Until what time will the buses run on December 31st? How will transport work on holidays?

The metro, MCC and ground urban transport will operate on New Year's Eve in the capital without interruption. This mode of operation will allow millions of Muscovites to meet New Year at the main city venues and participate in all events prepared by the city authorities.

By ground transport it will be easy to get to the fireworks launch sites, parks where folk festivals will take place, and other places popular with Muscovites and guests of the capital.

How will the metro and MCC work?

For the first time, the Moscow metro will operate throughout New Year's Eve. From 00:30 to 05:30 in the morning, metro trains will run at intervals of up to 10 minutes. Electric trains will run along the Moscow Central Circle all night at intervals of up to 12 minutes.

“On New Year’s Eve from 01:00 to 05:30, Moscow metro trains will run at intervals of up to 10 minutes, MCC trains - up to 12 minutes. And already on January 1, from 05:30 am, the metro will begin to operate as usual, that is, the movement interval will not exceed 2.5 minutes. Lastochka trains will run at intervals of 6 minutes,” said Head of the Moscow Department of Transport Maxim Liksutov.

How will public transport work?

Throughout New Year's Eve, night and most popular routes of ground urban transport will also operate. Passengers will be transported to metro and MCC stations by 1,500 buses, trolleybuses and trams, which will run along 153 of the most popular routes in the city.

How will the trains work?

On New Year's Eve, the operating time of electric trains will be extended until 03:00. From January 1 to January 7, commuter trains will operate on a Saturday schedule. Aeroexpress trains will operate as normal.

How much will parking cost?

Parking in Moscow will be free during the New Year holidays. From January 1 to January 8 inclusive, the capital’s authorities announced the so-called “parking holidays.” On Saturday, December 31st, parking fees will apply as normal.

Which streets in Moscow will be blocked on New Year's Eve?

Some streets of the capital will be closed due to mass events on New Year's Eve. Temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced mainly in the city center. In particular, because of the mayor's Christmas tree, on December 31, from 9.00 to 16:00, traffic will be limited on Ilyinka Street, and on the night of January 1, due to fireworks, from 23:50 to 00:10 - on Moskvoretskaya Street, Vologodsky Proezd, and Kadyrov Streets and Fedosino.

All city public transport in the capital will operate throughout New Year's Eve. This was reported by the press service of the mayor and government of Moscow following a meeting of the presidium of the city government.

From December 31 to January 1, the Moscow metro, MCC, as well as all night and most popular routes of ground urban transport will operate in Moscow. In total, 172 routes will operate on the line, including 60 routes around the clock, 99 routes until 03:30, and 13 night routes. Metro and MCC trains will run at intervals from 3.5 to 15 minutes. The bus interval will be 25-30 minutes.

On Christmas night - from January 6 to 7 - the operating hours of the metro and MCC will be extended until 2:00 a.m., and the above-ground city passenger transport- until 3:00 a.m. plus 13 night routes.

In addition, the operating hours of commuter trains on New Year's and Christmas nights will be extended to 2:00 am.

In the capital, there is a special work schedule for Moscow city services during the New Year holidays 2018. First of all, the metro and the MCC are being transferred to an enhanced regime.

On the night of December 31 to January 1, the subway again operates around the clock. The train interval will be as follows:

From 5.30 am to 0.30 am, that is, during the usual metro operating hours - 3.5 minutes, during rush hour - up to 90 seconds on certain lines;

From 0.30 to 5.30, that is, at night - up to 10 - 15 minutes.

On the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), trains will run at intervals of 10 minutes.

As for city services on New Year's holidays on ground public transport, most buses, trolleybuses, trams and blue minibuses will carry Muscovites until 3.30 am. The movement interval is on average 25 - 30 minutes. Please note: on New Year's Eve, from December 31 to January 1, several trains will depart later than usual so that guests of the capital can leave after the festive fireworks. For example, additional commuter trains, including express trains, will appear on the Kazan, Kiev and Kursk directions. On Friday, December 29, two interregional “express” trains will depart from Moscow to Kaluga (departure at 17.15) and Tula (departure at 18.41). On Saturday and Sunday, December 30 and 31, an “express” will depart from the Kazansky railway station at 9.10 to the Ryazan-2 station.

On New Year's Eve, from December 31 to January 1, two additional night trains will run between Moscow and the stopping point Novoperedelkino(at 1.00 to Moscow and in the opposite direction at 2.40). In addition, at 1.49 an electric train will depart from the Kievsky station to Nara. It will also run on Christmas night from 6 to 7 January. On Monday, January 8, two interregional “express” trains will travel to Moscow from Ryazan (at 14.08) and from Tula (at 14.07).

The schedule of some trains may change on December 31. You can learn about all the innovations from announcements at train stations and bus stops. And on January 1, passengers will be able to leave on the first morning trains, which begin running from 4 to 5 a.m. (depending on the direction).

By decision of the capital authorities, from December 31 to January 8, parking in the zone paid parking will be free. At the same time, flat parking lots with barriers will continue to operate at current rates. There are about 80 of them, they work around the clock, including weekends and holidays. Tariffs and payment methods are indicated on information boards at the entrance to the parking lots.

Let us remind you that in the capital everyone can leave their car for free in paid city parking lots from 0.00 to 24.00 on the following days:

Sundays;

Non-working holidays;

Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) postponed by decision of the federal authorities;

Saturdays following a holiday or weekend.



Residents and guests of Moscow on New Year's Eve and City Days will be able to travel around the clock on the Moscow metro and the Moscow Central Circle until 2021, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

“For the convenience of citizens and guests of our city, on the night of December 31 to January 1, the Moscow Metro and MCC will operate around the clock, and on Christmas night - up to 2 hours. They also decided that from 2019 to 2021, on City Day and New Year, both the metro and the MCC will work around the clock,” Sobyanin wrote on Twitter.

Last year, 510 thousand passengers chose public transport on New Year's Eve in Moscow.

New Year in Moscow: how transport works

On the night of January 1, buses, trolleybuses, trams and blue minibuses will transport Muscovites until three o’clock in the morning. Information about this will be posted at public transport stops, in subway lobbies, on the websites of Mosgortrans, the metro and on our website.

The metro and MCC will operate all night from December 31 to January 1. On the night of January 7 they will close an hour later - at 2.00.

But taxi companies advise calling a car in the first half of the day on December 31 to get to relatives or, for example, to buy everything you need. And on January 1, it is better to wait out the hours of demand - from 1.00 to 2.00.

From December 31, 2018 to January 8, 2019, motorists will be able to park their car for free in any place and even in those parts of the city center where parking has become 380 rubles per hour since December 15.

On New Year's Eve, car assistance services will operate, and some companies will not even charge money for towing a car after an accident. To receive the service, you must contact hotline 8-800-250-72-62 (free call). For free evacuation, the accident must be registered by the traffic police. After that, your car will be delivered to the place where you need it.

Electric trains on New Year's Eve in the Moscow region


  • December 28 and 29 - according to Friday schedule;

  • from December 30 to January 7 - according to the Saturday schedule;

  • January 8 - according to Sunday schedule;

  • January 9 - according to Wednesday's schedule.

Please note: on New Year's Eve, from December 31 to January 1, several trains will depart later than usual so that guests of the capital can leave after the festive fireworks. These trains will leave the capital's stations after midnight, later than the usual schedule (for example, if the train usually leaves at 23.55, then on New Year's Eve - at 0.55). The same schedule will be on Christmas night from January 6 to 7.

And on January 1, passengers will be able to leave on the first morning trains, which begin running from 4 to 5 am. You can get to the railway stations using public transport at night. Metro in Moscow for New Year 2019


  • From 10.00 on December 31 to 2.00 on January 3, changes await passengers at the Okhotny Ryad station:

Public transport in Moscow during the New Year holidays

Usually ground transport and the Moscow subway operate until 1:00, however, during the New Year holidays, the capital's ground and underground transport will stop for only two hours in order to resume its activities on January 1 at 5:00 according to the 2015 schedule.

On New Year's and Christmas nights, ground public transport will operate until 03.00; metro - until 02:00.

During the New Year holidays (from January 1 to January 11, 2015), ground public transport will operate on a weekend schedule - with increased intervals.

The capital's authorities have also prepared a surprise for motorists: parking in the center of Moscow on New Year's Eve, as well as during the New Year's holidays 2015, will be completely free.

However, do not forget that during the festive events a number of streets in the center and north-east of the capital are planned to be closed.

From 21:00 on December 31 to 4:00 on January 1, Tverskaya Street from Pushkinskaya Square to Okhotny Ryad will be blocked.

From 21:00 on December 31 to 2:30 on January 1, Vozdvizhenka, Bolshaya Dmitrovka, Romanovsky Lane, Petrovka, Ilyinka, Novaya Square, Neglinnaya Street will be closed.

General Director of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans Evgeny Mikhailov emphasized that night routes of ground urban passenger transport were organized in the capital by the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the City of Moscow in August 2013.

“Technically, we are ready for this,” added Evgeniy Mikhailov.

Trade in the capital from December 31 to January 1, 2019

On December 31, the authorities recommend that grocery stores selling essential goods, such as bread, meat, butter, eggs, potatoes, close no earlier than 20.00; stores with food and manufactured goods - no earlier than 19.00.

Public service centers during the New Year holidays 2018-2019


  • On New Year's Eve, December 31, district MFCs receive visitors from 8.00 to 20.00, flagship offices - from 10.00 to 20.00, the Palace of Public Services at VDNKh - from 10.00 to 22.00;

  • from January 1 to January 8 - public service centers are closed;

  • from January 2 to January 8 (inclusive) - there are public service duty centers where you can register state registration of death ( full list- on the MFC website). Births can be registered only at the public services center of the Matushkino district and at the flagship office of the Central Administrative District in the Afimall shopping center in Moscow City. Public service duty centers are open from 11.00 to 20.00. But on January 7, these MFCs do not work.

Payment of pensions for January 2019


According to the management of the Pension Fund for Moscow and the Moscow Region, due to the New Year holidays, pensions and social benefits in the capital for January 2019 will be paid through post offices according to the following schedule:

Streets and subway exits will be blocked

Changes await motorists during the Journey to Christmas festival.

  • From 0.01 on December 28 to 0.01 on December 29, the following are partially closed to traffic: Tverskaya Street from Pushkinskaya Square to Okhotny Ryad Street, as well as Mokhovaya Street from Vozdvizhenka Street to Tverskaya Street. Traffic will be carried out in one dedicated lane alternately in both directions.

  • From 0.01 on December 29 to 18.00 on January 3, a section of Tverskaya Street from Pushkinskaya Square to Okhotny Ryad Street, a section of Mokhovaya Street from Vozdvizhenka Street to Tverskaya Street, a section of Teatralny Proezd from Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street to Petrovka Street were completely blocked.

  • From 0.01 on December 29 to 21.00 on January 3, traffic on Bolshoy Gnezdnikovsky, Leontyevsky, Kozitsky, Glinishchevsky, Gazetny, Bryusov, Eliseevsky and Nikitsky lanes is closed.
