Instructions for using starline car alarm with auto start. How to use a Starline alarm system with auto start? Autostart based on temperature indicators

23.06.2023

Modern StarLine car alarms not only protect against intruders but also include many functions, one of the popular ones being the auto-start system. It can be used to control the start of the engine and other auxiliary systems.

But many car owners do not always have the opportunity to read the operating instructions, especially if the car was purchased secondhand. But it contains information about the functions, capabilities and features of alarm management.

Models of Starline security systems with auto start

For the current year (2018), the following Starline alarm models are sold: A63, B94, D94 (Starline D94), A9, A93, E91, A6, A8, B6, E90, A94, A61, B9, A91. For convenience, we have highlighted models with auto start in bold.

Starline car alarms with auto engine start function are indicated by a number "9" in the index. Second digit- generation of devices. The fifth generation is designated as A95, B95 and so on.

Compared to earlier models, they have the following advantages:

  • current consumption 15 milliampere, which ensured battery life of more than 5 months;
  • increased range head unit, which uses the new W84R02 transceiver;
  • range standard key fob increased;
  • improved Slave function, in which control does not occur from the main key fob;
  • new, less vulnerable, control channel encryption protocol;
  • signal transmission in the form of block sending, increasing the processing speed and noise immunity of the packet.

The index letters indicate the following:

  • E - budget model;
  • A - a device with additional options and the ability to change the configuration to suit the characteristics of automotive systems;
  • B - an advanced model with the ability to connect GPS-GLONASS and GSM units and tracking via CAM bus;

List of instructions for Starline (StarLIne):

Each model is equipped with unique functions and comes with its own instructions. If you lost it or bought a car secondhand without this piece of paper, download the instructions you need from the links below.

Security system capabilities

The first thing that catches your eye when you get acquainted with the electronic watchman is the abundance of simple and useful functions. The developers used a method popular in the industry: they divided the car into 9 zones and installed their own protection method for each. The Starline alarm system includes:

  • a relay that prevents unauthorized engine starting;
  • sensors (micro switches) for the trunk, hood and doors;
  • two-level shock sensors to protect glass and body elements;
  • parking brake lock;
  • control of the ignition switch position.

Starline A93 review:

The operating instructions contain details about options that improve usability, increase security and prevent the possibility of hacking and control interception:

  • dynamic coding of the control signal;
  • turning on sound and light notifications (alarms) for a limited period of time;
  • disabling alarms without disarming the vehicle;
  • saving settings even when the power is turned off;
  • simulation of engine malfunction (anti-robbery mode);
  • the presence of an individual access code, which makes it possible to urgently turn off the alarm.

Alarm system "Starline" with auto start, according to the instructions, has several ways to notify the owner and others about an attempted theft or penetration:

  • turning on the siren and lights;
  • alarm notification via key fob with feedback;
  • “panic mode”, in which light and melodic alerts are forcibly turned on.

A feature inherent in the Starline alarm series with autostart function- ability to self-diagnosis. The control unit constantly scans the status of the sensors. If a malfunction is detected, it signals this to the owner using an LED indicator and a notification system via the key fob.

How the system works

All work of this system is carried out using a special, secure protocol and comes down to the simplest principles of a conventional encoder. A special algorithm with a secret code allows the key fob to process the incoming signal and send a response back to the sensor. In this case, the system turns off only when the sent and received signals match, and a confirmation is received on the key fob. All this takes just seconds!

Instructions for use

The first thing owners have to deal with is- mastering ways to control functions and modes. For Starline alarms with the popular autostart function, the operating instructions list all options for sending commands from the remote control to the control unit. For this purpose, the delivery set includes two three-button key fobs with a display and feedback (main and auxiliary).

A variety of commands are given by alternating single or double pressing of one button or two buttons at the same time. Key fobs have three main functions:

  1. Arming with the engine running and stopped, controlling sensors, closing locks, starting and stopping the engine.
  2. Disarming, opening locks, turning off light and sound alarms, programming arming and disabling security.
  3. Condition monitoring car and turn on the search mode.

The instructions for alarms with auto-start contain detailed explanations about combinations of presses. It is worth reading it carefully to avoid confusion and problems associated with the inability to get into the car or start the engine. It also contains a transcript of the response to commands using lighting or sound. Thanks to it, you can be sure that the receiver caught the command and the control unit carried it out.

Important: lack of confirmation indicates a system malfunction or incorrect use of control buttons.

Setting up the Starline alarm system

To program the functions, you need to press the service button 5 times and turn on the ignition. Then, by short pressing buttons 2 or 3, select one of the menu items:

  • A.F.- service and security;
  • SF- starting the engine;
  • CH-1- programming additional channel 1;
  • CH-6- programming additional channel 6;
  • SO UN- volume of confirmation sounds.

To get into the autorun settings, after selecting the item SF hold button 3 until a beep sounds, and then press it briefly.

  1. Use buttons 2 and 3 to select an item, and button 1 to select its state.
  2. Return to the main menu occurs after holding button 3 for a long time.
  3. To exit the programming menu, you must press button 1 on the key fob or turn off the ignition.

Starline alarm connection diagram

To do this, please use our guide in a separate and detailed material. There you will find connection diagrams for different models, plus detailed installation instructions.

The alarm connection diagram is given in the instructions. It has three options for controlling the engine starting:

  • through the ignition switch contacts;
  • "start-stop" button;
  • "start-stop" button (low current).

Depending on the design of the car, the moment of its start is recorded according to one of three indicators:

  • tachometer signal;
  • generator voltage output;
  • on-board network voltage level.

If possible, you need to connect the control blue-black wire (pin 8 of connector X2) to the tachometer.

How to use autorun

To prevent an emergency, the engine starting system is not turned on in the following cases:

  • ignition on;
  • the handbrake is not turned on;
  • the brake pedal is pressed;
  • the hood is open;
  • Neutral speed on manual transmission or parking mode on automatic transmission is not enabled.

Auto start limitations:

  • the number of attempts to start the engine does not exceed four;
  • if the engine stalls during warm-up, it starts again;
  • Autostart during cooling works independently of other programs (by time or after a period).

If after 4 attempts the engine does not start, the key fob gives an audible alert and 4 light signals. Behind 60 seconds the device emits two series of sounds until warm-up is complete 4 signals each. The owner of the car is notified about the completion of warming up and stopping the engine by 4 sound and light signals, as well as a message "r00" on display.

When using automatic start, four rules apply:

  • The launch occurs regardless of the location and functionality of the main key fob. Therefore, it must be turned off before leaving on a business trip or when parking the car for a long time.
  • The autorun alarm must be reset before the next cycle.
  • The error of automatic start by alarm can reach 3 minutes.
  • If the operating time is set to “unlimited”, the engine will turn off after 30 minutes.

The ability to automatically start the engine is especially important in regions with cold climates. It allows you to comfortably use the car even at temperatures below 25 degrees.

Today, purchasing a vehicle for consumers has ceased to be a big problem.

However, car owners today face a completely different, more pressing problem: how to protect their property from an attacker. Unfortunately, the problem of car theft and hacking is quite common almost everywhere.

To solve this problem, all kinds of systems and technologies have been developed that help preserve your property, scare off ill-wisher and warn the owner of possible danger.

Domestic market

There are many companies offering a wide range of products on the Russian market. The leading trading "player" is the StarLine company - this is one of the large companies offering modern equipment at affordable prices.

Since 2010, StarLine began developing a number of interactive models with built-in antennas hidden in the body, extended range chips, alarms with a secure cryptographic code, and in some models with voice authorization.

General overview of StarLine

One of the main features of this company is its fairly simple installation and installation on the car. These car alarms are easy to use, unlike their expensive counterparts. Starline has several advantages and features:

  • The alarm system can be installed not only on cars and trucks, but can also be installed on scooters and motorcycles.
  • The car alarm device is quite resistant to temperature changes.
  • The system is able to ignore extraneous signals and interference.
  • Durable and practical keychain design.
  • Availability of auto engine start function in some models.

Models and types

StarLine alarms are divided into several categories (mainly based on price): entry-level StarLine (budget options), mid-level alarms and premium StarLine with many additional options.

Based on their principle, they are divided into devices with automatic engine start and without automatic start.

Also, all Starline devices are divided into several categories, namely categories E, A, B, D. Everyone already knows that the more recent a model or category is, the more new and advanced the functions are endowed with the devices of these models.

Models in this series are equipped with a small key fob, but are not equipped with:

  • nor a CAN interface (a module with which the side window lifting device is controlled, the engine can be started, etc. It serves to reduce the installation time of a car alarm);
  • nor GSM (this option is useful because it can be used to control the autostart of the power unit from a mobile phone. This is convenient in cases where the vehicle is located at a great distance from the owner, and it needs to be warmed up in advance);
  • nor GPS (a function that allows you to determine the location of a car via the Internet with an accuracy of up to three meters).

However, these models have a certain advantage - a relatively low price.

Next comes category B. These are more advanced models that have a slightly modified key fob and have higher noise immunity. Another enviable advantage is that some devices are equipped with GPS monitoring.

And finally, the last series of devices is category D. Its main direction is. There is practically no significant difference from the previous series, the functions are completely identical, the only difference is that there is an image of a crossover on the key fob.

Category E includes models: E90, E90 GSM - with auto start, E60 - without auto start. Category A - A94, A94 GSM - with autostart, A64 - without. Series B: B94, B94 GSM, B94 GSM/GPS - autostart, B64 - without. And finally, category D: D94 GSM, D94 GSM/GPS - with autostart, D64 - without autostart.

How to set up engine autostart? Need instructions...

Setting up and connecting a car security alarm is a rather delicate and scrupulous matter. First of all, instructions or an experienced master who has “eaten more than one dog” in this matter will help.

Automatic start is very useful during cold weather when the vehicle is needed. With the StarLine alarm system, this is only possible if the entire system has been correctly connected and configured.

Before installation, you should determine for yourself in which mode the autorun will take place. There are two modes: automatic and remote. Remote start, as already mentioned, is used to start the engine in advance, some time before the trip. Automatic start means starting without driver intervention.

Autostart can be configured in such a way that the power unit will start when the temperature drops below a certain limit or after a certain period of time.

Automatic launch can be performed if special conditions are met:

  • The gearshift lever is set to neutral (the vehicle must not be parked on the transmission).
  • The ignition in the car must be turned off.
  • All doors, hood, trunk, hatches - everything must be closed tightly.
  • The parking brake (handbrake) must be applied.

If at least one of the listed conditions is not met, the car will not be able to be started remotely.

Instructions for setting the car in security mode with auto start:

  • Upon arrival at the desired point, you must stop, do not turn off the engine, and do not turn off the ignition.
  • Switch off the gear (put the gearshift knob in neutral mode).
  • Apply the parking brake (pull the handbrake).
  • Press button 1 on the key fob and hold it for 3 seconds until a sound signal appears. After the sound signal, only 30 seconds are allotted for the remaining steps.
  • Turn the key and remove it. In this case, the engine remains running.
  • Make sure all doors, trunk and hood are closed.

After closing the last door, hood or trunk, the engine will stop working and the security mode will be activated on the car.

Remote launch instructions

You need to press button one, hold it for up to three seconds, or press the “Start” button and then press button 2. Then the alarm will independently try to start the engine. If the attempt fails, a second attempt will follow after a few seconds, and the time that the starter works will be increased by two tenths of a second.

And so on each time until a successful attempt to start the engine. Started up. However, if after four attempts the engine does not start, a signal will be sent to the key fob from the car and the key fob itself will emit 4 sound alerts. If the car starts up normally, the key fob screen will display a car with the parking lights on (or display it with exhaust fumes), and the key fob will emit three long beeps.

Autostart instructions based on temperature

To avoid unpleasant situations in winter when the engine does not start due to low temperatures, you need to turn on autostart. You should press the “Start” button and simply press button 2. After this, a melody will sound and the temperature will be unlocked on the key fob. Set the value at which autorun will work. To deactivate autostart based on temperature, you need to press the button with the image of a thermometer and press button 2.

If there is a need to get into the cabin while the engine is warming up, you just need to press button 1 on the key fob. After this, the locks will unlock for 30 seconds. If during this time you do not have time to get into the car, insert the key and turn on the ignition, the security mode will be activated again.

The domestic market is crowded with various companies and models of car alarms, but one of the market leaders, like StarLine, has long established itself as a time-tested system. If you want to protect your car from intruders, choose StarLine.

Car alarm Starline A39 2CAN+2LIN with telematics function and GSM communication can be installed in vehicles with an electrical voltage of no more than 18 volts. This means that the use of this model of the anti-theft complex is impossible on motorcycles or “heavy duty” vehicles.

Basic rules for installing a security system

To install the Starline A39 alarm system with automatic engine start of an old or new model, you need to take into account the recommendations:

  1. The microprocessor device is located hidden, in a place least exposed to high temperatures and humidity. The module must not be placed near the air ducts of the heating system. The unit is equipped with a built-in interior temperature sensor, so this arrangement may lead to incorrect readings.
  2. The antenna adapter module is placed as high as possible on the rear window or windshield. The distance between the transceiver and metal surfaces must be at least 5 cm. If the car is equipped with rain and light controllers, the adapter must be placed away from them. In addition, you cannot install the antenna module on the top of the glass if a tint film is applied there - this impairs the reception and transmission of signals.
  3. The alarm status LED is placed in a visible place in the cabin, near the windshield. Its location on the instrument panel is allowed.
  4. Before installing the system, you should connect all its elements separately from the car and connect them to the battery. This will ensure that the complex is in good working order before installing it on the machine.
  5. The siren is hidden in the engine compartment, in the driest place, not exposed to critically high temperatures. The horn of the device must be placed downwards, this will avoid the accumulation of moisture inside. The power supply line must be equipped with a 3 ampere safety device.
  6. The temperature controller is installed on the engine crankcase or any metal surface adjacent to the cylinder head. The device can be installed in the cooling system pipe. Do not install the sensor near the exhaust manifold, as this will lead to deformation of the regulator body due to exposure to high temperature.
  7. Wires are laid under the decorative lining of the interior. Electrical circuits must not be laid in places where moving mechanisms and components of the car are located.

Installation of the Starline A39 2CAN+2LIN anti-theft system is carried out on a car with a disconnected battery.

How to install a Starline A39 car alarm?

Installation guide for the 2CAN+2LIN system produced by Starline:

  1. The battery is disconnected; to do this, the terminal clamp with the negative output must be disconnected from the battery in the engine compartment.
  2. A microprocessor device is being installed. It is recommended to install it behind the control combination, this will ensure the shortest possible length of wires. The module is fixed on a flat surface using plastic clamps or self-tapping screws.
  3. LED is installed.
  4. The temperature controller and siren are being installed under the hood.
  5. The antenna adapter is placed on the inner surface of the windshield or rear window.
  6. “Limit switches” are mounted on the hood, luggage compartment and doors.
  7. The -12 volt wire (“ground” or ground) must be connected to the car body; for this you can use any standard bolt. The use of self-tapping screws for fixing to the body is not allowed. A power cable with a cross-section of at least 6 mm2 is connected to the main block of the control unit.

Pros and cons of a security system

List of main advantages of the Starline A39 alarm system:

  1. Availability of additional functionality that simplifies the use of the complex. This refers to autostart, pre-heating of the engine, etc.
  2. Versatility of the security system. Starline A39 can be used on passenger cars and SUVs with diesel or gasoline engines, regardless of the type of gearbox. Also, the use of the “signal signal” is possible on cars equipped with a Start/Stop button.
  3. The ability to independently adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor.
  4. Availability of a control system via a mobile application or computer. To do this, the user must register in advance on Starline official website .

Disadvantages of this Starline model:

  1. Complicated service manual. If the user is inexperienced and has never set up a car alarm, this task may be difficult.
  2. Fragile body of the communicator. If dropped, there is a possibility of damage to the device and its failure. To restore functionality, the communicator will need to be repaired.
  3. There may be malfunctions of the anti-theft system at low subzero temperatures. User reviews show that already at -20 degrees the system begins to function incorrectly.
  4. There are still defective copies on sale. In the first years of production of these systems, a large number of defects ended up on the shelves of auto stores. The manufacturer Starline recalled all such alarms from the market and replaced them under warranty. But there are stores where there are remnants of a defective batch of the A39 system. There is a high probability that they will not work correctly.
  5. To implement all functions, the user will need to additionally purchase and install the appropriate Starline modules.
  6. The package includes wires that are too thin and short. This leads to their rapid wear and the need for extension during installation.

Starline A39 2CAN+2LIN anti-theft systems are usually installed in car dealerships, so most of the functions and parameters remain unconfigured.

The Mos-olimp channel showed the process of how the autostart function works on a Kia Sorento with a Starline A39 2CAN+2LIN alarm system installed.

The appearance of the StarLine alarm system on the automotive markets was a real discovery: an excellent combination of innovative functions, a high level of protection and an intuitive interface made the system a leader among security systems. Why does a car alarm deserve such high ratings, how does it differ from its analogues, and how to set up a Starline key fob.

Features of the Starline alarm system

The interactive method of data encryption is one of the main features of the Starline car alarm, which reduces the risk of car hacking. All models of the system, designed for use in urban environments, have a large range of up to one and a half thousand kilometers. Signaling resistance to radio interference is ensured by separate channels to which radio interference is sent.

A distinctive feature of the Starline alarm system is self-diagnosis - the system automatically checks and controls the operation of all sensors in the car. The alarm key fob or LED indicator of the unit notifies the driver of damage to the system or any of its elements. Any Starline alarm model is equipped with an instruction manual, which contains information about what type of protection is provided in a particular complex.

Car alarms are equipped with various security mechanisms that prevent hacking attempts:

  • Interception of the system signal is impossible using dynamic code;
  • The alarm can be interrupted without removing the protection from the vehicle;
  • The alarm signal is cyclical, but the number of its repetitions is limited;
  • In the event of a power outage, all car alarm settings are saved;
  • You can turn off the alarm urgently by entering a personal access code.

Thanks to its compact and ergonomic shape, the keychain fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. The interface is entirely in Russian, which simplifies working with the system. The absence of an antenna on the key fobs simplifies their operation.

System capabilities

When choosing a security system, car enthusiasts pay attention first of all to its functionality and capabilities. Depending on the specific alarm model, the set of options and the number of protected zones may vary, each of which has an individual protection algorithm.

Starline alarm functionality includes:

  1. Engine control and blocking in the event of an unauthorized attempt to start are carried out by relays - digital or conventional.
  2. Remote ignition.
  3. Protection of doors, hood and trunk is guaranteed by limit push-button switches.
  4. The windows and body of the car are protected from impacts by two-level sensors.
  5. The condition of the car interior is monitored by a sensor installed inside it.
  6. Inability to release the parking brake.

The instructions included with the car alarm state that the system is capable of not only protecting the car, but also notifying the owner in the event of a break-in or attempt. Alerts can be very different:

  • Transmitting a signal to a key fob with feedback;
  • Sound and light warning;
  • Possibility of engine blocking;
  • Panic mode;
  • Safe engine blocking mode that simulates engine failure.

Remote starting and operation of the car engine are controlled by the car alarm processor. The system functions can be performed either automatically or manually using the key fob.

Principle of operation

StarLine alarm systems are equipped with special technology that operates through a secure channel. After the security system receives a signal from the sensor, it checks its authenticity. The response request for confirmation is sent in the form of encoded numbers.

A certain algorithm and secret code allow the car alarm key fob to process the received signal and send a response to the control unit. The alarm will turn off if the sent and received signals match, and a confirmation is received on the key fob. The entire process of signal exchange takes no more than a few seconds.

Instructions for use

The security system comes with an instruction manual, which not only explains the principle of its operation and method of use, but also the installation process. Accordingly, installation, configuration and operation of a car alarm can be carried out by the car owner independently, without contacting service centers and auto repair shops.

Do-it-yourself Starline car alarm connection

The process of installing a security system requires a set of tools:

  • Wrenches;
  • Soldering iron;
  • Nippers;
  • Electric drill;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Heat-shrinkable caps;
  • Tester - they will check the electrical wiring.

Step-by-step installation process

Before you begin installing a car alarm, you need to turn off the power to the car - disconnect the battery terminals. You can consider the installation process using the example of a Chevrolet Lanos.

  1. The instrument panel is removed. To do this, the dashboard is disassembled: the climate control and headlight control units, the lining under the “small” glove compartment and the radio are removed.

    Location of climate control and headlight control units Location of the screws on which the headlight control unit cover is attached Location of the trim fasteners on the right side
    Location of mounts above the dashboard Location of climate control unit mounts

  2. The instrument panel itself is removed. It is attached using three connectors.
  3. The main car alarm connections will be made on the dashboard connectors.
  4. The linings of the torpedo and steering wheel are removed: the first is fastened with two screws on the side of the steering wheel, two self-tapping screws and one screw from the bottom, the second - with four screws.
  5. A power connector with six contacts is connected to the ignition switch.
  6. The cover is removed from the fuse block, and the bolts that secure the fuse block itself are unscrewed.
  7. A wiring harness protrudes from the driver's door and is located behind the fuse box. The central locking is connected to it.
  8. The LED lamp and signal transmission and reception unit are installed inside the car.
  9. The engine compartment contains a siren, a temperature sensor and a hood switch. The trunk limit switch is mounted in the trunk.
  10. All removed interior trim elements are returned to their place.

The locations of the system parts are determined in advance. The most reliable places for the control unit are the front seats or the space behind the instrument panel. The siren is mounted in a place protected from moisture - the space next to the engine is optimal. They try to position the antenna in such a way that it does not come into contact with the metal and wiring of the car.

A shock sensor is mounted in the central part of the cabin. This arrangement is chosen due to the fact that it must read the impact at the same distance from all sides.

An LED is attached to the center console. Such a prominent location alerts potential car thieves that the vehicle is protected.

All elements are connected only when protected mode is enabled. After all parts are placed and the system is configured, grounding and power are applied. The installed alarm system is tested for correct installation and functionality.

During the test, the car alarm may go off falsely. The reason for this is the high sensitivity of the installed sensors - to eliminate such a reaction it is necessary to recalibrate them.

Immobilizer bypasser

An immobilizer is one of the anti-theft devices that blocks the operation of the engine and some other components in the event of an unauthorized attempt to enter and start the engine. Such devices are characterized by increased efficiency, which insurance companies take advantage of: agencies agree to enter into contracts with car owners only if the vehicle is equipped with such equipment.

It is impossible to visually determine whether the car has such a device or not - it does not produce sound or light signals. The main task of the device is to prevent the thief from starting the car. Even if the device is detected and subsequently destroyed, all components and elements of the machine will remain blocked, which often becomes a problem for the vehicle owner.

When installing an alarm system, you can bypass the immobilizer. There are several ways to do this, but one of the most popular is to use a crawler - a module that allows you to overcome the effect of the immobilizer. Such devices are created and sold by the same companies that produce security systems, related equipment and their installation.

The bypass module, or immobilizer bypass, is a compact device, inside and outside of which there are transceiver antennas. The device body also contains a chip or key. Both antennas are designed to receive and transmit a signal when starting a vehicle engine using an alarm key fob. The crawler only works when the car is started from the alarm key fob and does not respond to the use of the key.

An immobilizer bypass specialist should be selected. The main difficulty in this process is the selection of a module that corresponds to a specific car model: on many of them, the signal supplied by the immobilizer is too weak, which is why it has to be amplified first.

Bypass modules are developed specifically for specific models of alarm systems. For example, a StarLine BP-03 crawler was created for the StarLine A91 Dialog system - it is this device that is synchronized with this car alarm model.

Setting up a car alarm

The first step after installing a security system is to configure it correctly. You should start by linking it to the key fob system.

Key fob binding

The Starline car alarm key fob cannot be worn with metal keys. A similar taboo applies to any other security systems.

The car alarm is equipped with two remote controls. The main one has a liquid crystal display and four control keys. The additional one does not have a display, it is equipped with only three buttons and a light indicator. Before using the key fob, perform basic system settings:

  • Set the date and time;
  • Set an alarm clock - if the car owner needs it;
  • Set a timer;
  • Adjust the volume of emitted signals;
  • Select the beep tone.

Priority in system control is always given to the main key fob. In fact, it is the only remote control from which the security complex can be remotely controlled. An additional key fob can only be used as a duplicate if the main one fails. Car alarm settings using the key fob buttons are carried out as follows:

  • Several quick presses, each lasting no more than half a second;
  • Press and hold the key until a beep sounds;
  • Double clicking the buttons;
  • Consecutive pressing of several keys.

The variations of actions with the key fob listed above are necessary to activate and deactivate certain functions of the Starline system.

Cursor setting

Some of the modes supported by the car alarm are programmed using the cursor method. The user manual indicates the function keys with which the settings are carried out. Activation of the cursor method occurs by two keystrokes - one lasts until a sound signal appears, the second - quick - confirms activation. As a result, the icon corresponding to the enabled function should appear on the liquid crystal display of the main key fob. Control buttons allow you to move from one symbol to another, selecting the desired function. Activation of the selected option is carried out by pressing other keys - their numbers are listed in the operating instructions.

Using the cursor method, you can activate and deactivate almost all functions of the Starline alarm system:

  • Door locking and unlocking function;
  • Anti-robbery function;
  • Silent protection mode;
  • Third Party Service Mode;
  • Turning the turbo timer on and off and many others.

Alarm Modes

The Starline security complex has a wide functionality and a set of programmable modes:

  • Anti-robbery;
  • Alarm immobilizer;
  • Self-diagnosis of the system and sensors;
  • Panic mode;
  • Silent mode both with the engine running and with the engine turned off;
  • Automatic start of the security system in case of its shutdown;
  • Silent operation of sensors in response to impacts on glass, body and wheels;
  • GPS monitoring and determination of vehicle coordinates;
  • VALET mode - emergency call for help;
  • Independent programming of a new key fob in case of loss of the old one with the destruction of the old encryption code;
  • Automatic wheel blocking in case of evacuation of the vehicle by special equipment.

How to program them?

Activating the keys on the main alarm key fob allows you to control all modes stored in the system memory. Changing certain parameters, adjusting and selecting modes are accompanied by sound and visual signals: icons appear or disappear on the display.

To program the modes, you must press a certain combination of keys on the alarm key fob. It is not only the correct sequence of pressing the buttons that matters, but also the length of time you hold them down.

Several examples of programming car alarm modes:

  • Consecutive pressing of the first and second keys activates the silent security mode;
  • Similar pressing of the first and third keys starts the car engine;
  • Pressing the second and first keys with a break of a second starts the vehicle security with the engine running;
  • Consecutive pressing of the second and third keys turns off the engine;
  • The key fob buttons are unlocked by simultaneously pressing the second and third keys;
  • The key fob button locking is activated by simultaneously pressing the first and third keys;
  • The “panic” mode is activated when the first and second buttons are pressed simultaneously and the engine is turned off. With the engine running, a similar action will trigger the anti-robbery mode.

Meaning of key fob keys and pictograms

Button 1

  • A single press activates the sound security mode, a long press activates the silent mode;
  • Double-clicking activates and deactivates the shock sensor;
  • A single click locks the car doors while the engine is running.

Button 2

  • One press deactivates the security mode with sound. Pressing it again deactivates a similar silent mode;
  • A single press opens the door locks while the engine is running;
  • Double single click activates anti-robbery mode;
  • A single press turns off the alarm.

Button 3

  • One keystroke controls the system status;
  • Double clicking turns on search mode;
  • Pressing a key on the key fob with a display starts the cursor programming mode. It includes various functions - temperature or time start, timer start, immobilizer and turbo timer activation, service maintenance.

How to configure system autostart

The auto-start function of the security system is configured by the technician who installed the alarm using a personal PIN code entered into the modular control unit. When the security system is first started, all factory settings and changes made to them are saved in the memory of the security system.

Internal failures and malfunctions of the system are extremely rare, but if this happens, they are eliminated by resetting all settings to factory settings. This can be done by pressing the VALET service key or entering a secret code.

Sensitivity adjustment

The Starline system installs a two-level sensor, the operating principle of which is based on the piezoelectric effect: before the car body is hit, it picks up a sound wave. Such sensitivity is guaranteed only by rigidly mounting the sensor on a metal surface connected to the body. To adjust the sensitivity, you need to increase the warning zones and decrease the other two. Then the security mode is turned on, and after 40 seconds a light blow to the body is performed.

The level of sensitivity is checked in a similar way: it is reduced if the reaction is too acute. The full alarm zone is debugged in a similar way. For warning and alarm indicators of the shock sensor, the maximum sensitivity value is 14, the minimum is 0.1. A zero value, of course, completely disables the sensor.

Reducing the sensitivity level

The car's service book indicates the location of the alarm control unit only if the car has a standard security system installed. Otherwise, you will have to focus on the VALET key: the wiring goes to the control unit from it. It is usually located near the pedal assembly. Sensitivity is reduced by adjusting the control element responsible for this function. The indicator should not exceed the average values and not be below 4–5 units.

Setting incorrect sensitivity values can cause malfunctions of the warning system, due to which it will not be able to transmit signals about serious damage to the wheels and body of the car. The location of the antenna module also affects the sensitivity level. Installing an antenna on the windshield reduces to zero the likelihood of the security system being activated in the event of an impact on the rear of the body or the wheels. You can change the alarm parameters and adjust the sensitivity by simply moving the module to another location and then checking it.

Starline car alarm malfunctions

The following breakdowns can be considered common malfunctions of Starline car alarms:

  • Discharging the key fob. The battery installed in the remote control does not have a long service life, so at the first sign of incorrect operation of the system, it is worth checking and replacing the battery if necessary;
  • Power problems - low car battery, problems with the fuse box or the power system of the alarm itself;
  • Damage to the central control unit. Such problems can lead to complete failure of the entire system;
  • Sensor malfunctions. Individual alarm elements can always be replaced with new ones.

Most problems can be solved by replacing the failed part with a new one. The most complex is the control unit - its repair and replacement cost a large sum, since key fobs and some other alarm components must be replaced along with it. Such work should only be entrusted to the professionals who installed the security system.

If the key fob does not respond

The lack of response of the key fob to key presses is not always a symptom of a serious breakdown. In most cases, the cause of this malfunction is a dead battery. If after replacing the battery no changes occur and the key fob does not come to life, then you should look for other reasons for problems in its operation:

  • There are high-voltage lines or a powerful radio station near the parked car - they can jam the signal coming from the key fob;
  • The car battery is dead;
  • The key fob is not within the alarm range.

In the situations listed above, it is enough to drive the car and check the key fob again. The absence of a positive result may require disassembling the system control panel.

  • The key fob body is disassembled. It is necessary to look for cracks, traces of poor-quality soldering and other damage in the insides;
  • Using a soft brush, be sure to remove debris, dust, and wool. You cannot wipe microcircuits with liquids - they may fail;
  • The loose parts are carefully soldered back into place;
  • All wires, conductors and other parts are checked with a multimeter.

If you have fully checked and disassembled the key fob and it does not begin to respond to key presses, then you should pay attention to the trimmer capacitor. It is turned 10 degrees with a screwdriver in programming mode and with the button pressed. The procedure is repeated until the system and key fob are synchronized.
