Roads in Macedonia. Roads of Macedonia
With Top, as we have bought the apartment a few years ago in the small Bulgarian town of Bansko, this place was the center of recreation for our family and our friends.
Bansko is not a very big city, but a very large ski resort, the best in Bulgaria, is even called the "winter capital of Bulgaria".
In winter, we are mainly entertaining ourselves skiing and snowboarding, but in the summer pulls on the road for new impressions.
We take the car and go ... We go around Bulgaria, because in this country there are a lot of interesting places, both for cognitive tourism and in order to enjoy natural beauty.
We go to Greece, because there, too, there is something to see and you can swim in the sea.
In September of this year, we decided to visit Macedonia and Albania.
So, we flew to Sofia and arrived home in Bansko. The city, as always, in the autumn, met us with beauty, rich harvest vegetables and fruits
Feeding five days in local attractions (Rilsky, rupto, Dobarsco), we got into the car and went on the road.
The first is the first - Macedonia, Ohrid.
We prepared for travel in advance, so they read on the Internet about Macedonia in general, and about the city of Ohrid in particular.
From Bansko to the Bulgarian-Macedon border about 100 km, then another 300 km in Macedonia and we are in Ohrid.
It is necessary to note separately that the roads were pleased - the coating is very good, for the number of cars that we met, they can be considered wide. The kilometers of 100 -120 were driving at a paid two-way wonderful highway with a speed limit of 130 km, paid for it about 2 euros, only slowed down about points for collecting money, they drove such 6 pieces, everywhere takes payment by cards, there were no worry about the local currency.
The city of Ohrid stands on the shore of Ohrid Lake. Lake of volcanic origin, great and deep, the water is purest, in good weather you can swim.
In Ohrid and its surroundings, there are many hotels on the shore, there are good beaches.
You can make a pleasant walk on the veil. We were upset by us, it was raining, there was a strong wind, stormylo, boats stood on joke at the pier, only walru could swim.
The city of Ohrid itself is a wonderful place that attracts crowds of tourists from different countries, which is completely not surprising. The first ancient settlements here were still in 2-3 centuries BC, then the colony was captured by the Romans, during the Byzantine rule, the city was an important shopping center on the way from Adriatic to Constantinople, then the city took Christianity. Preserved an antique amphitheater.
From the 5-6 centuries, the city began to settle down by the Slavic peoples, received his current name, was part of Bulgaria and even the capital of the Bulgarian kingdom is one of 25 years at Queen Samuel. Tsar Samuel built a fortress on a hill over the city, which has been thoroughly preserved to the present day, you can enter it and even stroll along the fortress wall for a symbolic fee of 0.3 euros.
In Ohrid, a student of Cyril and Methodius Holy Clement Ohrid was conducted and led his educational activities. It is believed to be in Ohrid was first createdalphabet cyrillic .
In the period of Byzantium, many churches and chapels were built in the city. Some sites report that in Ohrid and the surroundings of their 365, I do not know if it is true, but, really, very much and well preserved, many are now restored. A large cultural and religious center is still being built, which will include archaeological excavations, temples, concert hall, etc.
More than 500 years, until 1912, the city was powered by the Ottoman Empire and fell into decay, but Muslim did not accept, now about 80% of the population (as in all Macedonia) - Orthodox Christians. After graduating from the First Balkan War and Liberation from the Ottoman Empire, he was part of Serbia, then Yugoslavia, now in Macedonia.
I also want to provide important information for tourists. Macedonia is not a very rich country, so a visit to a very beautiful and interesting city Ohrid cost us inexpensively.
We ordered in advance two double studios in a small private hotel for 3 nights, for both 60 euros in cash during departure.
The city is small - you can go everywhere on foot. Lunch or dinner in the restaurant on the waterfront - in the tourist center itself - for 4 persons with wine, beer, Cognac costs about 40 euros.
They drank a very tasty local white wine "Alexander".
The language is very similar to the Bulgarian, it is written on all the menus, i.e. Russian letters, understand easily.
All who communicates with tourists speak English, no problems with communication.
A mother of pearl and pearls are produced in the lake and pretty decorations are made, simpler - 5-20 euros per bracelet, earrings, necklace, in good silver handmade - from 70 euro to "how much it is not a pity."
In July and August, there are a lot of tourists, just won't write, but the weather is good.
We also managed to visit the monastery of the Holy Nauma, which is located on the other side of Ohrid Lake, about 40 km from Ohrid. Now the monastery does not work, but earlier was a major religious and educational center. Release as a holy place, in the altar of the monastery of the monastery there are unique icons.
To the monastery from Ohrid, a lake tram walks several times a day, but also ride along the road along the lake was also nice. On the territory of the monastery there is a very beautiful new church of Saint Petka, near which the healing source beats with holy water.
On this, our stay in Macedonia ended and the Macedonian-Albanian border was already visible ahead.
The purpose of the second is the "terrible" Albania.
Most of our fellow citizens retained the "Soviet" idea of Albania as a wild and hostile country, and the youth does not know at all that there is such a country, because tours in Albania almost no one sells in Russia, but with geography in schools trouble. Albania scares, like an unknown.
When we told familiar what we were going to relax in Albania, people twisted a finger at the temple and looked at us as a squeezed. Articles in the internet about Albania also did not please - the people are wild, Islam strong, there is no roads and all that. But we are on the way, the hotel is booked, there is no road road.
Having enjoyed pleasant impressions in the monastery of the Holy Nauma and having sought the most delicious coffee in the same place, we entered the territory of Albania.
And it began ... In an unthinkable old, narrow road without a single pointer, we pass through a certain city, the navigator works as a dotted line, look at the woman behind the wheel as an eighth miracle of the world. After the city, the road leads us along the Ohrid Lake with the Albanian side, the asphalt becomes more worse and finally ends at all, the road turns into a direction.
The company quietly, I focused on the number of pits and ughabs.
Everyone thought about the fact that the worst predictions came true and that 200 km to the city of Durres - our holiday destination - we will be in such a mode.
Kilometers through 15 it was necessary to turn from the lake to the mountains, and the husband offered me to get out of the steering wheel, so as not to risk our lives. And then, about a miracle, we left for quite a decent new track. It turns out that we just drove along the area of the unfinished road. On the way, we were caught another such plot, kilometers 5, and that's it. Everything in the sense that it was the only unpleasant place not only on the roads of Albania, but in all our journey.
And the quality of the Tirana-Durres route (from the capital to the largest port in the country) can envy Kutuzovsky Avenue even after reconstruction.
It turned out that Albania is a normal country, and the Albanians are normal guys.
Italians know this very well, so they prefer to rest here. The level, of course, is lower than in Italy, but only one order, and the price is below five orders, and the sea is the same.
Almost all restaurants are focused on Italian cuisine and seafood, portions are large, the price is small. At lunch or dinner, you can meet 20-30 euros on four, fruit for dessert brings by default and do not turn on, while re-visiting the institution is treated with anything, mostly alcoholic beverages of local or their personal production.
In Durres there is a mosque, which the Egyptians built as a gift, it is positioned in all guidebooks as a landmark, so, nothing special with two minarets. It is almost the only reminder that the main religion in the country is Islam. There are no women in specific clothing on the streets, the appeals to the Namaz did not hear the impression that the whole "Unbeliever" was created. Everything is quiet, calm, about this:
We also got a good shopping. The thing is that some plants of famous Italian brands are located in Albania. Because of the cheap workforce, they don't even write on the clothes, which is seduced in Albania, all "Made in Italy", sell part of their products here in Albanian prices, i.e. Bluffs up to 30 euros, shoes up to 40, we bought good checkered x / b shirts for 150 rubles, such as sale. New shopping centers in Durres itself and on the highway to tyrana beautiful and comfortable.
As for the rest of the rest, then say: "Super, quickly everything in Albania", of course, it is impossible, but it is quite acceptable.
The hotel foundation is very diverse, the international criteria for hotels in the country are not accepted, so they paint stars on hotels in the amount of paint.
Best of all small private hotels are pleased and the desire to please the treasured tourist. In English they speak badly and rarely, they know Italian, willingly explain in the language of gestures, you can always agree.
Sea sandy and petty meters per 100-150 to swim should take a water bike and twist pedals, almost all hotels have their own free beach with sun beds and umbrellas, many have their own water bikes and give them for symbolic money.
Water from the shore warms up to the temperature of the pair milk, which is good for vacationers with children. The beaches are dirty, you have to be careful, you can step on a fragment of the bottle, the hotels are obliged to follow their beaches, but do it not always.
We were in the second half of September, it was not najako, there are few people, we decided that the season was already over.
With entertainment trouble. You can mentally take a walk along the embankment. In the evening of the city in the evening we did not go, from the beach zone it is kilometers to 10, you will not have to come on foot, urban transport has not seen, and in the beach strip the main evening entertainment is a restaurant, but it arranged it.
Of course, the biggest plus is the price of the question. Sometimes there was a feeling that we were brought to the Black Sea coast of Russia, only everything is cultured, quietly and five times cheaper.
I want to thank everyone who read to the end, I hope that it was interesting.
Before new places, friends!
Russia Moscow
