Engine oil BMW TwinPower Turbo.

Motor oil is one of the most important operational materials of modern high-mounted BMW engines. BMW engines traditionally impose very stringent requirements for its properties. In order to be allowed to use, the engine oil must have not only excellent lubricators, but also have special properties and perform a number of necessary functions:

  • Energy Saving

Oil should allow the engine to work using Efficient Dynamics technology: help reduce internal losses, raise fuel efficiency and provide exceptional dynamic qualities. New Specifications of BMW LL12FE motor oils and BMW LL14FE + allow new and promising BMW engine models to achieve unsurpassed fuel and economic indicators.

  • Melting

During operation in the engine, various contaminants are inevitably formed. The oil must wash off and remove them to the oil filter, not allowing the formation of deposits.

  • Anticorrosive

The oil should protect against corrosion and not be aggressive to friction surfaces and engine parts.

  • Launchers and viscosity

Oil should work equally well in the conditions of cold engine launches at extremely low temperatures and under conditions at high temperatures, as well as on increased revs.

  • Cooling and sealing

Any BMW engine is a brainchild of high innovative technologies. In the process of operation, some friction surfaces are heated to very high temperatures and oil should continuously allocate the highlighted heat. Also, the oil carries in itself the function of the combustion chamber seal, allowing you to achieve the magnificent power and fuel and economic characteristics of the engine.

  • Durability

The oil is one of the main operational materials to ensure the operation of the engine, therefore resistance to oxidation, low aging speed and low oil consumption for avgar are one of its key qualities.

The entire spectrum of these characteristics was taken into account by BMW engineers when developing new original engine oils. Created by them The newest ruler of oils absorbed all the most advanced achievements from the field of technologies for the production of motor oils. The entire ruler covers needs and takes into account the features of the operation of BMW cars in many corners of light. It also concerns countries with a harsh climate and unstable fuel quality, where high risk of failure of expensive elements of a system to reduce the level of toxicity of exhaust gases. The basis of the production of original Motor oils BMW is a GTL * technology complex that allows you to obtain crystal clear basic oils from natural gas.

Therefore, using the original engine oil BMW TwinPower Turbo, you can be in full confidence that your car's engine is under the protection of high technologies even in the most difficult modes and operating conditions.

1. Atively attend your official BMW dealer to regularly replace the original BMW TwinPower Turbo engine oil through the mileage interval prescribed by the manufacturer, or following the instructions of the on-board computer of your car;
2. Control the level of engine oil at least once every two weeks, using the measuring probe of your BMW. The electronic system of automatic control of the level and quality of the oil will inform you in a timely manner of the need for topping or replacing the oil.
3. Get the original BMW TWINPOWER Turbo engine oil only in official BMW dealerships. Only this way you can protect yourself and your car from counterfeit products and get the highest quality items.

    • Washing-dispersing properties give motor oils the ability to flush and hold in its volume contamination resulting in the engine. Due to this, the pollution, washed off by oil, is delayed by an oil filter, not allowing the formation of deposits.
    • One of the most important properties of engine oil is its viscosity. It not only defines the lubricating oil properties, but also affects energy loss when the engine is running. Optimally selected oil is capable of providing not only the maximum protection of the engine from wear, but also reduce fuel consumption.
    • An indicator characterizing the degree of change in the viscosity of the engine oil depending on the temperature is the viscosity index. All original BMW TwinPower Turbo oils have a high viscosity index, which allows them to maintain excellent lubricating properties at high temperatures and in severe engine operating conditions, as well as to ensure the ease of launch even at very low temperatures.
    • In the process of production, in the base oil, manufactured using GTL * technology, a package of additives is introduced, which further determines its anti-wear, viscous temperature, antioxidant, anti-corrosive and washing-dispersing qualities.
    • Engine oil performs a very important function - is the engine combustion chamber seal. Having a certain set of properties and qualities, oil in the process seals the volume of the combustion chamber and ensures the implementation of its power, dynamic and fuel and economic indicators.
    • To meet high BMW quality standards, new original engine oils BMW TwinPower Turbo and BMW's original oil filters pass a series of complex laboratory tests, and are also subject to permanent quality control.
  • Advantages in innovation
    • The use of original Motor oils BMW TwinPower Turbo allows you to achieve maximum engine protection from wear in various modes and operating conditions.
    • Optimally selected viscosity characteristics provide ease of engine starting under conditions of low temperatures.

    Efficiency and environmental friendliness

    • Promote a decrease in fuel consumption and, accordingly, a decrease in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
    • Compatible with the components of the neutralization systems of exhaust gases and does not have a negative impact on them.

    Preservation of value

    • Extremely compliance with specifications ensures reliable engine operation for a long period.
    • Increased oil life and its stability allows you to increase the intervals of its replacement.

  • In this article we will select the optimal BMW car oil with a mileage from 250 thousand km. We find out what you need to upload a good quality product in this car.

Which oil recommends Liqui Moly for BMW with a big mileage?

BMW creates one of the most durable and reliable cars, which for many decades is the most popular. For this reason, the owner should know which oil to pour into the engine.

Take for example BMW with a mileage of 250,000 km.

For such a car, special oil is needed, which meets all the requirements of the BMW concern. Properly selected oil enriches and update your engine. The oil change must be carried out on time, the correct engine oil should be used.

Be sure to use the car before buying oil, and you will never be mistaken in choosing the right product for your car engine.

You probably heard that oils from popular brands allegedly marketing tricks. One who believes it is unlikely to know how important it is to use the right oil. In BMW engines, which are complex independent systems, the use of synthetic oil provides trouble-free operation, and significantly reduces the friction of engine parts, especially in the cold.

Let's look at what oil is universally suitable for cars with a large mileage.

Why is Liqui Moly for my BMW?

    1. all products are produced only in Germany.
    2. high quality.
    3. the best brand in Europe is already the 5th year in a row.
    4. Best mineral base for oils.

The manufacturer did not spend a single euro for marketing, all means were embedded solely on the oil. Some oil manufacturers use certain additives (additives), so Liqui Moly satisfies many BMW requirements. It is very important to check such an indicator as viscosity, and make sure that it is suitable.

Some believe that completely synthetic oil is not better than standard, they are sure that it is just a marketing stroke. Reality is such that synthetic oils work work as efficiently as possible, even in extreme conditions, which makes it possible to improve fuel efficiency. This is especially noticeable at temperatures below zero, when the engine, in very rare cases, can not be able to start.

Synthetic oil has a feature: working in the cold begins more efficiently than under normal conditions. Engine oil is the most important aspect of maintaining a car in good condition. Replacing the oil on time and using the right oil can add many years and hundreds of thousands of kilometers to your car. BMW recommends Liquimoly "Full Synthetic" for its cars and, apparently, listen to them.

Very often there are questions which oil pour into the BMW engine. What pouring and how to pour. On the forums of the branch with the choice of oil, they are latter, there are huge disputes that it is necessary to pour, but it is not necessary. Here I would like to express my dealethene view about this.

Fracking the E34.SU forum, allocated several oils and the theory that we need to pour, and what is not.

So, pouring into the BMW engines you need a complete synthetic oil, with a viscosity index is better than 40-50.

The viscosity index 60 for old engines can be destroyed. Since the engines have a large number of Nagara, and the oil is very thick - in the end all channels of the "circulation" of oil are clogged. But at the same time, the number of noise from the engine can decrease with this oil and it may stop it through Chur.

The viscosity index 30 will be too liquid and the engine may very much will "eat" oil. Usually oils with this index - semi-synthetic.

You need to change the oil every 7-10t.km.

Wash the engine with special means - not recommended. Because The engine is old, then this tool can kill it. At the same time, good oil has means for cleaning the engine. And it will be better to change it more often than to wash. A slight mixing of oil (for example, when replacing the engine in the engine during plum, oil remains) of different manufacturers and different types - permissible.

Oil must comply with BMW Longlife-01 certification

So, now manufacturers of oils that I allocated:
    Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40
    Mobil 1 PEAK LIFE 5W-50
    Castrol Edge SAE 0W-40
    Castrol SLX Professional Longtec 0W-40
    LIQUI MOLY MOLYGEN 5W-50

But in Russia, the production of oil under Castrol differs with the oil, which is produced in Germany. Therefore, if you want to pour Castrol, then it is better to leut the original BMW oil, it costs not such space money.

All these oils are good to some extent if you buy them in proven places, official dealers. And not in the transition for 100 rubles.

There is shell, Total, Elf, Aral, BP, Agip, Addinol.

In fact, the choice of oil is an individual occupation, you can pour the mineral water tzovsky, and think that you have a BMW. And then everyone says that BMW dear in the service staff car, due to the fact that you had to capitalize the engine.

What do you need to know when choosing an oil for BMW engines? What oil is suitable for a particular engine? It is these two questions most of all worry the owners of the BMW who have not defined with the choice of oil while approaching its planned replacement. First of all, it should be remembered that motor oils for BMW are divided into certified (admitted) and special (Special Oil). Moreover, according to the Specifications of the automaker, for gasoline modifications BMW 1,3,4,5,6,7 series is allowed to use only those engine oils that have passed special tests and received official approval of BMW. For diesel versions of the same models, universal engine oils are allowed, subject to compliance with the documentation requirements for each car model (using ACEA classification). Motor oil approved BMW on the packaging should be specified the corresponding tolerance. Its absence indicates the lack of certification of BMW, respectively its application is not recommended.

Oils, certified BMW got a name Longlife.. These oils meet the standards of the ACEA: A3 / B3 specification and have been tested in BMW to the ability to provide an enlarged maintenance interval (OilService). Application of these oils is allowed both in summer and in winter.

Since 2001, BMW began to produce engines of a new generation, which resulted in tightening the requirements for oil properties. As a result, oils with a long service life were divided into four categories:

& NBSP & NBSP & NBSP1. Longlife-01. - oils that meet the complete list of BMW requirements for technical fluids and recommended for use in the N62 / N42 engines. In addition, these oils are recommended for use in the old BMW engines (produced until February 2000), except S62 (E39), CNG, M43.

& NBSP & NBSP & NBSP2. Longlife-01 Fe (Fuel Economy) - oils with the same standards as LongLife-01, but with a lower viscosity, thereby achieving a decrease in fuel consumption. The use of these oils is allowed only in those engines, the design features of which allow the use of low viscosity oil.

& NBSP & NBSP & NBSP3. Longlife-98. (The initial name is Longlife) - oils that meet the standards with an increased maintenance interval (Oilservice) introduced in 1998. The use of these oils is recommended for BMW with engines equipped with forced ignition (except S54, N42, as well as S62 (E39) produced until February 2000).

& NBSP & NBSP & NBSP4. Longlife-04. - This tolerance was introduced for motor oils that have passed a hollow test cycle in BMW. Oils with this tolerance can be used in modern BMW motors and is not recommended for cars released until 2004.

Category special Oil (Special Oil) As well as certified complies with the standards of the ACEA Specification: A3 / B3 and is an earlier version of the BMW Longlife Categories. The use of special oils is recommended for old BMW models with a replacement interval up to 15,000 kilometers (according to the OilService Regulations). Special oils are all-season. The exceptions are the oils with the SAE 10W-X viscosity class - its use is allowed under the ambient temperature not lower than 20 ° C.

It should be remembered that only motor oils are recommended for the BMW engines that meet the above recommendations. The presence in the title of oils of such formulations as "fully synthetic (lung-person) engine oil", etc., are not evidence of the possibility of their use in BMW engines and can only be considered as a common name. The decisive factor in determining the combustion of oil can only be an indication of the admission from BMW.

In conclusion, a few words about oils for new cars and engines after major repairs. And if one is unlikely to produce an independent oil replacement outside the official service in new cars, then for the owners of BMW with engines after the "Capitals" it will not prevent that the so-called "trigger" oils do not apply in BMW motors. Therefore, when replacing the oil in engines after major repairs (as well as for new engines), the use of only the above certified oils is recommended.

Each manufacturer, whether Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen or Others, defines for its car tolerances for lubricants that are best suitable for its engines. For example, the original BMW engine oil, which since 2015 produces Shell, is intended for the machines of this manufacturer. It fully complies with its quality and characteristics requirements.

    What is tolerance

In order for the oil to get tolerances for use in cars of a particular manufacturer, it is necessary to have characteristics and qualitative indicators that will be optimal for power units of machines. These indicators are determined by the quality of the base base of oil composition, as well as additives used to improve its main properties.

Due to the fact that the competition of well-known manufacturers in the global market is very high, everyone tries to get tolerances for their oil to popular models manufactured cars. This is a kind of quality certificate for lubricants. But the procedure for obtaining such admission is long and painstaking. It is required to pass all sorts of tests - both in laboratories and in real road conditions.

But when such a certificate is obtained and concrete car brands to which there are oil tolerances, will turn on its label - it will be the best product quality indicator. In this case, in addition to advertising the quality of its products, the manufacturer gets an increase in sales. To label marking, trying to avoid fakes, the word "original" (original) often add. But such a decision, unfortunately, does not stop fraudsters. To distinguish fake oil from the original sometimes it is simply impossible - the same label, and the color of the liquid is similar. But, a couple of times the bay into the engine is such "lubricant", you can kill it. For this reason, lubricants are best to buy from proven providers who have a good reputation.

The standards of qualitative indicators will also be related to the tolerances, which are displayed on the label: SAE, which determines the parameters for temperature and viscosity, the American API, European Acea and American-Japanese ISLAC. The adoption and use of these standards is due to a large variety of DVS structures, each of which will work well only with certain lubricants.

    SAE

The original oil for auto brand BMW is classified on the temperature limits of use and viscosity. The word "viscosity" does not mean that the lubricating composition itself is more liquid or viscous. This term means that the film created by the engine fluid is designed for certain gaps between the parts of the engine. Each power unit from different manufacturers, these gaps have their magnitude. Therefore, lubricants also have different tolerances for kinematic viscosity. It is determined at temperatures of 100 and 150 ° C.

SAE is the standard of the American Society of Automotive Engineers. The first digit in it, for example 0W40, means that such characteristics, as the rotationality of the motor and its pumpability on the system, will remain unchanged to the minimum temperature of -35 ° C. This is the so-called low-temperature viscosity. Letter W (Winter) means that it is winter oil. In summer lubricating compositions, the first digit and letter W, according to the standard, is absent. For example, SAE 20, 30, 40, etc. The second digit is an index of kinematic viscosity at high temperatures (+ 100 ° C). As a rule, winter motor lubricants are suitable for Russian operating conditions.

The more digit - the more durable and thick layer of the film is formed. Some specialists per service station claim that it is better to pour motor fluids W50 and W60. It is not so - more viscous lubricating compositions increase the friction in the piston group and in the other details. Such a lubricating makeup is heavier pumped through the system, with small gaps can cause oil "starvation", because the film simply will not be able to fit into the gap between the details. Therefore, the best option is to use motor lubrication with such SAE, which is provided in the technical documentation for the car. The original lubricating compositions recommended by BMW for their cars are assigned such categories of SAE: 5W30, 5W40, 0W30, 0W40, as well as 10W-60.

    API.

Together with SAE, this is the most common standard that defines high-quality characteristics. Its notation, according to API, has every original engine oil for BMW cars. The API was developed by the Institute of Oil in the United States, it is most demanding about quality indicators of lubricants. Letter notation begin with S (for gasoline power units) or with (for diesel engines).

The letter designations of those or other quality of lubricating compositions correspond to the engines produced from a certain time. For example, SC-SG oil groups are designed for motors manufactured from 1964 to 1993. They have not been issued for a long time. Today, four groups of oils are most common for gasoline engines.

    1. SJ - this category began to operate at the end of 1995 and was intended for engines issued since 1996. Energy saving can be certified as SJ / EC.
    2. SL - lubricating compounds are intended for car models released since 2001. Currently used, characterizing good stability, reduced volatility and reduced toxicity of exhaust. Replacement can be made with an elongated interval, only not in Russia.
    3. SM are currently popular oils, the original BMW of this category is designed for modern engines manufactured since 2004. This lubricant can be used for turbocharged and multiclapped engines. Motor liquids category SM, compared to SL, have increased resistance to oxidative processes, are better protected from high-temperature sediments, they have better wear resistance, as well as increased stability and long-term operational period.
    4. SN is the newest category, introduced in 2010. The highest requirements apply to the oil compositions. Today it is the best lubricating fluids for modern motors manufactured since 2010. All qualities inherent in Lubricants category SM are even more pronounced in these motor fluids. In addition, the content of phosphorus is limited. Also recommended for use in multiclap and turbocharged motors. Well retains their qualities at very high temperatures.

    1. CH-4 - this category is intended for motors manufactured since 1998. A low level of toxicity of exhaust gases is ensured, and diesel fuel with a high sulfur content is also allowed - up to 0.5%. It is a replacement of oils of earlier categories - CD, CE, CF-4 and CG-4.
    2. CI-4 - the standard is put into operation in 2002. It has the same qualitative indicators as CH-4, plus more hard requirements for the toxicity of emissions, the formation of soot, sediments and viscous indicators. In 2004, adopted an additional category - CI-4 Plus with even more rigid oil requirements.
    3. CJ-4 is the most modern class, adopted at the end of 2006. CJ-4 oil compositions are used in large loads in motors, they are suitable for diesel engines issued since 2007. In the oils of this category, the level of ash content, its indicator is less than 1%. The level of phosphorus content is reduced to 0.12%, as well as sulfur to 0.4%. Oil compositions can be applied instead of earlier classes - CI-4 Plus and CI-4, complying with higher environmental requirements.

In the API there is another variety of oils - energy-saving. She was assigned the EU class. Recently, universal engine fluids are becoming increasingly popular. They can be poured both in gasoline and in diesel engines. A large number of additives, as well as a wide range of temperature stability allow it to do. They are denoted, for example, like this: API SM / CI-4. In the first place - a class for gasoline engines. This means that the lubricant is more optimized for gasoline, but it can be poured into a diesel engine where the CI-4 lubricant category is used.

    ASEA

The standard of the European Association of Car Manufacturers presents more hard requirements for engine oils, compared with the API. The combination of letters "A / B" in the classification suggests that the engine fluid can be used both for gasoline and diesel engines. For each letter there is a digit. What it is more, the better the qualitative lubricant performance. For example: Original TWINPOWER TURBO LONGLIFE 01, manufactured for BMW cars, has an ASA ASA / B4 classification, intended for motors with direct injection.

Modern motor lubricants for turbocharged high-loading motors have high protective indicators and minimal viscosity to improve environmental indicators for emissions and minimize friction. This is the highest category of oils in ASEA (A5 / B5). Such formulations in their characteristics are better than, for example, modern API SM / CI-4. There is also an alphabetic designation: C - for oils that meet environmental requirements for EURO-4 exhaust gases compatible with the particulate filters and catalytic neutralizers. This class refers to all motors - diesel and gasoline.

It should be noted that the lubricating formulations of the A5 / B5 can be used not for all engines. It is better to use the category recommended by the manufacturer.

    Islac

The brainchild of the International Committee for Standardization and Approbation of Motor Oils is a joint project of American and Japanese specialists. His distinguishing feature is that the entire classification corresponds to the API defined. For example, ISLAC GL-2 is similar to API SJ, ISLAC GL-3 is an analogue of the SL API. To date, the best category of oils - ISLAC SN / GF-5, adopted in late 2010. It is intended for motors released after 2004.

    Modern lubricating formulations for BMW

All modern engines are very sensitive to the qualitative properties of the base and additives that are part of the engine fluid. Therefore, an error when choosing a lubricating composition can lead to motion death.

For BMW, it is best to use the original engine oil today by Shell. Applied both allowed lubricants and special engine fluids (Special Oil). For the BMW car of all episodes, ranging from 1 and ending 7, only lubricants have been used, which have passed comprehensive tests and approved by the German manufacturer's specialists. Such oil should have the appropriate tolerance on the package. Otherwise, its use is not recommended. For diesel engines, universal lubricating compounds can be operated under their compliance according to the ASE standard. The original lubricant recommended by the BMW to use has received the name of the series - LongLife, which is translated as a "long life" (engine).

The scope of application of so-called special oils is old models of BMW machines. As a rule, these lubricants are all-season, they were still applied before the introduction of the Longlife series. Motor fluids manufactured by BMW in Germany have names:

    Alternative engine fluids

In addition to the above, car owners BMW Motul lubricating compounds are very respectful - in particular, its 300V series and 8100 X-CESS. They have tolerances for use in BMW. For M50, M52 and M54 motors, Motul 300 V Chrono 10W40 is good. For "sports" engines you can use Motul 300 V Power 5W40 with a high content of molybdenum used to modify friction. But all this - provided that the oil will be original, and not "Palin", which can now be found on sale.

BMW service centers specialists believe that one of the most successful oils - Xenum WRX or XENUM VX. The advantage is that it is almost impossible to fake. In addition, it contains the most modern friction modifier - a hexagonal boron nitride, as well as resistant to the effects of high-temperature modes.

Lubricating fluids from Bardahl are very popular today - in particular, its XTC C60 brand. Here the friction modifier is based on the carbon "C60". The series is manufactured with a large range of viscosity, there is a good set of additives.

We listed only a small part of the entire diversity of engine oil produced today. But the last word, as always, remains for car enthusiasts.
