With this, perhaps, I agree. The motor of the car is of course very reliable. The Mitsubishi ASX is ideal for light off-road and asphalt applications. But dynamic driving in ACH is not for those who have good hearing and a sense of beauty. I bought a car, one might say by accident. I urgently needed a vehicle, so I didn't even hope for something good for that kind of money. In appearance, of course, I like it very much. Aggressive and sporty body lines, headlights and more. However, according to the owners' reviews, I read the minuses about the Mitsubishi ASX only after the purchase. And only after two years of operation I realized that I completely agree with most of them. The only good news is that the car has a low gas mileage, just what I needed. However, everything else is a bit tight. For example, a vehicle accelerates very slowly on a fast lane. Sometimes you even have to follow the truck. Very annoying, especially when I'm in a hurry. Very small trunk. I often go to nature, dacha, barbecue. So, very few things fit in the trunk. It is necessary to fold the rest in the back seat. And it's good if there are no passengers. I weigh 90 kilograms and in two years I saw that the driver's seat was squeezed. All savings on low gas mileage are more than offset by expensive components. This is my fourth car and during this time I have not yet spent so much money on maintenance.
It skids terribly on a slippery track. No winter tires save you, although I approach its choice with great responsibility. Therefore, in winter I do not drive a child in a car at all. And yet, the brakes are constantly creaking. Although, probably, this problem is only with my car. The second maintenance was carried out, but the brakes cannot be fixed. After reading a lot of owner reviews about the Mitsubishi ASX, I was very surprised that there are more advantages than disadvantages. To be honest, when I took a new car in the cabin, I was completely sure that there would be no serious problems with it for about a couple of years. But the Mitsubishi ASX showed its shortcomings six months later. The car was parked in a garage outside the city. There was a small blizzard, the motor failed, the wipers did not work. On the road on a busy highway, a non-freeze froze. As a result, I found myself on a high road in winter with such a ridiculous malfunction. In addition, everything under the hood was covered with snow. I was just shocked. I called the dealers to consult, in the end they do not know anything and no one except me opens the hood. The wipers were repaired, but now they only work every other time, as if by mood. Officials replaced them for free.
I also ran into the "engine" icon on the control panel. The dealers have corrected the problem. As soon as we left them, the signal came on again. I came back, carried out diagnostics, and so on all the time. They have already begun to recognize my Mitsubishi ASX from afar. If there is enough space in front, then in the rear seats, although three people will fit, they will not feel comfortable, because of the high seating position and the falling roof. The luggage compartment is also not a record, but it will be able to provide everything you need when traveling. Let not the widest, but still it is, the choice of power units. They are not very strong, but they do not consume too much fuel. It's nice that the company was concerned not only for the safety of the driver, but also for the passengers sitting next to it. For this, many different systems have been implemented. Most importantly, this Mitsubishi ASX does not cost as much money as, for example, its competitors. The updated Mitsubishi ASX compact crossover was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in the spring of 2017. And already in the fall, its sales began, or rather, resumed in Russia. The model has undergone subtle changes ... why?

By and large, maybe it was not worth changing anything in it. As we know from the famous commercial, Japanese cuisine is balanced, so the representative of the Japanese car industry with three diamonds on the emblem is also balanced, there is nowhere better. On the one hand, it is compact, on the other hand, it is capacious, as they say, more inside than outside. Place it next to the Russian LADA XRay and you will see that the two models are very close in size. But how much more spacious in the "Japanese"! I will not compare the numbers, I will just give my measurements. The width of the ASX cabin at the rear is 137 cm, the front is 146 cm, the distance “behind me” is 26 cm. The XRay cabin is clearly smaller in all dimensions.

But the two cars are now similar in design: the ASX has chrome-plated boomerang inserts on the front bumper, very reminiscent of Iksreevs. Also, vertical strips of LED running lights are now integrated into the front bumper. LED steel and headlights, slightly reshaped. The rear bumper has changed, the updated crossover can be easily distinguished by a kind of lining in its lower part.

In general, the car has retained well-balanced proportions, but, unfortunately, this betrays a sad fact: the company saved on updates. The model clearly lacks brightness, "zest", thanks to which it would stand out among a considerable number of similar competitors. One cannot shine among them with chrome on the bumper, and the pseudo-ventilation stickers on the fenders only emphasize "age": these are not in fashion for a long time. The new body color - Alloy Silver - in my opinion, only makes the car look old. The exclusive turquoise color, developed especially for the first generation ASX, suited him much better. This color scheme was called "kawasemi", which is the Japanese name for a kingfisher bird, painted by nature in that color.

There is speculation that the manufacturer deliberately minimized the updates in order to introduce a completely new ASX with more fanfare in the not too distant future. But that's just a guess.

In fact, the compact crossover is not that old, the concept car dates back to 2007, the serial production of the model started in 2010. Updates then happened more than once, but the model remained well recognizable. The fine, neat box body of the Japanese company definitely succeeded externally and, with relatively small dimensions (length - 4.3 m), turned out to be very spacious inside. Will this recognizable silhouette continue in the future? It seems unlikely. The alliance with Nissan is likely to bring the ASX's design closer to the Qashqai environment. In general, this is also not bad, but the originality of the model will disappear.

Now they only tried to embellish it, but how successful? Chrome-plated exterior door handles date back to the 90s of the last century. However, the maximum set of Instyle (about 1.5 million rubles) stands out not only for this. Its shiny handles feature black keyless entry buttons. It also shines with LED headlights.

But the salon, as they say, does not shine ... There are few changes in it, although they are noticeable. A multimedia system with a 7-inch color screen and a single control knob appeared here - the display is fully touch-sensitive. It has few functions (the photographs of the ASX for foreign markets show a much more advanced device). And it's still nice. There is also a rear-view camera, although its "peephole" is easily contaminated to the point of complete invisibility.

During acceleration, the engine does not "growl", and in general, relative silence reigns in the cabin at high speed. The oncoming air flow begins to make noise only at 120-130 km / h, and even then it is not too intrusive. Pebbles on the wheel arches do not pound. In theory, huge exterior mirrors should worsen aerodynamics, but I would not change them to smaller ones. There is no standard system for tracking the "blind" zones in the ASX arsenal, but you can get it for a surcharge.

Naturally, the car does not control the lane markings, does not steer into the lane. This is the lot of more expensive models, although such functions are becoming cheaper and more accessible. Perhaps one will appear on the newest ASX (as it became known, its premiere is scheduled for 2020). In the meantime, the crossover, and without it, demonstrates stability on straight high-speed sections, does not require gripping the steering wheel. And maneuvers in a stream with not so noticeable rolls. And quickly, which is not expected from a relatively "long" steering mechanism.

Unfortunately, side mirrors do not help to keep the front door windows clean from dirt in slushy weather. It gradually dries up and forms a gray opaque layer along the bottom of the windows. And the glass of the fifth door becomes soiled to complete invisibility (there is, of course, a "wiper"), and the spoiler, perhaps, only aggravates the situation. The rear view camera lens also gets a lot of dirt.

High efficiency is not the "horse" of a two-liter Japanese crossover, but you can count on a reasonable consumption of 7.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km when driving on the highway without breaking the speed limit. We don't ride on three wheels

It so happened that I read the instruction manual for the ASX model after returning from an off-road trip. No, in general, we managed to figure out all the systems without prompting, in fact, in the thick Manual I was interested in only one point: the indication of all-wheel drive modes. I didn’t find what I needed. It was necessary to find out at what speed the 4WD LOCK symbol on the instrument panel is turned off. But what a pleasure it is - to boldly, confidently climb along such slopes, relatively harmless ravines! I would have known that I would be so lucky with the weather - I would have brought a mountain bike with me. True, perhaps, he would have been cramped in the ASX trunk even with the second row of seats folded down.

Well, if the opposite slope of the ravine is flowers, then maybe climb up the same route along which you went down? The first attempt fails: the car stops, hitting the left front wheel in the notch, which, during the descent, provoked a diagonal hanging. We skid, but not for long, and give up. I turn on the blocking of the interaxle coupling - it does not help. Covering itself with sand, the ASX hangs again at the level of this notch. On the third attempt, with a set of speed, the obstacle was not taken again, it would still be possible to accelerate, but there is a danger of sliding sideways and scratching the metal of the body on the high edge of the track.

For the fourth time I try to climb up to the right, out of the track, on the grass. And here there is not enough speed, and setting it is fraught with the danger of slipping sideways onto a large solid stump. No, that's it, we retreat. Taking a last look from below at the uncaught slope, I saw that a Land Cruser Prado drove up to it. You should have waved your hand to the driver, they say, get down, there is not the slightest danger for you here. But I didn't have time - the SUV turned and drove around the ravine on a flat road. Was it really so cool here? Not really ...

Taking a breeze over a bumpy dirt road is, in general, for the ASX, but not for its passengers. The suspension endures, holds the blows, avoiding breakdowns. The rear axle does not tend to get off the ground in turns and jump to the side. But at the same time, the inside is too hard, even for the driver. You would rather fly out of the seat than lose control.
