove more than 11 thousand kilometers, and a third of them in the absence of normal roads, I can say with confidence that as a result of installing the wheels, the suspension did not require replacement of parts, there was no increase in fuel consumption, no decrease directional stability, but ride comfort has increased by an order of magnitude.

Where other drivers “sneak”, choosing flat sections of the road, I can drive quite confidently and without consequences for the condition of the car.
