About the Matador tire brand

Matador is one of the most popular tire brands. Almost 90% of products are shipped to more than 80 countries. The brand entered the world market only in 1992. In 1930, Matador patented a system for joining iron and rubber components in car tires Oh.

History of Matador tires

The history of the brand began back in 1905. The first factory was created in Petržalka. At first, the plant produced rubber hoses and belts. Trial production of tires began in 1925. For the next six years, Matador remained the only tire manufacturer in Czechoslovakia. Management began collaborating with Skoda, Tatra and Aero. The tire market was growing rapidly, so the company decided to build a new plant. Construction was completed in 1948. But only on March 1, 1950, the company began producing tires. After this, the factory continued to expand its range. In 1955, the plant launched the production of conveyor belts, and in 1962 - air pipes. Radial tires did not appear until 1968. Three years later they began producing radial tires for passenger cars. The company emphasized Scientific research Therefore, in 1987, an institute was created in the city of Pukhov.

The history of the Matador company dates back to 1905. It is the first tire manufacturer in the former Czechoslovakia. In 1925, the first tires rolled off the assembly line and were installed on Škoda, Tatra and other cars. The company offers summer tires Matador, all-season and winter. The rubber is certified and complies with the following standards and regulations: ISO 9001, BS 7750, ISO 14001, QS 9000, VDA 6.1, which indicates the quality and reliability of Slovak tires.

Features of Matador tires

The Matador range of tires is presented for the following types of cars: passenger cars, off-road vehicles, light trucks. Summer, all-season and winter Matador tire options cover common sizes (13-21 inches). They have asymmetrical, non-directional and directional tread patterns.

Tires are designed using computer modeling. This allows you to create a tread with the best driving characteristics. The company has its own research center and tire production factories are located in Slovakia and Germany.

About company Matador (Matador)

Tires Matador Available in winter, summer and all-season versions. The specially targeted tread pattern resists aquaplaning and also reduces braking distances car. The Matador is intended for high-speed movement on wet and dry surfaces. Contour grooves move water away from the tire's grip on the road. Winter tires has slot-like slots in the protrusions, and the outer tread blocks have a special configuration. This provides increased traction and reliable braking even on ice. Passability in deep snow is ensured by the direction and location of the blocks on the tread.

The Matador brand first appeared in Slovakia in 1905, but tire production was fully established after 1932. After the war, with the formation of Czechoslovakia, the joint trademark BARUM was created. But at the end of the last century it became the property of the German Continental AG, and the plant in Bratislava became a joint stock company Matador. It produces tires; certificates allow it to supply products even to NATO. Over time, the company became an international corporation and created joint ventures. Here is a short list of them:

  1. CONTINENTAL-MATADOR produces truck tires;
  2. MATADOR-OMCKTIRE produces freight and passenger tires in Russia;
  3. MATADOR-ATC produces truck and passenger tires in Ethiopia;
  4. MATADOR-MESNAC research center in China.

About 80% of Matador tires are exported; in Ukraine, these tires are in high demand. Today JSC "Matador" is an international holding.

A consortium of Austrian and Hungarian banks supported the shareholders in the construction of the first plant in Bratislava. The MATADOR brand appeared on many rubber products that were produced at the new plant. In 1932, the Bratislava plant merged into a joint stock company with the Prague rubber products plant in Vysočany, headquartered in Prague.

In a short time, the MATADOR plant became the main enterprise of the joint-stock company and clearly reoriented itself to the production of tires. "Matadors" became popular throughout Europe.

1937 - opening of two company stores in Bratislava. 1938 - occupation by German troops during the 2nd World War. "MATADOR" was excluded from the branded "rubber" register for some time.

After the end of the 2nd World War in 1946, MATADOR returned to the economic structure of Czechoslovakia and a year later began to create a tire production plant in Puchov. The launch of production was negatively affected by the events of 1948, since high-performance technology from the USA remained overseas. The plant in Pukhov was included in the joint trademark BARUM - the abbreviation of the BAta-RUbena-Matador enterprises. During the period of socialist Czechoslovakia, the Puchov enterprise was named Gumarne 1.Maja, Puchov, and the tires produced there were sold under the BARUM brand.

After democratic changes in the late nineties and the division of Czechoslovakia into two independent states, as part of the privatization processes, the BARUM trademark fell into the hands of the German concern Continental AG. The Puchov plant Gumarne 1.Maja, Puchov, became a management joint-stock company after privatization and returned to the first brand “MATADOR”. The shareholders received it by purchasing the main company - a plant in Bratislava.

The goal of the transformation process was the establishment of the joint-stock company MATADOR, Puchov, in 1993, as a result, space was opened for the creation of a modern independent tire manufacturer of international scale. Consistent reorganization and restructuring of production and technological processes, vigorous introduction of new forms of management, quality, sales and expansion of the product range have led to the modern appearance of an independent consumer-oriented enterprise.

In 2005, the MATADOR brand celebrates a significant anniversary - the 100th anniversary of its formation. The name of the company was agreed upon in Bratislava at the Zeleny Strom (“Green Trees”) hotel, today the famous Carlton, by its first shareholders during the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy in September 1905. The MATADOR brand has always been associated with the rubber industry of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It became a purely Slovak brand in modern history, after the collapse of the Czechoslovak Federal Republic.

Today MATADOR is a member of the famous association of manufacturers at the international level - ERMC - European Rubber Manufacturers Conference. The joint stock company has, one after another, received many important international certificates in the production management system, environment, quality and commerce, which, among other things, give it the right to supply its products to the NATO armed forces.

Matador's success in the first years after the transformation was based on thoughtful investment of profits, strong support for science and research - through the creation of a research base in the form of its own Tire Research Institute and cooperation with international organizations and institutes - Deloitte Touche, SAP, Hewlett-Packart. By profitably separating inefficient activities, space was created for the expansion of entrepreneurship in 4 main areas: tires, machines and equipment for the tire industry, conveyor belts and automotive.

From a regional plant, the joint-stock company has turned into an internationally cooperating company, which has created joint ventures with equity participation:
- CONTINENTAL-MATADOR - producing truck tires;
- MATADOR-OMCKTIRES – producing passenger and light truck tires in the Russian Federation;
- MATADOR-ATC - producing passenger, light truck and truck tires in Ethiopia;
- MATADOR-MESNAC is a joint research center in China.

After entering the automotive sector, Matador SA acquired a controlling stake in the production companies PAL-INALFA Vráble, thereby firmly demonstrating the desire for dynamic development of the fourth main subject of its business activity.
