Rubicon indicator new version. The Rubicon indicator will provide high profits from trend trading

06.09.2023

This trading strategy is named after Rubicon indicator, all because it serves as the main component of this strategy and, moreover, it itself draws profit and stop levels.

Market: Forex;
Currency pairs: various;
Timeframe: M15 - M30;
Forex indicators: Rubicon Indicator;
Strategy: trending;
Protective orders: StopLoss, TakeProfit, Tralling Stop.

Rubicon Indicator forex

Rubicon Indicator consists of three. The main moving average with a period of 116, Exponential type. Buy orders will be opened if the market is above EMA (116), and sell orders - if the market is below EMA (116).

Also Rubicon Indicator draws an arrow at the moment of entry, profit and stop levels, and the level at which to enter the market. The yellow price indicates the TakeProfit level, the orange price indicates the StopLoss level.

The only disadvantage of this indicator is that you cannot view its history. Therefore, you have to take a closer look at it in real time. But according to numerous reviews from traders, the indicator deserves attention.

Indicator Settings

- TargetLabelSize– increase/decrease the size of the price mark for take profit.
- StopLabelSize– increase/decrease the size of the price mark for stop loss.
—ArrowSize– increase/decrease the size of the arrow.
- AudioAlert– enable/disable notification with sound.

Trading strategy rules

As I said above, the indicator takes on all the functions and is actually an independent strategy. Therefore, everything will be quite simple.

1. Install the indicator on the chart. Time interval M15 or M30.
2. In place of the green line, place a pending order: a BuyStop order if the market is above EMA (116), and an order if the market is below EMA (116).

At the moment of entry, the indicator draws a yellow arrow. If the market rolled back after entry, but did not reach the Stop, it draws an orange arrow at the time of the repeated breakout of the maximum.

3. If we take the standard parameters of the indicator. Then we set it at the level of the Yellow price mark and StopLoss at the level of the Orange price mark.

Additions to Forex strategy

You can use modernized stop and profit parameters. As one of the options, we calculate the stop level in points and multiply by 3. The result obtained in points will be the Take Profit level. With this approach, one profitable trade will cover three unprofitable ones.

Since the indicator is based on moving averages, it is accordingly best to choose trending pairs.

During testing, the Rubicon indicator showed fairly good trading. This indicator showed more profitable trades than losing ones. This fact alone allows us to consider this indicator reliable. With a normal approach, without violating the rules for opening orders, the Rubicon indicator will allow you to increase your personal trading account by an order of magnitude.

Here we will show the rules for entering the market to buy and sell using signals from the Rubicon indicator. We also note that in order to better understand the essence of the signals that this assistant produces, you will need to have at least initial knowledge in the field of placing pending orders. However, if there are none at all, read below where they should be displayed.

Brief description of the Rubicon indicator

Every day new Forex indicators for traders appear on the Internet. In addition, work is constantly being done to improve advisors, trading plans and trading methods.

Despite the large number of trading indicators, not everyone can be called reliable and profitable in terms of trading. But there are really high-quality tools for trading on the stock exchange. The Rubicon indicator is just one of these. After its release, it was loved by thousands of traders. What's good about him? First of all, the fact that it can be used on any currency pair and on almost all timeframes. It turns out that the Rubicon Forex indicator is a ready-made trading system, and also a profitable one.

When potentially profitable signals occur, in addition to visual indicators, there are sound alerts. Thus, it is difficult to miss a potentially profitable signal to enter the market.

It is worth noting that the Forex Rubicon indicator has certain settings and filters that can be adjusted to a particular timeframe and currency pair.

Characteristics of the Rubicon indicator

Figure 1. Rubicon indicator in MT4.

As you probably already understood, the Rubicon indicator perfectly predicts the future direction of the price. Full trading is possible due to reliable indicators and sound alert.

Trading is possible on all assets and almost any time period. You can trade 24/7 on weekdays. That is why the Rubicon trading system is considered universal. That’s why you should definitely download the Rubicon indicator today in order to have time to test it on a demo account and quickly earn money on a real one. The Rubicon indicator includes 3 moving average indicators:

  1. Most important EMA 116- Red. It shows the trend (trend line).
  2. EMA2– blue (shift 1).
  3. EMA9– green (shift 4).

We figured out that the Rubicon system is based on three moving averages: a red EMA and two fast moving averages (blue and green). The Rubicon indicator is also equipped green horizontal lines. They show where you need to place pending orders. In addition to these instruments, there are yellow and orange rectangles with prices inside. You should pay attention to them when you need to set take profit and stop loss orders.

About the Rubicon indicator settings

Figure 2. Rubicon indicator parameters.

When a trader downloads the Rubicon indicator and loads it into his trading terminal, after rebooting MT4 it will appear in the window "Navigator" . We drag it with the mouse onto the selected currency pair, after which a window will appear with settings that allow you to make some adjustments to its operation.

Main settings items:

  • StopLabelSize– adjusts the location of the rectangle indicating the setting of Stop Loss;
  • AudioAlert– you can disable or enable the sound alert, signaling a potentially profitable entry into the market;
  • TargetLabelSize– is responsible for changing the location of the price rectangle indicating the setting of take profit;
  • Arrow Size– correct the yellow arrow.

How to trade using the Rubicon indicator?

Let's consider buying: the red moving average EMA 116 must be crossed not only by the price, but also by the other two EMAs (blue and green). Also, the Japanese candlestick should preferably close above the red line EMA 116. This should be confirmed by a yellow arrow and a sound alert. A horizontal green line will appear separately. A pending Buy Stop order should be placed on its border. In addition, yellow and orange rectangles with numbers inside them should appear. You need to set stop loss and Take Profit at their levels.

Now let's look at sales: selling is allowed only when certain conditions are met. The price broke through the red EMA from top to bottom along with two moving averages, the Japanese candlestick consolidated under the red moving average. A green horizontal mark should appear in the form of a line, on which you need to set a Sell Stop delay. As soon as the price reaches this value, a sell order will be opened. Orange and yellow rectangles with numbers inside will also appear. These price levels indicate the setting of Stop Loss and Take Profit.

Note that you will need to experiment with the settings of the above stop orders, since in standard settings they are equal to one. In other words, the potential loss is equal to the potential profit. If you ignore these settings, then over time this will lead the trader to a loss.

There are times in the market that it is sometimes better to set a take profit equal in size to three stop loss values, sometimes it would be more correct to set a take profit equal to the stop loss distance. It is necessary to test these points, because each currency pair is traded differently and the trader does not yet know how the Rubicon indicator will behave on higher timeframes.

Some professional Forex traders recommend using trailing stops. Also, do not forget about the existing rules of money management, do not trade against the trend. If you take these points into account, the effectiveness of trading using the Rubicon indicator will definitely increase.

Positive and negative sides of the Rubicon indicator

Among the positive aspects:

  • good indication on time intervals, starting from M15 and ending with D1;
  • visual and audio notification of potentially profitable signals;
  • autonomy;
  • Excellent at identifying potential risks and entry points.

The negative aspects include:

  • potential entry points are determined solely on the basis of three EMAs;
  • gives many false signals during flat market movements.

The main line is colored red, and the fast moving ones are marked in blue and light blue.. Also installed in the Rubicon indicator additional horizontal lines in green, which indicate marks for setting limit orders and rectangles with numbers that indicate the optimal placement of stop loss and take profit orders.

Parameters for using the Rubicon indicator

To enter a long position (Long, buy), you need to wait until the price and fast moving averages cross the main line - red EMA 116. The price and fast MAs must break through the EMA 116 indicator from the bottom up and gain a foothold, which will be indicated by the alert and the entry indicator with an arrow, and a green horizontal line will also appear. It is at the mark of the location of this line that a pending Buy Stop order should be placed to open a transaction.

Marked rectangles with orange and yellow numbers indicate where to install stop loss and take profit in this position.

Short entry points are formed when the price and fast moving averages cross EMA 116 from top to bottom. After consolidation, a green line appears, on which you need to set a Sell Stop to enter the position. Additional marks will also appear - numbers in yellow and orange rectangles, which will indicate the required levels for placing Stop Loss and Take Profit orders.

Thus, the Rubicon trading indicator almost completely performs all the functions of a trader and the latter only needs to place Forex orders according to the specified tags. This functionality allows you to spend a minimum of time on trading, and the effectiveness of the strategy has been proven by several hundred published tests and confirmations from experienced traders.

An important note in the operation of the Rubicon forex trading indicator is setting stop loss and take profit ratios. The fact is that by default in the indicator, the stop loss and take profit are the same size, which means that the potential profit is equal to the potential loss, which reduces the expected value into the negative zone.

In some cases, it is necessary to independently set the take profit at a distance equal to three stop losses; in others, the number of small takes significantly covers the number of possible stop losses.

Things are different in different pairs and time periods, so traders who will use the Rubicon Forex indicator you need to do your own testing or watch the indicator work.

Experienced traders also advise experiment with holding a position and moving a stop loss, and what will allow you to increase profits without increasing risk.

After entering a position, set a standard stop loss, but there is no need to set a take profit(or at the 3 stop loss level). After the price has passed a distance equal to the size of the stop loss, we move the protective order to the entry point, which will reduce the potential loss to zero, that is, to breakeven.

Naturally, when trading using the Rubicon indicator, it is important to follow the primary rules of risk management and money management - do not enter into a trade with your entire deposit, do not risk more than is acceptable in one position, do not allow a large number of stops in a row, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Rubicon Forex indicator

Pros:

  • full autonomy as a semi-automated advisor;
  • broadcasting signals by visual and audio methods;
  • suitable for time frames from M15 to D1;
  • universal method of working on all currency pairs;
  • effective calculation of potential entry points, risks and potentials in a transaction.

Minuses:

  • calculations based solely on moving averages without using a filter are quite unreliable;
  • in a flat there can be a large number of false entries, since the strategy and indicator are designed for trend movements.

Indicator name – Leprecon (Rubicon);
Author-developer - unknown;
Year of appearance: 2011

The Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator is a trend indicator, designed for trading on all Forex trading platforms and performs especially well in the presence of a pronounced trend. If the market is flat, it tends to produce false entry signals and requires additional filtering. It is installed in a standard way on the price chart of any trading instrument. Can be used on any timeframe without restrictions. The working timeframes recommended by the author are from M5 to daily.

The main variable functionality is presented in Fig. 2 and is available to the trader to change the visual part of the settings. The working variables on the basis of which the indicator parameters are calculated have been closed for a long time. This indicator has a predecessor - version 1, which does not have sound notifications and alerts, but the principle of operation is identical in both versions.

Leprecon indicator (Rubicon) is built on the basis of moving averages, Gann lines and smoothed Zigzag. The presence of ATP values, Pivot levels and Fibonacci grid elements in the calculations is obvious. Moving averages - EMA with a period of 116 (red line), EMA with a period of 11 (blue line), SMA with a period of 2 and a shift of 5 (blue line).
Thus, this indicator contains the characteristics of a full-fledged trading system and can be considered by a trader as an opportunity to trade based on a single indicator.

Signals of the Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator for opening positions:

To purchase:
  • — The price is above the red line or crosses this line from bottom to top. The signal MAs, blue and light blue, also crossed and are above the line, with a pronounced upward direction. If the location is close to horizontal, the signal is considered false.
  • — Wait for a short horizontal green line to appear on the price chart of the instrument being traded and place a pending order on it in the direction of the planned movement — Buy Stop.
    In case of rapid price rises, especially on lower timeframes, it can be difficult to quickly place a pending order. We offer two options - either enter from a higher time frame, or place a Buy Limit order on the green level of the working TF. According to statistics, the price returns to the broken level in 70% of cases. The installation should be made above the level, taking into account the spread on the instrument being traded.
  • — After the price breaks through the green level, a yellow arrow appears. This is confirmation of the fact of penetration. Two marks appear - suggested stop loss and take profit levels. Ratio 1:1. In various additions it is proposed to change this ratio 1:2, 1:3, 1:4. Thus, a buy order is opened, with a stop loss and take profit set. For take profit, in addition to the above methods for setting it, we suggest using an indicator marker from a higher timeframe, i.e. for M5 it is M30. It was also noticed that with particularly strong movements, the signal arrow turns orange. This signal is more significant and stronger, according to the authors of the Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator.
  • — The Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator sets the next green level in the direction of price movement near the local extremum. Don’t rush to place the next Bay Stop order on it. This is a good guide, showing the trader the likely beginning of a correction of the previous movement, but it is better to wait for the end of the correction and enter the market using a Buy Limit order.

The Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator signals for opening sell positions are mirrored.

Advantages of the Leprecon (Rubicon) indicator:

a) arrows and green level lines are not redrawn;
b) the main trend indicator is the red line. When the price crosses it, previous levels and arrows are automatically deleted.

The Leprecon indicator (Rubicon) is a quality product. May be part of the system. Local conflicts with individual dynamic indicators were noticed.

Hello, fellow traders!

Today I want to provide you with an overview of one technical tool and trading strategy rolled into one, which is called the Rubicon indicator. In fact, there are few such universal types of indicators on the market, so I could not ignore it.

A short preview of what we will look at in detail below:

  1. What is this tool and how does it work? Installation and description of its configuration.
  2. What does the chart show and at what points does it give signals to open trades? Let's look at the rules of how the strategy works with Rubicon.
  3. Results of my manual testing for trading with Rubicon.

The Rubicon indicator is a non-standard technical tool that is focused on trading in the direction of the current trend, i.e. is essentially a trend indicator. This instrument consists of 3, at the intersection of which signals for entering the market are formed.

Installation and configuration of Rubicon in MT4

Before moving on to the input parameters and performance indicators of the Rubicon tool, I recommend that you download it for free on your computer and install it in .

You can download the Rubicon indicator at link

Installation of the indicator is carried out according to the standard scheme. For those who do not know how to do this, please read the instructions in the article.

After this, as usual for all indicators, a window with input settings will pop up, the meaning of which is described below:

  • “Arrow Size” — the size of the signal arrows on the chart;
  • “Stop Label Size” - size of indicators for stop loss orders;
  • “Target Label Size” - size of indicators for take profit orders;
  • “Audio Alert” - sound notification of the appearance of signals from Rubicon.

The disadvantage in the parameters is obvious; there are no settings that would adjust the periods of moving averages, as well as those that somehow affected the operation of the Rubicon tool as a whole. Accordingly, the algorithm of its operation itself is programmed in code.

Based on this, for correct operation, the Rubicon indicator is optimized only for 2 time frames: M15 and M30 (in the examples below, we will use the last time period).

As you can see in the figure above, the main trend indicator from Rubicon is the moving average with a period of 116 (blue slow). According to the algorithm, it is precisely by this that the current one is determined and transactions are opened only in its direction based on signals at the breakouts of lines and intersections from 2 fast moving averages (red and green).

Signals to enter the market using the Rubicon indicator

The Rubicon indicator, according to the algorithm and calculations, independently sets the necessary levels, and when the price breaks through these levels, it draws an arrow (yellow) on the chart for optimal entry into the market. In addition, it automatically calculates the levels (this is an orange mark indicating the price of the level) and (yellow mark).

Opening positions according to the strategy with this Rubicon indicator is carried out using and is quite simple:

To open a buy trade, Rubicon must show an upward trend. After that, you need to place a pending order for a breakout (Buy Stop) at the green level of the indicator. Set stop loss and take profit according to the indicated marks (respectively).

To open a sell position, we proceed in the same way, wait for a downward trend on the Rubicon instrument, and place a pending order (Sell Stop) at the green level.

Signals from Rubicon cannot be tracked over past periods, since it does not save the history of its indicators and works only in real time. Accordingly, the only way to check its effectiveness is to use it and test it over a certain period of time, which is what I did below.

Testing the Rubicon indicator

I tested the operation of this tool strictly according to its signals and recommended stop loss and take profit levels for a currency pair for a period of 30 days (1 month) on the M30 timeframe.

Of course, in such a short period it is difficult to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the indicator, but at first glance, it is worth tracking in which direction (profitable or unprofitable) Rubicon is directed. So, the profitability graph at the end of testing is as follows:

The results, as we see, are not reassuring. The loss for 30 days of trading according to the Rubicon indicator was -11.45%, the maximum drawdown did not exceed 23%, and the number of transactions was 30, i.e. 1 trade per trading day. See below for a short report on this:

What I noticed during the testing period is that the best way to take profit based on Rubicon indicators is to use a manual one, that is, do not look at the take profit level indicators, but move the stop loss level as the price moves, namely according to the moving average or local price extremes. This approach would allow us to extract more profit from the transaction, rather than strictly fixing it at short distances of 20-30 points from the opening of the position (as was done according to indicators from the indicator during testing).

For those interested, you can test the Rubicon indicator with the approach proposed above, I’m sure the results will be radically different.

So, fellow traders, did you like the review about the Rubicon indicator? Have you used it in practice before? If yes, what can you say about the algorithm of its operation? I would be grateful if you share your thoughts in the comments.

That's all for today, don't forget subscribe to updates forex blog, because ahead of you lies the continuation of the experiment on profitability and significant information on high-quality monitoring of PAMM accounts. Do not miss!

Best regards, Alexander Siver
