Well, studying will do. But I’m young and full of energy) when you have to get out somewhere, you’ll agree, it’s much more pleasant to drive to the music. Below the cut is a budget option for solving the issue.

We will talk about the FM transmitter Ritmix FMT-A955. I had never come across such devices before, but a quick search on the Internet gave me some idea of what similar devices are, as well as what to expect from them.

The operating principle of an FM transmitter is simple - the device, powered by the car (via the cigarette lighter socket), receives a signal from an external source (player, phone, flash drive) and broadcasts it via radio. This is quite lame) But in practice everything is just as simple.

In da box

The unsightly box contained the transmitter itself, an external microphone with a clip, a remote control, an audio cable, a spare fuse and instructions.

The device is more than modest in size and weight. At first it may seem that the device is all-metal, but in fact it is made of plastic.

It is assembled very well, although due to the low cost of the device, certain doubts creep in about its durability during active everyday use. The plug has one degree of freedom - it can always be somehow inserted into the cigarette lighter.

The transmitter has a small one-line black and red display (which, in my opinion, is also an IR receiver), where various information is displayed. There are two buttons under the display – a green handset and a red one (for making calls).

Even lower is a panel that slides down (slider), which covers 6 buttons (three of which are responsible for switching tracks).

On the left side there is an audio input, a headphone jack and a microphone jack - unfortunately, they are all 2.5mm (so the same player can only be connected via the 3.5mm-2.5mm adapter included in the kit). On the right is a slot for SD/MMC cards and a USB port.

Test

The device supports operation only in the FM range, at frequencies from 76.0 to 93.0 (with the ability to set the desired frequency with an accuracy of 0.1). Being in the very center of Moscow, unfortunately, on the radio I was able to find ONLY ONE free frequency - 89.0. This frequency was indicated on the transmitter and... in fact, after that, the music from the inserted flash drive immediately started playing, absolutely without any interference! In the Moscow region, this same frequency is also free. The sound was no different from the sound that would occur when playing a disc.

The search for music files is carried out automatically and on an 8GB flash drive lasted about 10 seconds, after which the most normal music playback began, which is pleasant, without interference. The transmitter can rummage through internal folders - the main thing is that the media size is no more than 32GB, that it has FAT32 and that there are no more than 2000 files. Unfortunately, no tags or identification marks were displayed on the radio.

In the case of connecting an MP3 player (Cowon S9) via the included wire, there were also no problems with playback (it even became more convenient - the usual navigation and easy search, although the question arose about the placement of the player), although at the very beginning we encountered some interference in the form of crackling and slight hissing. The solution was simple - turn down the volume on the radio and turn up the volume on the player.

About the remote control. The fact that he exists is, of course, only a plus. But, for example, I can’t imagine how to use it while driving - you’ll have to stretch your hand the same way both to the remote control and to the device itself. So if only from the back seat or outdoors from the street, provided that the door is open and the IR receiver is in direct line of sight. Otherwise, the remote control is small and thin and can easily fit behind the folding sun protection thing. There are a lot of buttons on it, but they are all labeled and you can figure it out without any instructions)

In a friend’s glove compartment there was another FM transmitter, also from Ritmix - all dead, but alive)

There the principle of operation is exactly the same, with the exception that the device itself was powered not from the cigarette lighter, but from the device itself, into the connector of which (3.5mm) it was plugged. Accordingly, there is no support for memory cards and other flash drives, but you can “transmit” not only in the car, but anywhere - after all, it is powered by the battery of the sound source. What was surprising was that it “interrupted” the tested device at the same frequency.

We turn on BT on the transmitter and on the communicator. On the second, we search for devices and, if successful, add the first one using the standard password 0000.

So, I launch the player on the phone and... that's right, the music starts playing in the car speakers. There were no problems in terms of signal quality or delays. And what’s very convenient is that you can connect any phone and listen to anyone’s music.

The funniest thing started when my friend and I decided to test the handsfree component of the transmitter :) He got out of the car and dialed my number - the sound of the call came from the bowels of the car.

I receive the call - I can hear him perfectly, but he can’t hear me. I try this way and that, but he doesn’t hear. Suddenly I remembered that the kit included a microphone with a clip, I take it out, unwind it, plug it in and try to say something. There is success, but variable. Actually, the whole comedy of the situation was that we were so carried away by the process that we did not pay any attention to the few witnesses around. And, as you know, “imitating” a conversation is quite difficult. So it turned out something like this - there was a guy standing near the car who, at different volume levels, generated something like “ Let's hurry up, Putin won't wait; Now let’s talk about the entire budget like this; ABOUT! The ministers rode in tanks! Comrade President, the conference with the states will begin in two minutes; One time, little duck", etc., and in an untinted car I tried to find a convenient place for the little thing on the wire, into which I also said something at some intervals :)

As you can see, nothing funny) in our harsh times... even if we take into account that two lunatics did all this not far from those same red brick walls))

In general, the result is the following - I could hear my interlocutor perfectly well, but he could barely hear me. Where I didn’t place this microphone, how I didn’t speak into it... so perhaps (and I’m almost certainly sure of this) this is a problem only with a specific instance. I would be happy to check it on another microphone (it is on the same ears from the player), but the 2.5mm audio jack somehow did not contribute to this.
During an incoming call, the music is paused, and after a conversation it is turned back on. There are no problems with dialing a number; by pressing the green handset on the transmitter you can redial the last called number. When making a call, the interlocutor's number is displayed on the radio.

It was not possible to connect via Bluetooth to the Cowon S9 player - it seems to be only for headphones. It’s a pity - considering its battery life... But simultaneously connecting HD2 via Bluetooth and Cowon S9 via wire worked out very well - there is music and road safety is improved))

Love does not love

Pros:
- Good equipment (remote control);
- Small sizes;
- Good quality of workmanship and assembly;
- Support for memory cards and USB flash drives;
- Ability to work with the player via wire, with a phone via Bluetooth;
- Handsfree function.

Minuses:
- Audio connectors 2.5mm;
- It fits into the cigarette lighter tightly;
- One day you may not be able to find a free FM frequency :)
- Price.

I would like to:
- A little more informative display;
- Ability to record to a flash drive via a microphone (not a DVR, but something);
- 3.5mm connectors

And I still don’t know how to look at the fact that the signal from the transmitter, in fact, can be received from a neighboring car (being within the range of the transmitter) - screw it, with music, let them listen... but what about calls? This is what I haven't tested (
As for the price, it ranges from 1,700 to 2,100 rubles per piece. Not so much, but, IMHO, such hardware should not cost more than 1000 rubles) In any case, it is much cheaper than any radio with a USB port, and even more so, a separate device for creating a handsfree system.

Conclusion

In fact, I liked the test primarily because it was somewhat non-standard) It was at least interesting what it was all about.
In practice, it turned out to be a very interesting device, but very controversial. After all, now most foreign cars come with a function for wireless chatting, and even more so, working with MP3. On the other hand, from memory I don’t remember cars that would play from memory cards and regular USB flash drives. So the need for this piece of hardware is different for everyone and depends only on the initial data.
The radio was the simplest, with a one-line display, however, everything worked on it. I think that on more advanced devices there would be tags on the screen and something else... but as a rule, more expensive head units really have 99% of the functionality of the transmitter) So, if you have a simple machine, there are a few coins for the desire to listen to music, Without having to worry about burning discs in your car, you can take note of this device. In my case, everything is bad with music, so this thing has found its use) Cheap and cheerful.
