Branded parts supplied as spare parts are already reinforced in problem areas and are performing their service regularly.

Also, the sour parking brake cables can be attributed to the programmed troubles. Even light off-road terrain with shallow puddles can lead to such a breakdown. Replacing the parking brake cables will cost from 2.5 thousand rubles, and if they require replacement of the parking brake pads, be ready to shell out another 3.5 thousand.

Suspension and steering elements in the Moscow region do not wear out very quickly, but by 60 thousand km of run, it is often necessary to replace the steering tips and rubber bushings of stabilizers and stabilizer struts, all together will pull 4 thousand rubles.

However, the freewheel itself may require replacement for 70 thousand kilometers. The first symptoms of its failure are the whistling of a slipping or wet belt. Further, a tapping is added to this sound, which can be present at idle and disappear at higher speeds. This already speaks of the catastrophic wear of the overrunning clutch, and one must be prepared for the fact that the generator will soon cease to perform its functions. The clutch itself on the Rexton 2 will cost 1.5-3 thousand rubles, at the same time, for preventive purposes, the generator is recommended to be defective and, if necessary, to change its bearings.

Particular attention during the operation of the "Korean" must be paid to the lower ball bearings of the front suspension, in the design of which there is a kind of delayed-action mine. The fact is that the supports on the Rexton are breaking (in classic Lada, a similar solution has been spoiling the blood of their owners for 40 years). It is difficult to say what made it necessary to resort to such a technical solution on such a heavy machine. However, if you do not catch the signs of the imminent demise of the ball joint, then the consequences can be very dire. When the support is destroyed, the wheel together with the steering knuckle breaks, crushing the upper arm and the wing and disabling the front wheel drive. The car loses control, which can cause a serious accident, not to mention the fact that with such a breakdown, Rexton moves only on a tow truck. The first indirect signs of problems with the ball is the steering wheel play - in order to maintain the straight-line direction of movement, the position of the steering wheel can abruptly change within 5-10 degrees. In addition, a characteristic metallic creak appears when the suspension is swinging over bumps. For prevention purposes, ball joints are recommended to be changed every 30-40 thousand km or when a torn ball boot is found.

If your choice fell on the modification of AWD, then here you have to remember about the next "surprise" in which the car can stand up tightly for no apparent reason at first glance. It will start up and won't even show any errors on the diagnostic scanner. And before that there was just a slight tapping somewhere in the area of ​​the driver's right foot when switching the automatic transmission selector, then boom - the engine is running, the selector is in position D, but the car does not go. Surely, thoughts about the death of the automatic transmission and expensive repairs will immediately begin to swarm in my head. But you shouldn't grieve too much - most likely, the splines in the front-wheel drive universal joint turned, and now the whole moment goes into the broken connection. Usually this trouble comes in the range of 70-80 thousand km of run due to the lack of lubrication in the joint. Replacing the cardan will cost 8-10 thousand rubles, and it would be good if this did not happen far from home and a shop with cardan shafts. If the previous owner was handy or read the forums, then it is possible that grease has already been applied to the joint, dry from the factory, and the described problem will bypass you.

SsangYong Rexton is also popular among off-road fans (especially xdi with parttime transmission). On the Russian market, you can buy kits consisting of longer and stiffer springs and shock absorbers with increased travel, then equip a combat vehicle with 33-inch mud tires and go to conquer forests and swamps. But if somewhere in the front it began to knock with the front drive connected, you should be on your guard. There are frequent cases when, unable to withstand the increased load, the front axle support breaks. The oil pan and the front axle begin to meet each other, which results in a hole and oil leaking from the engine. Honor and praise you, if in the heat of off-road adrenaline you found it out in time, but if not, repairing an engine without oil will not be cheap. Since 2010, this support has been strengthened on Russian-assembled machines, but for severe operating conditions, the strength of a new part is still not enough and there is only one way out - a welding machine, a grinder and skillful hands.

When buying a used diesel SsangYong Rexton, it is worth remembering the high cost of repairing the fuel system. The common rail diesel engine system does not tolerate bad fuel, therefore we recommend refueling only at proven gas stations, changing the fuel filters on time. Low-quality diesel fuel can cause accelerated wear of the fuel pump, and as a result, wear products will clog the injectors. As a result, problems with starting the engine, increased fuel consumption, black smoke and a drop in power will begin.

The design of the motor is such that removing the injectors without destroying them is unrealistic, requires special equipment and is generally hardly possible outside of a service station specializing precisely in the repair of diesel engine fuel systems. All problems with removing injectors arise from the small gap between the injector and the cylinder head well, in which corrosion quickly begins to flourish. If the previous owner on the new car did not take care and did not apply special high-temperature grease to the nozzles, then after 15 thousand km of run, you can forget about the trouble-free extraction of the nozzles. The damping system is also good, I can only say that with a well-loaded trunk (about 500 kg of weight), sometimes the rear suspension pierced to the bumpers, otherwise everything is fine.

Cross-country ability is also very good.
