Design

The appearance of the updated CX-9 is Mazda-style modern - catchy and at the same time surprisingly laconic. It is simply impossible not to notice such a car in the turbulent city traffic. The powerful grille of the novelty is framed by elegant LED optics with tiny LED DRL beads. The front part of the body also pleases the eye with its daring outlines and edges, and the "stern" stands out due to the slanting lights, which look quite harmonious. The profile of the model turned out to be predatory and dynamic - quite in the spirit of Mazda. Nothing to say, the Japanese tried their best this time too.


In the exterior, chrome is used in absolutely appropriate quantities (it is also present in the interior) - with the help of it, the brand's designers managed to beautifully emphasize the door sills and the contours of the glass. For finishing the wheel arches, the appropriate matte plastic is again used - this solution is usually typical for inexpensive utilitarian SUVs, but in this case it can be called 100% successful, and many will like it due to its practicality. All lighting technology of the second CX-9 is based on LED technology. In urban environments, it is ideal - at mid-range, dense white light is in no way inferior to the illumination provided by xenon optics.

Design

The revamped Mazda Nine is designed around the same platform that powers the latest CX-5 - almost the best crossover cart on the market today. The scheme of its suspensions is as follows: an independent suspension is installed on the McPherson struts in front, and a multi-link at the rear. The drive is full by default, with a multi-disc clutch in the rear wheel drive (like the CX-5), and the brakes are disc (front - ventilated). The wheelbase, unlike the CX-5, is increased by 23 cm, and the overall length by as much as 525 mm. For the sake of "nines", the settings of the springs and shock absorbers have been changed (in the rear, the upper attachment points have also changed - due to the introduction of a 7-seat body), as well as the characteristics of the silent blocks. From the "five" inherited pleasant little things - for example, there are additional dampers in the front suspension and a lightweight front stabilizer.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

All-wheel drive, excellent crossover suspension, 220mm ground clearance, trunk volume from 230 to 1,641 liters. Comfort

Metallized plastic is widely used to decorate the interior of the new CX-9. The metal looks nice and neat, without kitsch. The transition from the inner door lining to the complex profile of the ventilation deflector frame in the corner of the front panel is stylishly made. The dashboard is a classic switch. On the right side of the "tidy" there is a miniature LCD screen for various associated indications. The climate control control unit is rather narrow and small, "prescribed" behind the gearshift knob in the recess. With the hint that the best solution is automatic mode ... There are not so many storage compartments in the cabin. Door pockets, a modest glove compartment, a pair of cup holders, a spectacle case and a two-piece armrest box - that's it. Skoda is far from practicality, but overall it's not bad.


The seats of the second CX-9 are designed for people of any size. The profile of the seats is well chosen, and the wide range of adjustments makes it easy to adjust the seat “for yourself”. There is ample head and legroom in the 1st row, but the most spacious on the back sofa. Passengers of medium size will be able to sit in the back even if the seats of the 1st row are fully extended back. And if they are not fully extended, then riders of any height will be at ease behind. For the convenience of rear passengers, there are 2 USB ports, separate climate control, armrest and cup holders, compartment for a smartphone and 3-stage heating. It is quite possible to get to the 3rd row without difficulty. The chairs there are decent - in terms of comfort, they are almost as good as the one in front of the sofa. Of the amenities here, we can only note the armrests with stamping for glasses or bottles and a pair of speakers of the audio system. The trunk of the crossover is equipped with an electric opening mechanism. In the underground compartment lives a dock, inside which there is a subwoofer. Ultimately, the turbo engine produces 231 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 420 Nm of torque, which is reached from 2000 rpm.

By default, it is aggregated with a 6-speed "automatic" and an intelligent all-wheel drive system i-ACTIV AWD with a multi-plate clutch, which is electronically controlled.

The "maximum speed" of the car rests at 208 km / h, and the acceleration from zero to the first "hundred" fits into 8.6 seconds.

In the combined driving mode, the five-door "digests" from 9.6 to 10 liters of gasoline for every 100 kilometers.

It is worth noting that in other countries, the five-door is also offered in front-wheel drive, and the power of its 2.5-liter engine reaches 254 hp.

The SUV is based on an extended version of the Mazda 6 platform with extensive use of high-strength steels in the body structure and independent suspension on both axles - MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link architecture at the rear.

One can ask a reasonable question why the same Skyactiv-G 2.5T produces 250 horses in the USA. But even this is enough to accelerate a two-ton colossus to a hundred in 8.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is 210 km / h.

As a transmission, a non-alternative hydromechanical 6-band gearbox is installed. The automatic transmission allows you to switch modes of operation providing either a comfortable and unhurried movement, or hurricane dynamics in Sport mode. All-wheel drive is provided by the i-Activ AWD system with a multi-plate clutch in the rear wheel drive. That is, the basic drive is front, and the rear wheels are connected if necessary.
