Lada Granta is still a hit Russian market new cars. According to the Association of European Businesses, in June 2017 this model became an absolute bestseller, surpassing the Korean couple Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio. But on secondary market Granta is not the most popular car: many say that it doesn’t make sense to buy it. Later, this problem was fixed at the factory, and now it is unlikely that there will be at least one owner who has not solved it. The headlights of the model do not cause any complaints and even shine well, but tail lights may sweat - the reason is in the ventilation holes.

Over the years, AvtoVAZ carried out several service campaigns to eliminate defects that caused the fuel pipe to fray on models with a manual transmission: at services official dealers protective linings were installed. Two more Lada Granta recalls were related to the possible failure of the airbag control unit and defects brake system. But in general, the brakes are reliable: the “original” pads have to be changed approximately once every 50-60 thousand kilometers, and with them, most likely, the brake discs.

The strong point of all AvtoVAZ cars is omnivorous suspensions, which don’t even care about off-road conditions. True, this is the lot of cars with expensive trim levels; on basic versions, owners often complain about excessive rigidity. Quite often, while driving over uneven surfaces, you can hear a metallic knock - this is indicated by the racks of the Skopinsky Automotive Aggregate Plant (SAAZ). There is no point in running for new ones - this is the peculiarity of their work, but you can replace them with a more reliable analogue, and then the sound will disappear. By 30 thousand kilometers they may fail wheel bearings, on which wheel exactly - fortune will decide, while the bearings on other wheels can travel up to one hundred thousand kilometers. The remaining non-consumable suspension elements last 100 and even 200 thousand kilometers.

Be sure to pay attention to alloy wheels: if they are “native”, they can be straightened more than once, since they have a tendency to bend even when they fall into a small hole. Different powers

From the point of view of the average person, the Lada Granta has only one engine - a 1.6-liter in several power options. But from a technical point of view, these are four completely different engines(the fifth is equipped with the Lada Granta Sport, but this is a topic for another discussion). The weakest is the eight-valve 82-horsepower (132 Nm) unit VAZ-11183-50, which the model is no longer equipped with. It is easy to maintain and is equipped with a reliable timing belt drive. AvtoVAZ has started serial production of the LADA Granta

The VAZ-11186 engine is more powerful - 87 hp. and 140 Nm. It is built on the basis of the VAZ-11183-50 engine, but with lightweight connecting rod and piston group(SHPG). This made it possible to reduce noise and fuel consumption and make the engine more flexible, but, alas, you have to pay for comfort. When the timing belt breaks, in one hundred percent of cases the valves bend, which leads to expensive repairs. Among other things, you will have to replace the pistons, guides and valve stem seals. The condition of the timing belt must be monitored, and after purchasing a used car, it is better to replace it immediately.

The next two engines are 16-valve 98 hp. (145 Nm) and 106 hp. (148 Nm). Units with the indices VAZ-21126 and VAZ-21127 are structurally similar and have the same drawback as an eight-valve engine with a lightweight ShPG: if the timing belt breaks, the owner is doomed to repair. The 106-horsepower version is preferred - and not only because of the power. Lada Granta received this engine in 2013, and it was significantly modernized: instead of a mass air flow sensor in intake manifold An absolute pressure sensor was installed, which increased reliability and efficiency; the manifold itself became variable in length. Its only drawback over its less powerful brother is the increased transport tax.

By pedals

Lada Granta is equipped with three types of transmissions: mechanical, automatic and robotic. The most popular (almost 90% of all cars on the secondary market) is a five-speed manual transmission. For the first year of its life, the Grants were equipped with the time-tested VAZ-1118 transmission. This unit serves for a long time, but throughout this period it will be annoying with the characteristic Zhiguli howl while driving. In cold weather, the gearbox lever begins to “get stuck” in the thickened oil and moves hard, which can be solved by replacing the oil with a synthetic one (viscosity 75w90). Since October 15, 2012, AvtoVAZ began installing a modernized manual transmission VAZ-2181 (except for the basic “Standard” configuration). Instead of a gear drive with one rod, the box received cable drive from Japanese Atsumitec. This made it possible to get rid of unpleasant vibrations on the lever, reduce backlash and make shifting clearer. The volume of oil poured decreased by a third (it became 2.2 liters), which became synthetic: the need to replace it in regions with cold climates disappeared by itself. In addition, the oil is now filled for the entire service life of the transmission, but after five years or 200 thousand kilometers it is still better to carry out this procedure.

Just over 10% of cars on the secondary market are equipped with automatic transmissions. The rarest are robotic ones with one clutch; Lada Granta received them not so long ago - at the beginning of 2015. The “robot” is made on the basis of the above-mentioned five-speed “mechanics”, but with an electromechanical drive unit from the German company ZF. So far there are very few complaints about it, except for the peculiar operation inherent in many analogues: the box frankly “slows down” when switching.

More common is the four-speed automatic transmission Jatco (index JF414E). Overall it is very reliable and works without the need for maintenance for more than 100 thousand kilometers. IN in rare cases You can identify cars in which differential bearings whistle or oil seals leak. In the event of a major overhaul or replacement of the transmission, you must be prepared for large expenses - about 100 thousand rubles.

Safety

In the basic version, the Lada Granta of the first years did not even have an anti-lock brake system (ABS), but received at least a driver's airbag. The only crash test in Europe Euro methodology NCAP was conducted by Autoreview in 2012 at a training ground in the Czech Republic. Owners of later models began to complain less frequently about “blooming” chips on the hood, corrosion of doors under vibration insulation and rust under seals that do not fit tightly to the door edges.

Lada Granta Sport. Released since 2013, price on the secondary market from 300,000 rubles. This version is distinguished not only by a 118-horsepower engine and acceleration to hundreds in 9.5 seconds, but also by the correct wheels, as well as slightly reinforced brakes and a manual transmission.

But there are “misunderstandings” with the multimedia system and on-board computer remained. They don't want to work here correctly. The touchscreen is slow, does not immediately respond to touch, and the system refuses to read some formats. In addition, the media system is often at odds with dashboard.
