What was not produced by laurin klement. Laurin and Klement - Skoda Octavia in the TOP configuration

03.10.2020

At the end of the 19th century, a historical acquaintance between the mechanic Václav Loren and specialist manager Václav Klement took place. The namesakes were going to create a bicycle manufacturing business in the suburbs of Prague, in the small town of Mladá Boleslav. Gradually, the production of bicycles changed to a more advanced version, businessmen patented the Laurin & Klement motorcycle and repeatedly took part in races. Motorcycles were replaced by car production and in 1905 the first Czech car with the Laurin & Klement brand was introduced. Skoda Octavia, one of the luxury modifications of the first Octavia generations is named Laurin & Klement

Skoda Octavia: elegance and comfort

In Russia, Skoda presents Octavia in a luxury configuration, named after the founders of Laurin & Klement. The car is distinguished by exquisite comfort and elegance, emphasizing the magnificent and classic style and corresponds to the European Eleganse equipment. In addition, Laurin & Klement has an extended version of the options: leather interior combined with fine wood trim, power front seats, power folding mirrors that allow you to change the viewing angle, electric heating rear seats and many other equally useful "bells and whistles". On the appearance immediately positions itself as a business class car: roof rails, xenon and fog lights with Corner and MDI functions. In a word, OctaviaLaurin & Klement is for serious and wealthy car enthusiasts who know how to appreciate refined elegance and emphasize their individuality.

Power part

The front-wheel drive car Skoda Octavia in the Laurin & Klement configuration is equipped with gasoline engine volumes of 1.8 liters and a capacity of 180 l / s. There is also an option with diesel engine volume of 2.0 liters with a capacity of up to 184 l / s. The transmission is also available in two options: six-speed mechanical box gears and an automated DSG system. It accelerates to 100 km in 8.3 seconds, fuel consumption per 100 km ranges from 4.9 liters when driving on a country road to 9.6 liters when driving in the city. Max speed reaches 200 km/h.

The top equipment of the Skoda Octavia is the Laurin & Klement version. There are not many such assemblies of this Czech car, but they are quite popular. At one time, the entire company bore this name, since its founders were two Vaclavs with the names Laurin and Klement. Well, now this is a kind of designation for “tuning” the standard model by the manufacturer. This spring, at the Geneva Motor Show, an updated 2014 version of the Czech in the Combi body was presented.

Appearance

Skoda Octavia in the Laurin & Klement configuration is practically no different from the "stock" one. The two main accessories that will prove this car to be that build are the badges on the front fenders and the large 18-inch alloy wheels in original Hawk design.

In addition to this addition, the Skoda Octavia Combi presented in Geneva in 2014 in this most expensive Laurin & Klement configuration is equipped with modern bi-xenon headlights that incorporate LED daytime running lights, which are distinguished by good intensity and long service life. Fog lights are equipped with the Corner function, which makes it possible to use them as turn indicators. The rear lights also have LED elements that are perfectly visible both at night and during the day.

Geneva Skoda Octavia Combi 2014 in the Laurin & Clement version is also equipped with a sunroof and roof rails, and also has all-wheel drive.

Salon

If there are no special changes with the appearance, then the interior is a completely different matter. This is the main thing that changes in the configuration of Laurin & Klement on Czech cars, including the Skoda Octavia. When you open any car door, the “wealth” of the interior finish immediately catches your eye.

Modification of the Skoda Octavia in the Combi body released in 2014 has an upholstery made of expensive leather Brown, which looks great and is combined with wooden inserts. Seats are endowed with automatic adjustment. Multifunctional four-spoke steering wheel, gear lever handle and cuffs near it, handle parking brake- all this is also covered with the same skin.

The front panel is made of high quality plastic. Equipped with Skoda Octavia Laurin & Clement 2014 version with the latest technology adding comfort and safety for passengers and driver. On-board computer, Columbus system, separate climate control, heated front and rear seats.

Engines and gearboxes

Well, as expected, only the most powerful engines were selected for the Laurin & Klement package of the Czech Skoda Octavia. There are three of them, one petrol and two diesels. The first TSI modification has a volume of 1.8 liters and produces 180 "trotters". Both solar-eating are turbocharged, with a volume of 2.0 liters, but different in power, these are 150 and 184 horses. To all in a couple, it will be possible to order both mechanics and a DSG robot, both of which are six steps. With such units, this "swallow" will shoot like a bullet, having excellent dynamics and a high maximum speed. In addition, the car, both in the Combi body and in the Liftback body, can be ordered with front-wheel drive and 4x4 all-wheel drive.

Outcome

So, once again we emphasize what the Laurin & Klement equipment has on Czech cars, in particular on Octavia:

  • all heated seats, both front and rear;
  • four-spoke multifunction steering wheel with phone control and built-in audio system;
  • bi-xenon headlights with dynamic tilt adjustment;
  • headlight washers;
  • parktronic;
  • dual-zone climate control;
  • automatic seat adjustment.

As you can see, these changes and additions significantly raise the comfort of the car. Yes, if instead of the standard suspension another one was installed, for example, softer, then the Czech would not be recognized at all. But this is quite enough, so that the price tag for such an Octavia in Europe starts at 30,400 euros (this is in a liftback body), and the station wagon starts at 31,050 euros.

At the crossover Skoda Kodiaq there is already a “sports” version and an “off-road” version, both of which have recently been available in Russia. And at the Geneva Motor Show, the most luxurious version will premiere under the brand's traditional name Laurin & Klement - in honor of Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement, the founders of car factory in Mlada Boleslav, which later became Skoda.

The new version features an extra portion of chrome on the grille, standard LED headlights, 19-inch wheels, a redesigned rear bumper and additional trim nameplates. But the main changes are still in the cabin: this is upholstery in expensive leather, two-tone trim, electric front seats, as well as rich standard equipment, which is offered for a surcharge for other versions. In addition, Kodiaq Laurin & Klement is the first in the family to get a virtual instrument cluster.

But that is not all. Along with the advent of the expensive version of Kodiaq has experienced a small technical update. In the European motor range a 1.5 TSI petrol turbo engine (150 hp) appeared, which will replace the 1.4 TSI engine of the same power. And the output of the 2.0 TSI engine has been increased from 180 to 190 "horses", although China has long had it. In addition, there was a new version seven-speed "robot" DSG, which is installed on cars with gasoline engines 2.0 TSI and a 150-horsepower 2.0 TDI diesel.

We will find out how all these changes will affect the cars for Russia after the launch of local production in Nizhny Novgorod: crossovers Russian assembly should appear in the spring. But the complex and expensive 1.5 TSI engine will almost certainly not get us.

Skoda announced the start of sales crossover Kodiaq performed by Laurin & Klement in Russia. Skoda Kodiaq Laurin & Klement: photos, differences and price of the top version of the crossover.
